THIS WAS MY FAVORITE UNSOLVED MYSTERIES EPISODE EVER!!!!! I STILL remember being so creeped out at that guy's deranged whisper (I was a little kid and used to watch this show late at night and I also had a friend named Omar, as it turned out, haha). This one, and also the tale of Michaela Gaerecht (snatched as she went to grab her bike) stuck with me for a LONG time. Many, many years later I was thinking about it and started googling it which ended up leading to me finding the UA-cam channel that has most of the UM episodes and I spent the past several years going through them and going down other true crime/mystery rabbit holes. Now I get stuff like this in my feed. What does it say about me that I immediately recognized the thumbnail, haha.

This popped into my head because I saw the show back in the day too. I went to see if I could find it on UA-cam and I typed "look at it burn Omar" and it came right up.
Ryan: let me tell u about this really gruesome crime Shane: you wanna hear about this funny guy who wore leather The duality of this show it truly amazing 😂

When I was a kid we used to set a big field of cattails on fire every season because the seeds spread everywhere and make you sneeze. They’re super flammable and it was in a swampy area so the fire never spread and we always kept a close eye on it. It was a special treat to use A DIY PROPANE FLAME THROWER on a big field as a 9 year old. But anyway we lived way out in the county and the fire department was always called. They would show up and be like “what’s going on here?’ And I would immediately be like “IM BURNING STUFF” in my sparkly kitten t shirt,, while my dad explain what we we’re doing LMAO

@@samuraisharkie that's an incredibly out of line comment to make about a POC man, doing a bit for a comedy video. Reflect on why you thought that was an appropriate conclusion to come to, and why you thought that was okay to say
THE thumbnail of all time thank you boys 🔥🔥🔥
My boy literally was the Joker.
“It’s not abt money, it’s abt sending a message”.
And then boom, house on fire.
i wanna give props to the person doing the editing for the thumbnail 😭 this whole video is delightful
Ngl, the second they played the tape, the first thing that came to my mind was "this sounds like Shane doing a skit"
the editing is SO good i'm crying 😭 Eughh.. chirp? yaak! 25:09
this is literally the only time i sat through a whole ad. please keep your saxona
this has always been one of my favourite mysteries bc everything involved is so strange
Same. Heard so little about it but it's very interesting.
Mostly because the dude sounds like a huge edgelord and kinda makes it a bit funny
Search up John hannon redwood city and you'll learn like way more , like his issues with his father , yearbook photos , and shit if you look it up it even says he's been dead for 7 years and that his mom's been dead since 84 could explain the beef he had with his dad and his declining mental health
this has the best in-video sponsor ad I’ve seen on UA-cam lol. It’s watchable and I love it
Missed you guy's so much, i didn't know you had a new channel! Much love from Georgia 🇬🇪 ❤!!
Shane supporting arson is such a vibe
Edible kicking in just as Ryan's sax ad started was amazing timing.
You’ve really unlocked the secret to getting us to watch the ads.
raw sex appeal
Or...sax appeal
@@BlackRainbow84 omg lol perfect
@@BlackRainbow84🎷
there was a case at my college that was on unsolved mysteries and still isn't solved to this day
i love the reference to that one meme in the thumbnail
The thumbnail sums up this show pretty well
it sums up the channel as a whole lmao
The watcher sponsor adverts just keep getting better. 😂😂
Whoever is responsible for the tape and fire and the monolog sounds like a villain plotting revenge. What a supervillain!
This guy's a fucking loser don't call him a supervillain you're stroking his ego.
They sound like an edgelord lol
@@geordieghoulette7142 “this is my domain, my hell” 🤓
It sounded like a dumb edgy teenager who wanted to be a supervillain, which is pretty much what it was.
Wow. I read this comment as making fun of the guy and I agreed. But all the responses took it so seriously lol
Like, the idea of a monologuing "supervillain" is 100% laughable
As someone who was born and raised in Redwood City, this was insane to hear it talked about in any capacity, let alone arson LOL
Y’alls ads for the sponsors are top tier. It actually makes me want to look into the companies.
The guy who said he "thought about the tape when he went to bed at night" was definitely one of the people who fainted in the theater watching The Exorcist
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Right? I was side eyeing Ryan when he called the video disturbing. If I thought of that video before bed, it would be '*snort* What an loser.'
i never want yall to stop, i dont care if youre both in your eighties, WE NEED MORE MYSTERY FILES
I just want to take a moment to thank whoever's idea it was to put the sensitive topics in the description, and not just unaliving or murder but even more specific triggers like animal cruelty or satanic cults. Thats like exactly some of my triggers but ryan and shane are so funny and ive been watching them forever. I would really miss it if i had to completely stop watching just because of my stupid mental illness. (If i might suggest adding this to the ghost investigations too 👀) but whoever thought to do this. THANK YOU I GEEV YOU BEEG SMOOCH
you're allowed to say death here, no need to put "unaliving"
"unaliving" tiktok user spotted
@@zoerice4227so?
Not trying to be rude but what about satanic cults is a trigger to you? That’s like if I said black Jesus traumatizes me
some people have suffered abuse related to satanic rituals or unrelated cults with similar vibes. Some people might also have Christian-based religious trauma from their upbringing that could be triggered tangentally@@Chanel98baby
While setting the little house on fire Shane gave the vibe on a dad letting his son (Ryan) light the fire pit for the first time
unironically unequivocally that was the best nord vpn ad i have ever seen in my life
the grass fire joke was too good, I knew there was a reason I liked Ryan
BTW, did you hear they found Michaela's murderer a couple of years ago?
it says you belong in this fanbase
Yesssss I immediately recognized it in the thumbnail & it was my favorite UM too!!!
@@smm855 I did!!!! It was insane how they found it. I feel so bad for her mom, but I hope she has some peace now.
They found Jacob Wetterling's murderer several years ago too (not an UM case, but my husband is from that area so I am fairly familiar with the case).
This popped into my head because I saw the show back in the day too. I went to see if I could find it on UA-cam and I typed "look at it burn Omar" and it came right up.
Ryan on the thumbnail is giving the meme of the little girl smiling while the house burns in a fire 💀
Pretty sure that was intentional
I bet that's the dude's daughter.😂
Best ep yet! Feels like your finally getting back into your groove
this is literally the best ad you've done, I actually watched the whole thing a few times cause it was so funny
this is such a comfort series, thank you guys!! ❤
Ryan: let me tell u about this really gruesome crime
Shane: you wanna hear about this funny guy who wore leather
The duality of this show it truly amazing 😂
You did it. You cracked the code. You got me to watch the ad w/o skipping
the scrapbook of newspaper clippings was just his resume guys!!
That dove in the Ryan ad was the perfect touch. I laughed way too hard at Ryan’s dog pic and the way he says, I think this one’s fine. 😂😂😂
the dove sent me over the edge!
the way i immediately bursted out laughing when ryan inserted the stag tape. never change, ryan
i cannot believe i watched the entire nord vpn ad because of ryan's beautiful sax playing. i was dying😭😭
That's a U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command shoulder sleeve insignia patch.
I was scrolling to see if anyone else mentioned the INSCOM patch.
i'm not smart enough to know if it's more likely they're involved, or if the patch/jacket is misdirection trying to draw suspicion away from true culprit?
I wonder if the fact that it was roughly sewn means that it was a homemade costume.
Could be relevant, or maybe a jacket bought from a surplus store. Good catch though
Yeah I was thinking “matches no known patch”? INSCOM has been around since ‘77 but I don’t think it’s ever been very famous lol
as a Vinny, "This one's for you Vinny" caught me WAY the fuck off guard
That NordVPN was amazing. I applaud whoever is coming up with them.
This was the first time I haven’t fast forwarded through an ad. So good.
Why did this feel like Ryan’s excuse to set fire to little houses and growl, “How did it feel?? HoW dID IT fEeL?? HOw Did iT FeeL?” 😅
Also, sax Ryan with the crazy hair is deserving of a Shane extra long chef’s kiss 😘
The tape always cracked me up too. Like it was just someone with a weird sense of humor just being goofy. It definitely sounds goofy.
