Hey everyone! As the commissioner of this incredible bop of a track, I’m happy to see everyone enjoying it! As a fan of both series, this MU popped into my head years ago and it hasn’t left. Two of the best secret agents of their secret organizations. Each from comedic shows, yet despite their similarities on paper, these two couldn’t be more different in personality. One a stoic, serious, straight man who gets the mission done at any cost. While the other is a silly, arrogant, goofball who’s more than likely to accidentally complete the mission than do it on purpose. Seeing these two clash would definitely be a treat!
With the references I gave Brandon (TBD by (K)NOW NAME and Danger Zone by Cherlene) I was curious how this would come out. Wonderfully as it turns out. A true bop that fits with any 007 song.
As for who wins, while Archer is a skilled spy and shouldn’t be dismissed for his demeanor, Loid should take this one. Yes, he takes his missions more seriously but more than that, he’s blocked hits from Yor. Yor, the super strong, super assassin who punted a ball into space. I don’t think Archer’s got anything like that up his sleeve.

Loid tries the flour trick from the first episode of Spy X Family. Archer has no idea what happens when you introduce a spark into a cloud of combustible airborne particulates. His first shot blows them both to kingdom come.

Strength: Can easily break through tables, crater floors, and comparable to people who can easily dent steel, placing him at Wall Level
Speed: Able to analyze and assess situations in 0.1 seconds and dodge bullets, placing him at around Supersonic+
Abilities: Expert Martial Artist, Twilight Mode allows him to analyze situations in 0.1 seconds, Stealth Mastery, Photographic memory, Enhanced Senses, Weapon Mastery, etc.
Archer
Strength: Can easily break through wooden poles and the likes. Placing him at Street level. But can survive explosions strong enough to completely destroy yachts. Making him ~Small Building Level in terms of durability.
Speed: Has dodged bullets multiple times, can literally count bullets fired during combat. Making him Supersonic+
Abilities: Expert in Krav Maga, Skilled Gunman, Stealth Mastery, Resistance to Poison, and Sound (Thanks to his Tinnitus)
So who wins?
Well this is a pretty interesting matchup. Archer is clearly weaker than Loid, and was definitely not as skilled to compensate. While Archer is trained in Krav Maga, Loid is a certified martial arts expert with far more qualifications. Durability wise though, Archer blew Loud out of the water with his insane explosive feats.
Twilight Mode didn't actually give too much to Loid, as both he and Archer can process events at around the same speed.
However, Archer really doesn't have anything to take out Loid. He could really hit Loid and lacks any sort of surprising techniques, and isn't fast or strong enough to really make up for it.
Loid could likely analyze and find a weakness in Archer far quicker than Archer could, making it only a matter of time before he incapacitates the man. It doesn't help that Loid is STRONGER, Meaning when they got up close and personal, he held a major advantage.
Loid is just too strong, too smart, and too… not drunk for Archer to keep up, even with his superior durability.
Archer may’ve has the resilience to keep up, but against Loid’s strength, smarts, and clear mind, he was on a highway to the danger zone!
The winner is Loid
Does Lloyd also trounce Archer in 1vHorde fights?
And don´t forget Loid has a real reason to fight, being Anya and Yor
Okay I just started watching Archer a couple days ago, still in season 1
And man it is gonna be a beautiful humbling experience to see him fight Loid who's practically a super human
True plus Loid is a lot smarter and more competent then Archer while Archer isn't a complete idiot when it comes to fights he mainly wins due to his adaptability and improvising skills aka sheer dumb luck, whereas Loid on the other hand is a tactical genius who has mastered both anticipation and adaption meaning Loid can come up with a cunning plan beforehand and adapt to the situation if need be which he has done numerous times.

True! Most people only look at Yor (which tbf she’s insane for human standards), but Loid is able to somewhat keep up with her, and he can easily snap a table as well. Dude’s pretttyyyy strong!
Hate to belittle Loid but Archer has survived so much shit that would take even Loid out. Cobra bites, gunshots, radiation exposure. Kinda explains his flippant attitude really.

I would say that Archer probably would be the agitation in this case. Maybe messing with Kreiger's machine and ending up in the SXF uinverse and then getting into a fight with Loid
It honestly might be as simple as Archer being sent to investigate Anya for her secret psychic powers, and Loid's father instincts take over to immediately throw hands with the threat.

Technically that's correct, but the reason why it's called Twilight zone is because 1. Loid's code name is twilight, and 2. Archer is obsessed with the top gun song: danger zone. Hence the track name, twilight zone.

Didn't watch Spy Family pass Ep 3, so I don't know what Loid can do, but Archer is one of my favorite shows of all time. But post Coma seasons Archer is past his prime and is a little frail. Archer in his peak has done some wild shit and has survived nearly impossible stuff.
Also before anyone comments no I'm not gonna continue watching Spy Family. It didn't resonate with me.
Some Spy x Family feats that Loid should scale to:
-Yor was able to kick a car away, while said car was going top speed.
-Yor sent a tennis ball into the stratosphere.
-Both Yor & Loid are able to dodge gunfire & have a few gadgets (in Loid's case).

@chongwillson972 He doesn't take durability and strength simply based off Loids battles with a Drunken not holding back Yor. Who was able to stop a bull mid charge and throw a dodge ball so hard it superheated the ball and left a smoldering crater in the ground. Just fighting her puts him in a complete other league in terms of physical. As for the Laser, that's not in his standard equipment, so he wouldn't have it in a fight and thus is null.

archer survived being at the epicenter of massive explosion that complexly destroyed a yacht and survived a massive avalanche.
archer still beats loid out the water when his weaponry, and I doubt death battle would not give him his laser weapon.
@chongwillson972 He was protected at the Epicenter. He didn't take the bomb to the face and survive. Not to mention he had died several times in his own series from things like bullets.
His weapons aren't that much of an advantage. And no, he shouldn't get his laser weapons. He had only used them a handful of times in his entire series, and each time, he had a special circumstance to it. Death Battle would not give him something special like that when he doesn't have access to it all the time.
Loid is far smarter, a quicker thinker, and has better physical showings in hand to hand. Archer is out of his depth. Having a few more weapons does not mean anything, and we have seen bullets kill him before.

I have a Boomstick joke: “Well, now we know! Gunman beats Archer! W-Wait is this just John Wick vs James Bond again?”
I think Loid’s better MU is against Agent 47 since they both use disguises that really shouldn’t work like they do, and the two of them are both superhuman in their abilities.
And let’s not forget the obvious, Loid has a fake family that he works hard to protect, while 47 has nobody (aside from Diana really, unless you count the people who are either dead or otherwise unreachable) and tries his best to protect her and open up himself.
47 was also experimented on, so that could be a joke with Loid’s continual dealing with government experiments.
Though Archer isn’t a bad MU, another good one I saw in the comments is Spy from TF2, though in his case it’s really just the disguises, and I guess being a part of a continual endless war between to sides. Spy dealing with the Mann brother’s gravel war, and Loid’s operation concerning both Westalis and Ostania.

Honestly surprised that Loid gets a matchup before Yor, especially given her one matchup is way more popular than any of Loid's. Not complaining tho, Spy X Family is pretty cool and deserves recognition either way.
As for the song itself, it's a pretty standard (by Brandon Yates standards) jazzy song fitting of spy parodies/comedies that those two series are. It's very funky and energetic but it also keeps a grounded and calm feel fitting of characters supposed to be spies. I don't really have too much to say on the song due to the fact that, while far from bad, it isn't really to my tastes but I still quite like how it presents itself in general.
It perfectly captures that crossover feeling that not many tracks have where it actually feels like a song you could hear in an official crossing over event between both franchises. It doesn't take directly from either franchise (at least not that I can recognize) but it distinctly feels fitting of them both while sounding unique too which quite appreciable for sure.
I also quite like the fact that the song doesn't switch from its funky and comical nature throughout its duration like you'd expect from a VS song but instead it just intensifies the jazzy feeling which results in the song definitely having more scale but keeping that some atmosphere, something that may put some people off because no climactic ending but I think it fits here as those two are characters that, while very competent and strong, are supposed to not be superhuman so having the song finish with an absolutely grandiose and epic finale wouldn't feel too fitting, making this progression and finish more than acceptable.
Overall this track is a pretty standard Brandon Yates track as I've said before: really catchy, fitting and stands out all the while being genuinely enjoyable as a whole. It's not the song of the year, true that, but as I've said in other reviews it doesn't need to be legendary to be a solid and enjoyable song, which it most definitely is. Amazing job with this as always.
If I can critique your critiques lately, I think you've fallen into leaning on the phrase "Standard Brandon Yates Track" quite a bit. I'd challenge you to think of other ways to phrase this, or to try and find more specific things you enjoy or dislike about the song you're on at the moment. It's good to compare the songs to my other works (who better to compare me to than myself, right?) but it could also provide value to try and think of each song as if it were someone's first introduction to my music, and how this might shape their perspective on me as an artist.
Not that there's anything wrong with how you've been doing these! Still love reading over them as one of the few people who consistently comments about the music itself. Just felt like you might be interested in improving at this hobby of yours as well, right?

Yes you're correct, I've just been having a rough time lately IRL so my mind hasn't been too much on the reviews even if I still like doing them. Even I've noted when writing the ones I've done today that they were lesser than what I've done in the past. My apologies for this.
