To have talk fescue succeed in climate like middle TN, it takes work!! And an equal amount of money! Literally has to be seeded every single year, weeds must be treated numerous times a year, it MUST be cut "tall"(3.25"-4"+" and should at that point be made sure to be able to make it by weekly to cut. It ain't simple as the snap of a finger to get tall fescue to succeed in hot climates. Needs water, needs to be consistently cut tall etc etc. Most homeowners do not understand the concept of what it takes to get a lawn looking good and having consistent stripes all year long.
Back in the mid 1980's I worked with an older Korean man who did lawn car in the morning. We worked swing 4 pm -12:30am or later. He must of been mid to late 60's may even be 70's he was a hard worker.. very peaceful quite guy.. HARD worker I mean very hard. I am pretty sure he is not around anymore but his memories pop in my once in a while :)
Your new guy has attitude. I will take a guy with absolutely NO experience with the right attitude and ethic, over 10 guys with years of experience that don't have the right attitude. This guy is will go far and continue to grow with you. Another cool thing, is you have the help. Learn together and try (enter into) new things. Rock on, and I hope you guys have a great season!
