God bless people like you. One search, one solution. Didn't even need to buy the repair kit because it was just the valve that was out of alignment. Thank you thank you!
As an HVAC tech I've learned one of the most important aspects of repairing a problem is understanding how a specific component works within the system. I like to see that in these type of repair videos, You helped with that by explaining how the anti-siphon component in the faucet operates... Nicely done.
This video really helped me. One of my outdoor faucets leaked so badly that I had just avoided using it for the three years I've lived here. I watched five videos on fixing a leaking anti-siphon valve, but none of the valves in the videos were the same type as mine and the parts in their valves were different from the parts in my valve. I had not been able to find parts for my NIBCO 90 valve. But then I watched this video and at 3:50 the bottom left of the parts card you show says, "Also fits NIBCO 90 valves." I bought the same package, discarded my old deteriorated parts, and installed the new parts. What a simple repair! It works great now. Thank you!
This video should be 750 million views. I did this job earlier today($6 kit from Menards in the US) but so happy to find this video later as reassurance. Plumber would’ve quoted $100-200+ These things are literally on most houses sometimes multiple per 1 house….
This was terrific. I had a big leak from the anti-siphon and I had no idea what the heck it was let alone how to fix it. We were getting ready to call a plumber. Saw your video and took the anti-siphon off and found the plastic pieces were in great shape but the O-ring was split. We had a supply of varies sized O-rings and found the perfect fit. Within 10 minutes I had a working outside faucet with no leak. THANK YOU!!!!
This was SO spot on and very easy to do. Took about 15 mins once I understood what needed to happen. Not sure why I procrastinated so long but there no more leaks. Nice work, sir - and thank you!
Great video! A local Seattle area plumbing company was goin g to charge me $3,000 to REPLACE three of these spigots. All that was needed was to do this process. It pays to educate oneself before paying $$$.
Very helpful video. I thought we might have to replace both of our outdoor faucets. Instead, I fixed them for pennies, in minutes, with this info. One faucet just needed a new stem washer (had been leaking from under the handle). The other needed both an O-ring and a new 00 Beveled Faucet Washer, 1/2" O.D. Danco Stock No. 35090B (had been leaking from the anti syphon valve). Total cost: $1.50. Saved me at least a hundred dollars. Much appreciated. Thank you for sharing!
Great video, I had hired a plumber to fix this issue 3 weeks ago, and they never followed up after ordering the part. I pulled out the valve, re-seated the o-ring, and I have no more leaks! I'm glad. I saved myself some money.
That saved me tons of headache. The plunger was good but flipped, so all i had to do is put it back straight!! It’s almost impossible to replace the faucet without taking couple cabinets from my kitchen in the basement!! Thanks a lot for this amazing video.
I was about to start chopping away either stucco outside or drywall inside to replace the whole faucet. Thanks for the video it prevented a huge unnecessary headache! All it needed was an o-ring that I already had on-hand.
Gotta love youtube and im sure the pros hate it when people care share at home repairs so easily now. Do it yourself is so much easier now just love it.
I watched the video about the shark bite spigot last night and I was about to replace my spigot. But something told me that the leak maybe fixable. Thanks very much, Scott. I looked and the plunger was damaged. I ran to Home Depot and got a vacuum breaker kit. In Canada it cost me $4 with the tax. So glad I didn't have to replace the whole spigot. We greatly appreciate your useful videos!
Wow, thanks so much. I've been dealing with this problem for years because I thought it involved cutting and welding to replace the faucet. The plunger was not even worn out, just seated sideways. I put it in flush and it worked. No more lost water pressure. Awesome!!!!!!!
Wife noticed the leaking vacuum breaker (yeah fellas, she noticed a problem with the vacuum. Go figure 😂). So I popped the cap, and noticed the gasket was partially dislodged, but otherwise in good repair. So, following the directions here, I removed the parts, flushed the seat, replaced all parts in their correct location and orientation, and closed it back up. Works like new. Not only saved a call to a repairman, it saved me a trip to Lowes (for now, at least). Keep the videos coming. This was simple to do and easy to follow. You've earned a subscriber and a like 👍🏻
Thank you! I think my issue was a lot of hard water build-up, and I wasn't able to get the plastic piece unscrewed. So, I just poured some white vinegar on the plastic piece and let it sit for about a half hour. That cleared things out and it is working perfectly now. Thanks so much for saving me the trouble and money of calling a plumber!
There were 2 replacement options at my Home Depot in Canada: 1392/1393 series or 1104 series. (I got both cuz they were less than $5 ea) The 1392/1393 was right in my situation. 1104 has a slightly larger diameter, so I'll return it. Six years later and your video is still helping people - Thanks for the quick DIY solution! 👍
Damn thank you. I was out the door on my why to buy a whole new spigot and I watched this, pulled that thing off and there was a bunch of sand and grit in there. Cleaned it out and now it's as tight as something that is really tight that I can't think of right now.
Brilliant. Had a bad leak and due to COVID-19, can't really go out and get parts. Took me 5 minutes to disassemble the anti-siphon, straighten out the mangled washer, reassemble and fix the leak. Thank you!
@@ericwilliams7345 This video was fixing the leak from the cap and this other video shows how to fix a leak coming from behind the handle. ua-cam.com/video/scf5ovLI4Uk/v-deo.html
Thank you for posting this, I made the mistake of leaving a hose attached during winter and it broke this when water froze. So make sure you keep your hose off in the winter :) Went to use the hose and water was pouring out of the top. I just replaced the entire hose faucet a year ago because an old hose was seized on it. I am happy to know its an easy fix and I don't have to go through all that again for this haha.
Coming back to say thank you so much, like you said in your video, I’ve been putting off this issue for literally like nine years, lol it was such an easy fix, got the exact same part that you got off of Amazon came the next day and I fixed it within five minutes, literally cannot believe it and now I have better water pressure to use hose and sprayers foryard work liquid fertilizers. Thank you so much and have a great day!
Thank you sooo much! Don’t feel bad 😂 it’s been two years putting off for me as well and landlord’s handyman tried one part that didn’t work and then abandoned the project- a trip to Home Depot, lots of research/learning, then problem solving with your video- yours took mine 🎉home 🙏
Hey, just a quick note to say THANK YOU for your video! I did a Google search, found your video and saw that it's exactly what our issue was with the EXT faucet. $3.10 later it was fixed/replaced (the anti-siphon component)!
This video just saved my day ! I had someone snatch off my anti siphoning valve. I had no idea what the name of the piece was, all I knew is that it’s connected on top the outdoor water faucet lol 😅
This happened to me last week! It’s gone, I raked through the mulch to see if it had fallen out. Now I know that’s not what happened. I had the pest control ppl come for a routine spring spraying. I disconnected my hose the morning he came by. When I tried to use my hose the next day and water came pouring out. I have spent $ trying ti find the fix, thinking it was just a lid. I should always check UA-cam before buying! Thanks for the education. ❤
Thank you! The faucet in my garage is leaking badly like this and destroying the drywall. The drywall was replaced once before I moved in, now I can fix the faucet so it never needs replacement again!
Thanks for this tutorial. I followed what you did and found out that the O ring in the plastic regulator was broken. Cost $3.18 from Lowes and fixed the leak in about 2 minutes.
Wow. Thanks Man. My valve has been leaking for 5 years. And it just got torrential. and I found your vid, didn't realize it all came apart, and it was a split washer, and I had a replacement in my toolbox. Thanks so much.
Such a simple fix but I’ve used this video 2 years in a row. Showing how the plunger works was helpful and also knowing that I don’t have to turn off the water main was good. Wish I would have remembered that one from last year. Had a Y-splitter on my hose Bibb and with the diverted valves turned off, water shot up out of the cap and blew the plunger and another small part into oblivion. Pro tip: take off any diverters or turn them to the open position lol.
Thanks for this replacement kit. I bought a house and found out the spigot leak like crazy from what you replaced. Happy to know I can just swap that part out.
Wow, I needed this. My mechanical aptitude has waned over the years, so I went to UA-cam to find if someone smarter than me had the same problem, and there you were! I will be at the hardware store tomorrow when it opens, and buy the replacement part for my leaky valve!
Thanks for the video. My mom had a new frost free valve installed last fall. She went to use it a week ago and it was leaking from the cap. Took the cap off and found out it loose. Took it out and flushed it out, just in case there was some debris inside. Put it back, problem solved!
Thank you so much for this useful video! Just an FYI, my wife and I bought a small rubber washer (98 cents for two) from Lowes to replace the washer part of the sillcock floating valve. This worked! Initially we bought $20 of the complete repair kit but it was just too expensive compared with the 98-cents rubber washer. We found the rubber washer at the nuts and bolts section at Lowes.
Hey thanks. I have hot and cold water in my garage. My hot water valve literally broke a month or so ago. It was replaced. Today, that anti siphon valve was leaking like crazy. Used your video and fixed in two minutes. My washer was new. It somehow got dislodged.
I found a sticker that says "UA-cam Certified Mechanic." Thankyou for your help. I disassembled the top portion and debris came out. I didn't think about trying to reassemble it right away to see if that fixed the problem. That's the difference between an experienced mechanic and someone like me. Instead I ordered the parts for all four faucets. And then I put the plunger in upside down. Once I figured it all out and put it in the correct way it turns out that the debris were the problem and now it's working fine. I ordered parts for the future I guess.
Thank you for the awesome video...I actually had an O-ring kit and was able to replace the broken O-ring in the valve. Worked like a charm...no more leaks! Thank you so very much!
I just fixed this very same issue thanks to this video. I'm so appreciative that you took the time to post this. I'm a single woman and I have to do a lot of handy stuff around the house myself.
Thank you! I just finished up this project cause of you. The previous owner epoxy the plastic part or it came that way, so I had fun busting that out without wrecking the threads annnnnd the plunger on the last one was in upside down! I was like no wonder it didn’t work! Again. Thanks for this vid.
Wow thank you so much. You explained the components very well. Like I was told, I was very careful when I unscrewed the white part (I needed vice grips), and voila, like someone else, I discovered that the black disc washer was off center., so not sealing properly. Easy fix, but I had to screw the white part back on quite tightly. I did look around on Amazon for the part just in case, and discovered that there were a number of folks who said that the part did not fit. There are a couple of different models with not very clear measurements....
I too, was happy to come across this video. Always thought that it required shutting off the " main" etc. Well today I picked up the repair kit at Lowes. Came home and excitedly went to work. The @#$×× thing didn't fit. Now at this point I started examining the old one.The O ring was falling apart. Went to my stash of assorted rings that I purchased from Harbor Freight many moons ago....found one....slapped it on and Voila! fixed.
Thank you! I've been putting this off since the fall - figured the whole thing had to be replaced. Nope. Just the plunger not sitting right. Five minutes and done. Thanks!
Lol just the fall I went through all 4 season. After this video it took 5 min then I'm done. The only thing that take me a little longer is going to the store and look for it
watched your anti siphon video today. I had no idea what was causing the leak. Followed your advise, just cleaned the plunger...and PRESTO!!! Good as New. Thanks I subscribed.
Thanks! I have this type of faucet and it is leaking from the top! So annoying! I started a vegetable garden with soaker hoses to minimize water usage and seeing water pour down from the top defeats the purpose of using soaker hoses to minimize my water usage. That drip can add up to a lot of wasted water. What clued me in was seeing the concrete under the hose completely soaked and after wrapping the faucet with nylon tape I saw the water dripping from the top of the anti-siphon valve.
I have to share this funny story. I went to Lowe’s looking for parts to repair my outdoor faucets after searching the plumbing aisle for a while I bumped into a friendly fellow who looked it up on his phone and then walked me 17 miles to the outdoor landscaping area because he thought I was looking for a hose, when I explained a little further that I was looking for a hose faucet repair kit not a hose. He escorted me to customer service. They said I should look in the plumbing aisle, which of course was 15 Isles back in the other direction, no escort, no assistance and no hose Bibb Repair kits were to be found. I guess I should’ve gone to Home Depot, where they seem to be a lot more knowledgeable, Or I’ll try Menards. Thanks for this video video though. It’s very helpful.
Thanks for the video- you just saved me a couple hours replacing my spigot! It's old enough and they're cheap enough but I'd still rather fix anything than replace!
Thanks for this video. After removing the piece I found the rubber washer worn and broken. Local hardware store replaced it free of charge. Voila! Leak fixed.
I watched your other video and thought that was the problem but it was the little seal here on this video that is the issue. I sure am learning a lot with your videos. Thanks so much!
Excellent video! My valve wasn't the same model as yours, but you gave me what I needed to figure it out (the rubber valve disc on the poppet had fallen off its spindle). All that I had to do was put everything back as it was supposed to be, and bingo - it works. Thank you!!
I can't even tell you how many of these videos showing hand tightening---and darn it, mine won't hand tighten. I'm quite jealous! Also, one size of these things does not fit all, so look up your part to make sure your store carries them--our local big box did not, but the local plumbing specific supply did, for a quarter of the price!
Tighten the packing nut. If that does not fix the second leak you can remove the packing nut. The packing is a rubber grommet that seals the valve stem. You can replace it. Either buy a kit with the grommet or better take a couple feet of teflon tape and double it over and role it up into a string. Wrap it around the stem and reassemble. Saw Richard do this on "Ask this old house".
The extra water leaking out was thru the handle. He needs to rebuild the whole valve inside. It also is an easy fix, But he will need to shut the water off to the silcock valve before fixing it. Other than that, what he showed is correct and very informative.
My plumber tightened the bib that helped stop the knob leak (now it’s a siphon leak). I guess after 20 years it would be wise to rebuild the valve and replace the siphon plastic parts :)
I was always under the impression that check valve was there to drain water out of the spigot housing so that it would not freeze in the winter, never heard that it had anything to do with hose water getting pulled back into your house. Either way, great video and thanks for showing it step by step!
Thank you! After removing the siphon valve I found a part of the rubber seal was folded over. Fixed that and the leaking stopped. Appreciate your guidance here!
Thank you man! Almost broke my whole wall down to replace the whole thing. Thought to myself let me see if I can find anything online and bam. Easy fix thank you
Thanks. This video helped me solve the leak from spigot. The plunger had come loose from the rubber washer. Did not replace anything for now but if leak comes back I now know what to replace.
This is an excellent do it yourself clip. I did wonder about that additional water leakage at the valve and you acknowledged it and will address. Thanks
I have this exact valve and couldn't figure out how to get the old part off. Thanks! BTW, The Anti-Siphon has nothing to do with the clean water supply! It's simply an air bleeder so your hoses can drain. The only yhing that would prevent back flow is a back flow check valve feeding the spigot inside the house!
THANK YOU, SCOTT! This is when the internet is amazing! My valve has been leaking like a firehose. There was someone who was more than willing to charge me $60 for looking at it. Instead, I watched your video, ran to Menards, paid $2.49 for a kit, and PROBLEM SOLVED. You are so wonderful. THANK YOU! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ PS: All I needed to do is take the plunger out of the new little kit and put it in the cap (as my plunger was really cracked)...so I didn't even need the whole kit. Worked like a charm!
Just fixed my leaky faucet using this repair kit. And looks like they also updated the design a bit , the insert is now an enclosed piece with the stopper contained inside it, and the bottom of it has some mesh to let the water flow. Now I can keep my automatic water timer attached to the faucet.
I wish had seen this video a week ago. I hired a plumber who did this tiny job in 5 minutes and robed me of $85.00. ( He charged me $25 for the plastic parts and a $60 service call.) I will do this myself the next time it happens. By-the-way, I found the parts for under $2.
Thanks so much! A quick fix for me. Little rubber gasket was out of place. I let mine go for months ( I gotta fix that...then it was out of my memory until I had to water the plants again)
Great video. Thanks for the guidance and instruction. This fixed my issue. The plastic part was cracked, plunger mechanism was otherwise fine. Need new kit for small cost. Saved money on plumber. 👏
Thank you! Always makes my day when I learn how to fix something myself instead of paying someone else a few hundred dollars. Very simple video and easy to follow, good job!

So you're saying I'm not the only who procrastinates little things like this!! Mine is still leaking must've done something wrong.
15 minutes? Nothing wrong with that.
I’m not a handy dude in my DNA and I think it took me under 5 minutes. Just that easy! $6 kit in 2024
Your intro was comforting. I just took care of two fifteen minute repairs that have been annoying me for two years. Glad I'm not alone.

Thank you! I just finished up this project cause of you. The previous owner epoxy the plastic part or it came that way, so I had fun busting that out without wrecking the threads annnnnd the plunger on the last one was in upside down! I was like no wonder it didn’t work! Again. Thanks for this vid.
Hey Mr. Lion sounds like you had a couple more speed bumps but glad to hear you were able to get the spigot back in working order. Take care!
I forgot to shut my water off, and it froze overnight. I am thankful for this video.
Thanks!
You got to love when a repair is actually easier than expected. Just wish it happened more often 👍
Lol just the fall I went through all 4 season. After this video it took 5 min then I'm done. The only thing that take me a little longer is going to the store and look for it
Thanks, you just saved me about $40. I was ready to replace the whole spigot.
Thank you !! I sure learned something here !! I will be fixing my hose faucets today and telling my neighbors about it!!
watched your anti siphon video today. I had no idea what was causing the leak. Followed your advise, just cleaned the plunger...and PRESTO!!! Good as New. Thanks I subscribed.
Boom! Good to hear it was an easy fix. 👍
Hey, this video helped me a lot. In our case the seal is broken and bought it from home depot for 2$ change. Thank you 😊
Not a bad price for a repair 👍
Thanks for the detailed video! Fixed mine at zero cost, washer was out of place on top of plunger.
I did a complete rebuild of this using your guidance. Thank you so much!
Thanks to your very clear video, I was able to repair the anti siphon valve by just replacing the washer.
Thanks for the video- you just saved me a couple hours replacing my spigot! It's old enough and they're cheap enough but I'd still rather fix anything than replace!
Thanks for this video. After removing the piece I found the rubber washer worn and broken. Local hardware store replaced it free of charge. Voila! Leak fixed.
Perfect!! I’m running to Menards in the morning and fix this myself!! Thank you for the video!
Thank you!!
Never dealt with antisiphon leaks. Very helpful. Thank you
Appreciate the video. I was about to call a plumber, watched your video and realized how trivial it is to fix on my own.
Always nice when you can save a little money.
Scott, you are my home repair hero.
Great video. Thanks for the info. I installed three of them and within one year they each leaked. Stay safe.
Thank you again. Both videos took the mistery away.
Thanks Scott, this saved me from a expensive visit from the plumber.
Watched you vid and fixed mine in 2 seconds. The valve had loosened. Thanks!!!
Nice, love the easy fixes!
The extra water leaking out was thru the handle. He needs to rebuild the whole valve inside. It also is an easy fix, But he will need to shut the water off to the silcock valve before fixing it. Other than that, what he showed is correct and very informative.
Hey Chawn, thanks for chiming in 👍
My plumber tightened the bib that helped stop the knob leak (now it’s a siphon leak). I guess after 20 years it would be wise to rebuild the valve and replace the siphon plastic parts :)
Hahaha, yeah I would say 20 years is a good run and probably time to start fresh.
Thank you! Fully agree w others that clear explanations of the WHY is great when given along with the HOW. Nice job.
Thanks Bob.
Thank you! After the last freeze the water moved the seal and all i had to do was align it and it fixed the leak! Thank you!!
Thank you for posting this. Just fixed mine in 5 minutes. It sure beats paying a plumber!
For Sure!
Thank you! This helped me to get the job done without having to bother the hubby!
watched your vid and it worked perfectly. Simple, minor fix was needed (washer ring was bad). Thanks!
Love the easy fixes.
I was always under the impression that check valve was there to drain water out of the spigot housing so that it would not freeze in the winter, never heard that it had anything to do with hose water getting pulled back into your house. Either way, great video and thanks for showing it step by step!
I believe you are correct. How can hose water get pulled into the house when the faucet is closed inside the house.
Thank you! After removing the siphon valve I found a part of the rubber seal was folded over. Fixed that and the leaking stopped. Appreciate your guidance here!
Thank you. Discovered this issue this spring I was clueless. No more! Thanks again
Hey Jamie, glad the video helped 👍
Thank you man! Almost broke my whole wall down to replace the whole thing. Thought to myself let me see if I can find anything online and bam. Easy fix thank you
💥 👍
Thanks. This video helped me solve the leak from spigot. The plunger had come loose from the rubber washer. Did not replace anything for now but if leak comes back I now know what to replace.
What if it's leaking at the handle and you do not have that top plastic section
This is an excellent do it yourself clip. I did wonder about that additional water leakage at the valve and you acknowledged it and will address. Thanks
Thank you for the detailed video and the demo of how the vacuum breaker works. Really helpful.
THANK YOU! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
PS: All I needed to do is take the plunger out of the new little kit and put it in the cap (as my plunger was really cracked)...so I didn't even need the whole kit. Worked like a charm!
We are here to help, thanks for the great feedback!
Thank you for this quick fix video, I followed the instructions and fix my garden faucet.
Just fixed my leaky faucet using this repair kit. And looks like they also updated the design a bit , the insert is now an enclosed piece with the stopper contained inside it, and the bottom of it has some mesh to let the water flow. Now I can keep my automatic water timer attached to the faucet.
Shut your mouth! Joking but I will order another just to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
I wish had seen this video a week ago. I hired a plumber who did this tiny job in 5 minutes and robed me of $85.00. ( He charged me $25 for the plastic parts and a $60 service call.) I will do this myself the next time it happens. By-the-way, I found the parts for under $2.
2 Bucks!?!? Can't beat that, where did you find the kit for that cheap?
God ..I love the internet...thanks everyday repairs
Thanks so much! A quick fix for me. Little rubber gasket was out of place. I let mine go for months ( I gotta fix that...then it was out of my memory until I had to water the plants again)
Thanks for the help. Was able to fix the problem- the ring gasket above the threading.
Got to love the easy fixes 👍
Great video. Thanks for the guidance and instruction. This fixed my issue. The plastic part was cracked, plunger mechanism was otherwise fine. Need new kit for small cost. Saved money on plumber. 👏
Boom 💥 👊
Great video! I was thinking i needed to replace the entire faucet, but what an easy fix!!!!
Hey thank for showing how to fix this, I also left the hose connected over winter and sufferer the same problem. I’m ordering the part today.
Great video! Was able to swap out the washer with one I had at home. No more leaks! Thanks.
Thank you, I took the knob off and tightened the white thing and it worked.
Thank you! Always makes my day when I learn how to fix something myself instead of paying someone else a few hundred dollars. Very simple video and easy to follow, good job!
Hey Jeff, happy to help and you are right basically any service call adds up to 100’s of dollars almost independent of the complexity. Saving 💰 👊
