I spent a LOT of time in this game world after it released. It's just SO FUN. Kudos for completing the game on hard, I got about halfway through and then just got throttled by every military encounter, then gave up on hard, went back to normal.
That title is a bit of an understatement, this trophy/achievement was definitely the hardest in the whole game. It was brutal. But it got me my 75th platinum trophy I was so happy.
There was actually one trick that made Raid INSANELY less of a trouble which managed to net me the plat in the first try. It's the friggin' Artilery Strike. I never used this skill before because it just seemed too much of a hassle to pull of in the midst of a busy battle. So short little story: I got PROTOTYPE 2 on my ps3 a little while ago and set a goal to beat the game on the hardest difficulty which was I think was surprisingly not an achievement, but I went and did it anyway. (I usually do the hardest difficulty in games just so I don't have to deal with playing through it again and again) I swear the absolute hardest fight in that game was against the original protagonist (I forgot his name) and I literally had my hands shaking after about 3 whole hours of constantly grinding the bossfight until I won. One of the most stupid but satisfying things I've ever done. And it wasn't even like the other missions were that hard they were surprisingly easy on the hardest difficulty. If I had to score the difficulty I'd say that the rest of the game was about a somewhat decent 50-65/100 while the bossfight was a 200/100. There was no reason ithe bossfight had to be that janky tho 💀 Jack, if you ever decide to go and try to "101%" beat PROTOTYPE 2, please make sure you prepare enough time ahead for yourself!
I love this game but I haven’t been able to 100% it. The only achievements I’ve missed are the platinum medals for events and playing the game on hard.
YES THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was so pumped when you replied I’ve been checking the channel daily 😅 Another amazing video of a game from my childhood. Thank you so much Jack. As someone with failing health this means the most! ❤
Never usually go for 100% but i did promise myself to 100% all darksiders games and damn, 2 was really painful, probably not as bad as some of the games youve played, which made me respect the shit out of you, realised how much dedication it takes But damn it felt good to get it :D
I remember being stuck on that bossfight in times square when going for the hard difficulty trophy on ps4, i gave up and just played prototype 2 instead, i love both games but that trophy is just extremely hard for me for some reason
GG for completing this achievement list! I did this both on Xbox 360 and on the Remastered on Xbox One. I think if you found out about the falling attack with the Blade power earlier you would have beaten some bosses a lot quicker. From what I recall, it blows tanks up instantly on Easy and Normal, and leaves them next to destroyed on Hard. Besides this, I believe the other 2 Devastator attacks are quite reliable to deal damage. The "Kamehameha" looking one is definitely the best single-target damage attack. Out of the 1/3 of health you're allowed to take off from Elizabeth Greene in each phase, I think this attack shaves off like half or 1/3 of health. The Spike Devastator is also pretty useful for destroying her smaller health bars as it hits them all (and even destroys them in one go, if you manage to activate it while standing below her).
As someone who platinumed this game twice (once on ps3 and once on ps4), I could NOT stand the landmarks and hints. Gompleting all of the plat missions? Pretty rough. The bloodtox missions and Greene? Not easy. Meticulously finding every single one of those stupid blue and pink orbs? Awful, just downright awful it's not even difficult its just mindless and time consuming. I wish they had something like how infamous does it, where mercer could detect nearby collectibles. Would've saved me so much time bc it was way more of a pain getting streetwise than it was getting rockhound or just one more in the infamous games. Regardless this is still one of my favorite games of all time, hence the two platinums, and I love seeing youtubers play it and give it the love it deserves. Great video.
The way i did the Elizabeth Greene boss fight was with the blade, her homing projectiles do not pass terrain so if you climbed reeeealy high on one of the nearby buildings you could avoid them very easily and then i'd just throw the spin air attack with the blade from the top of the building (always aiming to the boss). From that hight, it would usually take 2 to 4 slashes to murder the health bars and then one more time (quickly) when it's down to destroy her actual life bar. She CAN stop your attacks with the homming green things, but if you time it properly they fly past you
Prototype (only the first one) was one of the very few games where the protagonist was something that could _never_ be truly good but yet did everything he could to be the lesser evil, it was also one of the few games were you were completely overpowered yet the game wasn't easy unless you cheesed it. I loved Alex Mercer as a character and I _hate_ how they ruined him in the second game (good gameplay but less powers and overly simplistic and needlessly vulgar main character along with the game being ridiculously easy even on max difficulty due to being effectively invincible the moment you get the shields and all collectibles/bonus mutations can be acquired easily as soon as you first arrive in a zone since the game legit guides you to them when close enough). Years ago I eventually 100% this game and I don't regret it since despite being one of the most challenging undertaking of it's time it was never boring.
The side content in this game is genuinely SO GOOD! CHALLENGING AND FUN! Balanced REALLY well especially if you are going for Gold! Unfortunately, the controls are aged, pretty clunky and I genuinely think they can get in the way sometimes and getting used to them will take a good bit of practice. Not sure if it was intentional and it does make a difficulty curve of it's own, but part of it is magnified by the fact that you can run damn near 60 miles per hour so the slightest misstep is way exaggerated. I also found the Supreme Hunter and Elizabeth Greene fights to be enjoyable since as you mentioned the rest of the game is pretty much a breeze. A welcome change of pace, a couple true skill checks, which was really noticeable since when I fought them later on I saw actual improvements
I remember the Elizabeth fight, I run up to a nearby rooftop, then used the hammerfist slam ability over and over, it took a while but it let me avoid the hunters.
The only thing I'm missing for this game is the time trial trophies and it was one of those rare times I looked at a trophy list and just realised I couldn't be bothered with the grind it required. The game wasn't interesting enough for that.
This game is like a open world Spiderman game, but instead of Spidey, you play Carnage. Would totally play it again if they ever remaster it, tho chances for that happening are sadly pretty slim.
There are quite some moves that are effective on Greene. Hammertoss, Musclemass Bulletdrop. You can fling yourself and time an air devastator. My favorite is flinging myself and doing pre-devastator air Musclemass attacks. Very slow, but kinda funny.
Nice to see prototype videos even nowadays. I did a bit of hunting about a year back. Only two achievements were actually hard in Prototype, rather than just time consuming, imo. Technically four. Streetwise and Polymath. For respectively all location and hint orbs throughout the city. They were technically hard, because at some point in time... people probably did these without guides. Fucking absurd to collect landmark orbs when half the time they're nestled in building corners or alleyways and don't always even load in properly until you're right on them. It made it fundamentally soul-crushing, to say nothing of the fact that there was *_200_* fucking orbs scattered randomly throughout the city, rather than having like 20 on ACTUAL LANDMARKS. I say they are technically hard only because I did them with a map when I actually wanted the achievement. With cloud saves and whatnot, I have a save file on my PS4 that's on about the 14th run of new game, and I have 120 landmarks total from playing through the game naturally over a dozen times. So yeah. The only two I consider legitimately difficult are Revenge Revisited and PT. Pt because there are a few events where you're in a tank fighting other tanks and APCs, and it's DIFFICULT to get those without dying unless you're on easy, and I've never played on anything but normal. And Revenge Revisited makes the game so fucking different. Prototype does NOT feel like it was ever actually balanced to be played on hard for a challenge, as a lot of encounters turn into you don't nothing but whipfisting from a distance or doing one or two safe attacks, rather than actually using your powers and feeling powerful. Hit and run becomes the name of the game, which doesn't feel like how the game should be played in many scenarios. I still feel salt in my throat from anger thinking back on the Greene fight and assaulting the Bloodtox Depot.
If I remember it correctly there was this glitch where entering a fight in a challenge map and being on the brink of dying and quiting made you invincible for pretty much 99% of the game making difficulty a breeze except for the helicopter and tank missions.
Forgot all about this game! Remember getting it shorty after it released and found it boring as hell. Got about 90 mins into it and switched it off. Never ever went back to it. Nice video anyway brother 🤘
Just subscribed after binging all of your videos completing achievements. Can't wait to see what other games you have in your backlog to complete. My white Xbox 360 finally gave out after 14 years so recently getting a new one (this time a slim to avoid the heating issues again). You might be inspiring me to go back and try to finish some games myself once my new Xbox 360. (I frankly have a lot of LEGO games to 100% yet. XD)
Fun movement tip: When climbing a building, spam dash and jump (alternating) instead of sprinting and charging jumps. Not sure that it's faster, but it may be helpful if you're not charging a jump or it gets interrupted.
So I went back and checked, I have 3 missing achievements from this game. Hard Difficulty Kill 53’596 infected Collect the 200 blue orbs I have no memory of doing the Gold/Platinum medals but I have the achievements for them.
For the movement ones, the best thing is to do small jumps and air dash a lot. Dont glide unless you need to. For war, there can only be a limited amount of large infected at a time, so if you kill them all, they respawn in another wave. Killing the small infected is best. Also, tapping L2/LT makes time slow down, so its better to do that instead of holding it down, when dealing with hunters. For Kill, theres usually one move that does AOE that youre supposed to use, like steet sweeper or blade frenzy.
maan this game brings back a nostalgia, back where i am from, the internet cafe was just started, like only a few good ones. then this guy came out and no one but me and my buddies were playing this game, just in town destroying everything without a care of plot, achievements and etc 🤣🥲prob gonna play it now maybe. love ur content man keep it up :)
Elizabeth Greene is one of my favorite boss fights, and for that fight l just used the blade and shield powers. Just pull the shield up and run up to her and jump, then use the air slice ability, retreat and repeat.
Great vid bruh, this really took a lot of time and effort to do, record and post. I played pt1 and pt2 back on ps3 and platinumed pt2 and was only missing 3 trophies for pt1... But since they where one of my favorite games I got them on ps4 a week ago and wanna play em again when I got time so was interested in going for plats. But since I saw this video and I am not in games what I used to be since life and I don't have time to play I'll just get all the trophies in 1 run and some free roam apart from beating the game on hard (which I might do one weekend when I feel like it since I've done it on ps3) but deff won't do the gold or platinum medals and the collectibles are iffy too since I've done them on ps3 without no guide when I was a kid.
thank you! the collectables are the worst bit in my opinion, they're just so boring. good luck with your adventures though, i'm working on prototype 2 at the moment!
Aye broski I played for the weekend and literally am just missing 2 trophies. I wanna ask you if you can give me some advice on "Center of power" flying event since I got gold/plats in 6h on all others but this I can't manage to get a gold even, its the last one I need...
Gotta say, first up, going after the collectibles only to end up with 199/200 TWICE was probably even more painful than finding out your kind and loving wife is actually your sister Second, platinuming those parkour challenges made me miss the goddamn gambler challenges in RDR2 And third, driving over infected for 2 hours straight in a tank because a dev thought implementing a joke trophy was funny was everything but fun. Looking at math equations for 2 hour straight, or watching a wall dry are probably more fun than doing the same braindead task for 2 hours Honorable mention: Prototype's "hard mode" is what I'd actually call a hard mode. Banging my head against a wall because they just had to implement a timer in the last section of the final boss really opened my eyes on why women think 2 minutes is too short All in all, with that said, *Prototype 3 when?*
I remember playing this at a friend place way back in high school when the game was somewhat new. I remember I just didn’t really play too much of it honestly. Forgot bout it til now.
Strangely I finished this game just the other day so these achievements are fresh in my mind. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the achievements were a slog lol.
This video was awesome, prototype it's an realy hard game And i got an sugestion if you have spider man web of shadows or any devil may cry try get some achivments at the game, dmc its realy hard
The Elizabeth Green Boss isn't actually that Hard. The method l do is l constantly use the Tedril Devestater on her. You fly and land right beside her and unleash the Tedril Devestater. That knocks off 2 bars off ALL 3 defence bars. Fly around the corner and get health back, then repeat by flying back right beside her and unleashing another tedril Devestater. Once you knocked all the bars off use your Sword and slash away at her while it's downed. Soon as she gets back up air dash and glide around the corner, because she will let out that RAWR that will kill you if you get caught in it. And then repeat the same method again. And what you said about that glitch on the events l actually DID get that glitch when l first did Prototype on PS3. I wanted to get Platinum on all events as l did them. So l looked up a guide for each one and grinded each event out until l got the Platinum score without even unlocking Patinum rank yet. Got to the last event with every single event before Platinum. And l ended up getting a Platinum rank on my last one first try, and the game glitched and DIDNT give me the trophy for Platinum all events. So l have to start a NEW game and start from scratch. I was pissed lol So l have actually Platinumed this game 4 times so far technically. My first one was when it glitched. Then l did it all again to make it twice. And l don't even use that account any more, so l Platinumed the game AGAIN on my PlatinumChaser account. One of my friends couldn't do the events, so l did them all for him. So l done it all FOUR TIMES lol Now I'm on my 5th time through, because l am doing the PS4 version now. I only have one EASY glide event left, then will have done ALL the events with a Platinum rank 5 different times lol
Nice vid For everyone wondering why this masterpiece and part 2 dont run on new pc: the games cant handle more than 4 cores at 8 threads. disable all but 4 cores and run it ;) Also: its framerate is tied down by unused HID devices in device manager, finding and disabling those can gett you 100+fps
I remember playing this game as a kid/teen Getting every archievement wasnt that hard, except for hard mode, stealth and the collectible ones Getting gold and plat in all medals was actually more fun than challenging, I really liked the racing ones, but the one with the tank was the absolute worst thing ever For the deathless run I would just go into easy+ and beat the game like that Beating the game on hard was challenging but nothing a little grinding for perks couldnt solve Since I would just go in and blast everything, it was hard for me to get used to the stealth mode but, once i got into it, i started to enjoy infiltrating military bases without alerting anyone But after that, since Lil' ol' me would never use a guide (cuz i didnt know those where a thing back in the day), you would see me running around trying to find these collectible things, but eventually I would just give up and be like "welp, i got everything else, so im gonna say i got them all, yeah" and that was that
that greene fight got me most frustrated - after good 30 minutes of struggling i got her to about one or two hits left, (accidently?) jumped to hijack a heli and these fuckers just flew away from mission area and mission was failed.
I seem to recall the otherwise mostly useless muscleboost form being clutch for the Green fight. Literally just fling stuff at her for the fight. It's not FAST but I seem to recall it being safe.
This game is very underrated. It’s a shame it’s another amazing franchise that has been generally forgotten by most.
To be fair the second game took a giant shit on Alex’s story which already barely existed and made him into a cringey caricature of a villain. 🤷🏻♂️

If I had to score the difficulty I'd say that the rest of the game was about a somewhat decent 50-65/100 while the bossfight was a 200/100. There was no reason ithe bossfight had to be that janky tho 💀
Jack, if you ever decide to go and try to "101%" beat PROTOTYPE 2, please make sure you prepare enough time ahead for yourself!
I love this game but I haven’t been able to 100% it. The only achievements I’ve missed are the platinum medals for events and playing the game on hard.
Just found your channel and watched the video and really enjoyed it.
I hope you will continue the series!
This game owned my summer of 2009! So many memories! I'm missing 1 blue orb. Back in 2009 the guides were crappy pictures only...
YES THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was so pumped when you replied I’ve been checking the channel daily 😅 Another amazing video of a game from my childhood. Thank you so much Jack. As someone with failing health this means the most! ❤
Thank you for honoring my request to upload a video about prototype achievements
Awesome ! I remember playing this back in the day on my 360
Prototype absolutely needs a modern remake.
Never usually go for 100% but i did promise myself to 100% all darksiders games and damn, 2 was really painful, probably not as bad as some of the games youve played, which made me respect the shit out of you, realised how much dedication it takes
But damn it felt good to get it :D
I remember being stuck on that bossfight in times square when going for the hard difficulty trophy on ps4, i gave up and just played prototype 2 instead, i love both games but that trophy is just extremely hard for me for some reason
I absolutely loved prototype and finished it on hard.
Good to know, thank you! If I ever do the remastered at least I'll know for then 😂
@@JForJackPlays you're welcome! I'd be happy to see you get all achievements from scratch :D (and for Prototype 2 if you didn't already)
Trail of Corpses is the hardest one. Not for the sake of difficulty either, but just overall time and dedication.
Yeah I don't really remember getting that one!
I think I just farmed an event over and over
Such a good vid bro I’m missing like 20 achievements on this game now I’ll try to get them all.
thanks a lot!
go get them and let me know when you're done haha, you got this
As someone who platinumed this game twice (once on ps3 and once on ps4), I could NOT stand the landmarks and hints.
Great video.
thanks a lot!
yeah i enjoyed it a lot, doesnt help i didnt use everything the game gave me but oh well
I remember trying to 100% the Xbox One version and I'm pretty sure I gave up because of the platinum trials
She CAN stop your attacks with the homming green things, but if you time it properly they fly past you
Yeah i've heard that is the best way to do it! If i go for the 100% on the xbox one version i'll be doing that!
thanks
Ive played countless hours in 1 and 2 easily one of my favorite games from my childhood
Years ago I eventually 100% this game and I don't regret it since despite being one of the most challenging undertaking of it's time it was never boring.
the Elizabeth greene fight was absolute insanity, remember slaving away at it when i was 10 XD
Jack you have gained a new subscriber! Keep up the work bro, I now kinda wanna go back and play prototype 2. Now I got 19 mor videos to watch. ❤
I’m glad your channel showed up on my feed! Great videos and glad your growing! I’m the the USA
The only thing I'm missing for this game is the time trial trophies and it was one of those rare times I looked at a trophy list and just realised I couldn't be bothered with the grind it required. The game wasn't interesting enough for that.
don't blame you!
I remember this game and I remember getting all achievements on my first run.
Ah.. Good painful powerful memories. This gem of a game is timeless. Props my dude for your skill and determination.
thanks a lot!
im working on the second currently and really enjoying it to be honest, never played it back in the day
If I remember it correctly there was this glitch where entering a fight in a challenge map and being on the brink of dying and quiting made you invincible for pretty much 99% of the game making difficulty a breeze except for the helicopter and tank missions.
I did hear about that but wanted to do it legit 😎
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this game is difficult.
played on normal and didn't expected some parts to be so frustrating...
The way this game plays, felt incredibly similar to the hulk ultimate destruction.
Forgot all about this game! Remember getting it shorty after it released and found it boring as hell. Got about 90 mins into it and switched it off. Never ever went back to it.
Nice video anyway brother 🤘
28:34 That's because he sometimes pulls out his electric baton after firing the grenade launcher.
Welcome to the 1000g Prototype club. That is to this day one of my proudest completions if not my proudest.
You’ve inspired me to get this finished this year only have 5 achievements left
Good luck!
@@JForJackPlayshi mate I managed to get all the achievements last Saturday thanks for this video definitely helped with hard mode
@@stevenashby582 Ah nice one!
Glad to hear it.
Reward yourself with prototype 2 next it's super easy haha
@@JForJackPlays already 100% that when it came out lol
I didn't 100% it but finished the game recently again. Just as good as I remembered. Congrats on 100%ing it though, the video was really fun to watch
Thank you very much! Yeah it was fun and I plan on doing the second soon.
Got lots of other games planned/on the go also!
thanks
@@JForJackPlays I'll come back to your channel after finishing the sequel then :) Have a nice day mate
So I went back and checked, I have 3 missing achievements from this game.
Hard Difficulty
Kill 53’596 infected
Collect the 200 blue orbs
I have no memory of doing the Gold/Platinum medals but I have the achievements for them.
That's not bad!
Go get that 100%
For the movement ones, the best thing is to do small jumps and air dash a lot.
I do love the cleaned up versions for the Xbox one, they look very nice and still play very well.
I always hate going back onto the 360 to complete games that aren’t BC because of how awful the 360 controller feels compared to the One 😩
dude facts they feel so wonky the joysticks especially
“Difficulty setting does affects events”
Me who found this video while trying to complete a event and have already done 3/4 of events on hard 👁️👄👁️
Elizabeth Greene is one of my favorite boss fights, and for that fight l just used the blade and shield powers. Just pull the shield up and run up to her and jump, then use the air slice ability, retreat and repeat.
Great script. Loved the analysis. Sometimes creators don’t talk enough strategy and what did and didn’t work.
Thanks a lot
“I only had 7 achievements left” I look at the video and see it’s over a half hour long. Bless your soul.
Yeah unfortunately they were the 7 hardest/longest basically 🤣
I could never beat this game as a kid. Once the military drone got too good at detecting Alex I just couldn't figure out how to get around them.
@@JForJackPlays Deff will check it out once you drop it.
Aye broski I played for the weekend and literally am just missing 2 trophies. I wanna ask you if you can give me some advice on "Center of power" flying event since I got gold/plats in 6h on all others but this I can't manage to get a gold even, its the last one I need...
Gotta say, first up, going after the collectibles only to end up with 199/200 TWICE was probably even more painful than finding out your kind and loving wife is actually your sister
Second, platinuming those parkour challenges made me miss the goddamn gambler challenges in RDR2
And third, driving over infected for 2 hours straight in a tank because a dev thought implementing a joke trophy was funny was everything but fun. Looking at math equations for 2 hour straight, or watching a wall dry are probably more fun than doing the same braindead task for 2 hours
Honorable mention:
Prototype's "hard mode" is what I'd actually call a hard mode.
Banging my head against a wall because they just had to implement a timer in the last section of the final boss really opened my eyes on why women think 2 minutes is too short
All in all, with that said, *Prototype 3 when?*
i had that going for the assassins creed flags. took me 10+ years to build up the strength to go do it again
Slog is a good way to describe it for sure
holy crap I remember playing this game for an entire summer as a kid fun memories
This video was awesome, prototype it's an realy hard game
And i got an sugestion if you have spider man web of shadows or any devil may cry try get some achivments at the game, dmc its realy hard
I was pissed lol
So l have actually Platinumed this game 4 times so far technically. My first one was when it glitched. Then l did it all again to make it twice. And l don't even use that account any more, so l Platinumed the game AGAIN on my PlatinumChaser account. One of my friends couldn't do the events, so l did them all for him. So l done it all FOUR TIMES lol
Now I'm on my 5th time through, because l am doing the PS4 version now. I only have one EASY glide event left, then will have done ALL the events with a Platinum rank 5 different times lol
Me and my buddy %100 this game on the 360. We loved it and treated it like a watered down DMC
Nice vid
For everyone wondering why this masterpiece and part 2 dont run on new pc: the games cant handle more than 4 cores at 8 threads. disable all but 4 cores and run it ;)
Also: its framerate is tied down by unused HID devices in device manager, finding and disabling those can gett you 100+fps
So happy I found your channel bro, keep the vids coming :)
Thank you!
Weird it's not back compatible I guess that's to boost the sales of the collection they made with 1+2
needs a remaster, so that the graphics and some gameplay could be smothed out
I remember playing this game as a kid/teen
Getting every archievement wasnt that hard, except for hard mode, stealth and the collectible ones
Getting gold and plat in all medals was actually more fun than challenging, I really liked the racing ones, but the one with the tank was the absolute worst thing ever
For the deathless run I would just go into easy+ and beat the game like that
Beating the game on hard was challenging but nothing a little grinding for perks couldnt solve
Since I would just go in and blast everything, it was hard for me to get used to the stealth mode but, once i got into it, i started to enjoy infiltrating military bases without alerting anyone
But after that, since Lil' ol' me would never use a guide (cuz i didnt know those where a thing back in the day), you would see me running around trying to find these collectible things, but eventually I would just give up and be like "welp, i got everything else, so im gonna say i got them all, yeah" and that was that
Being a completionist is hard sometimes 🙃
My first playthrough of the game I thought I could do it without dying but Elizabeth Greene said no.
that greene fight got me most frustrated - after good 30 minutes of struggling i got her to about one or two hits left, (accidently?) jumped to hijack a heli and these fuckers just flew away from mission area and mission was failed.
I was just talking about how rough this platinum trophy was for me when the game came out. I still curse those platinum medals to this day😂
Yeah I gave up going for the 100% back in the day.. refused to be defeated this time though! Very happy to have it done
I seem to recall the otherwise mostly useless muscleboost form being clutch for the Green fight. Literally just fling stuff at her for the fight. It's not FAST but I seem to recall it being safe.
