      @tarassu 9 років тому

      +ShaunJW1 Disagree. Too many small mistakes. Also cameraman is not pro (dark shots everywhere, focus problems).
      Vehicle itself is more like bling-bling than real SUV.
      Should have shown driving dynamics with EV mode. Should have said something about fuel consumtion on highway without eletric drive.
      Most of things were recorded only once. Should have made other takes if any mistake was made.

    • @ShaunJW1
      @ShaunJW1 9 років тому

      Arnis Tarassu Some of us enjoy a full extensive review focusing on smaller details, which this video does.

    • @tarassu
      @tarassu 9 років тому +1

      +ShaunJW1 Extesinve? Are you sure? Nothing about:
      headlight cleaning, night-driving headlights, night-time interior lights, driver helping systems.
      He didn't even open the sunroof. Don't ever say "extensive" if most things are missing. Did you even hear the sound of the engine?
      I'm pretty convinced this is not even in-depth review.
      Also he was not commenting critically (no opinions at all).
      3rd row seats and removing that cover "I will just put it on the ground" - excellent work. We all do that when we really use 3rd row.

    Thomas. you are the best reviewer out there. Now I need to see YOUR review of the T-8 XC60 and, particularly, love when you sit in the back seat as you are my height. I am so over 60, 70,000 dollar vehicles that no one can sit in the rear like the Macan. Particularly interested how the XC60 Incription T-8 stacks up against the Discovery Sport HSE top of the line because that has amazing packaging with so much rear leg room. Have sat in the new Velar and was so disappointed by the sizing packaging of a 185+ inch long car that is 80K in the U.S. loaded with no plug. I think if you want lux, rear leg room and plug-in, in the mid-segment (F-Pace/Disco Sport/Macan/GLC/XC60), the T-8 XC60 may be the only choice. Please do that next.

    • @markgeller5900
      @markgeller5900 7 років тому

      I just watched it. Thank you for your usual thorough job. It was nice to see the back room seating look sufficient for larger humans. Of all the reviews, you are the only one who does this. Thank you.
      It is a shame Volvo does not allow you here in the U.S. (maybe in Europe also?) to buy the R design exterior, which I think is more attractive, without having to have dark alcantara looking seats and a dark headliner, which makes the interior look small and is not IMO very attractive. I will look forward to your driving an Inscription, with plug-in and air suspension, to hear you evaluate the ride in this now top of the line model, particularly in- city. I suspect that that will be on 19's, which I believe most people will also want for ride quality. Your reviews are the best.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  7 років тому

      Thanks! The XC60 we showed was Inscription, that is always sadly packed with animal skin though...
      At a later stage we ll surely check the T8 !

    • @markgeller5900
      @markgeller5900 7 років тому

      Thank you Thomas. Could care less about the skins generally, but if there was a box to check for a good-looking durable seating material, other than that, I would be one of the first to check it just due to the hot climate here. Care a bunch about the T-8, it's performance, ride quality (hopefully, you will get your hands on the air suspension), particularly in the city with 19's or 20's, and rear seat room as they are going to be a bit North of 60,000 dollars here. Thank you for the reply and your terrific reviews with all the little details. This is especially true since no other manufacturer, in lux mid-size, other than BMW, offer the plug-in also here so far.

    • @peterharrison1977
      @peterharrison1977 7 років тому

      I'm right with you on the practicality aspect of these high performance SUVs! Also looked at a Macan and was very disappointed with the interior space for such a relatively large car. I test drove the new XC60 and it was much more practical inside. Loads of rear legroom and decent boot space. Obviously the XC90 is even bigger overall, but I think legroom in the XC60 rear may even be slightly better than the middle seats of the 90. But regardless they are both plenty big enough for most in the back! I'm going to test drive both the XC60 & 90 in T8 form this month, so will let you know how they compare. Also going to test a Tesla Model X for something even more cutting edge! Despite the "coupe" styling it's a lot more practical inside than I expected and a genuine 7-seater like the XC90. I've also driven the Disco Sport HSE and agree that the interior packaging is amazing and the ride is comfortable and refined, but overall I don't think the quality and luxury feel is in the same league as these new Volvos and the engine is most disappointing (this was the 180 hp diesel). Also nothing but doom and gloom on the forums regarding Land Rover build quality.

    However, i really hope the camerawork will get better. Always use manual focus, like the "pros". I hate to wait for the autofocus to get aim. At some points in the movie it really is anoying. @10:59

    According to the reviewer, the hybrid model's gasoline engine powers only the front wheels. The first question that comes to mind is whether the vehicle will lose AWD if you've drained the battery. Would I have to let the engine idle for a long period before the battery is charged enough to enable AWD, or even worse, would I be reaching for a very long extension cord to pull me out of a snowy rut?

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  9 років тому

      +Nicholas H Indeed, the T8 has no mechanical link between the front and rear wheels

    • @andreash2502
      @andreash2502 9 років тому

      Don't worry, in 4WD mode the petrol engine is constantly charging the battery to ensure full traction if required.

    • @aryapradhanad186
      @aryapradhanad186 9 років тому

      +Andreas H How do you know ? I think if the engine charges the battery on the move the power of the engine will decrease and the fuel consumption will decrease too.

    • @aryapradhanad186
      @aryapradhanad186 9 років тому

      +Autogefühl He means that if the battery is dead and he wants to change to awd or off road mode do I have to wait for the engine to charge the battery for short time or have to find a charging station because the T8 version doesn't have mechanical links for the awd and the battery just power the rear wheels and the engine for the front wheels.

      +Arya Pradhana Darmaputra I am running the V60 Plug in Hybrid since 12 Months: 220 hp Diesel + 70 hp electric energy. I can charge the battery any time by running the "save battery mode". As the full power from the Diesel engine is required during fast acceleration only, there is normally plenty power left for feeding the electric generator that is charging the battery. Of course, fuel consumption goes up, while charging the battery. When the battery is empty, you dont need to wait to run in 4WD. The Diesel engine will drive the electric generator that will provide immediately enough electric power for the electric motor. The spill over will be stored in the battery. I towed a boat trailer 2.800 km from Portugal to Germany. Whenever I needed 4WD (e.g. steep gravel road) it was available immediately.
      Summary: if there is Diesel in the tank, you can always run in 4WD mode and have full traction on both axles. I assume, it is organized in the T8 similarily.

    for the plug in hybrid, how does the battery work on road trips? can the engine run and/or slowly recharge the battery while driving if there is no plug in nearby? I know it is a plug in but I am still curious to know if it can run with a flat battery, or if it can recharge it.

    the car shows the decline of society as all the new-rich people only care for the looks. as the good quality back sides were critizised. and who needs chrome parts otger than fir compensation for different body parts. like the golden apple watch. volvo wants to make money and is about to lower their standarts like every other manufacturer did. well a final sentence has to be spoken on the long run, but i hope volvo didnt give up their almost a century long principles.
