American Century & Limnos Meet passing in Marine City on Sept 30th, 2024

American Century - One of the favorite “Footers” of the Great Lakes, she was built in 1981 as a self-unloader bulk cargo carrier by the Bay Shipbuilding Co, Sturgeon Bay, WI.
She was known as the Columbia Star from ’81-’96. She is 1,000’ in length, has a beam of 105’ and her capacity of 80,900 tons puts her in the top 4 of capacity of any vessel on the Great Lakes. She is powered by 4 GM EMD-20-645-E7B 20-cylinder Diesels that develop 14,400 bhp turning twin changeable pitch propellers.
