Unironically my favorite part of the whole playthrough is when they knuckles glitch over the wall, walk around the unrendered town, only to accidentally take the correct path and render the town into existence. Their genuine shock is extremely relatable. A close second is, "If only I could walk faster..."
I remember watching this playthrough every day as it released to see what fresh horror Sonic Boom would spawn next. My introduction to Game Grumps had been through Sonic '06, so moments like the unrendered town really made me nostalgic.
The fucking lines from Dan throughout this are golden. The "This is like a glitch, that occasionally breaks out into a game.." line, "even the NPCs don't want to be in this game," etc.
It still breaks my heart to see all that really good concept art in the end credits for this game. It’s like they’re trying so hard to tell us “look what it could’ve been. Look how hard we tried. We wanted to make something cool, but they FUCKED us”. Honestly the game would have probably been mediocre at best even if it were cooked properly with it’s bad writing, questionable character designs, and boring gameplay (so like every Sonic game), but at least it would’ve been better than the dumpster fire it was. I dunno I just really love concept art, and they put it there for a reason.
Even with what we do see in the game there is clearly some ideas that were good but weren't given the time to be fully realized and tested. It's a shame cuz the concept art kind of proves that.
I dunno I think a dumpster fire is sometimes better than a boring and forgettable experience. At least sonic boom will be remembered which is more than can be said for some of the other sonic games

There are 2 other compilations of this playthrough and this is a perfect combination of the two. Each had bits that the other didn't for odd reasons. There were a lot of funny bits both compilations missed. Excellent work my guy! 💪

The most unfathomable thing about this game is why in a Sonic game, a series about going fast and getting rings, they don’t let you collect more than 100 rings. Even as an exploration game, it fails because getting rings should be a reward for exploring, but 90% of the time you’re at the cap.

@@CherryBomb_Games No it's ham, but basically not the lunch meat kind. It was probably cut off of a bigger piece of ham and then it's called a ham steak. I'm not 100% sure if I'm right but I figured I'd tell you what I think.

The most unfathomable thing about this game is why in a Sonic game, a series about going fast and getting rings, they don’t let you collect more than 100 rings. Even as an exploration game, it fails because getting rings should be a reward for exploring, but 90% of the time you’re at the cap.

I used to call my mom by her first name and my grandma mom because that’s what I heard so I’m glad I’m not the only person. I started calling my mom “mom” because she started getting insecure about people not thinking I was her kid.
It's a shame that this game sucks so much because the actual "Sonic BOOM!" show is really good.

Aron’s broken logic gets me in this playthrough. He ignores the game’s explanations of where to go and what to do, looses his mind that it doesn’t. Purposefully breaks the game lol then complains that it’s broken. It’s a perfect storm of stupidity with a really bad game. LOL
