Extremely useful video... I've got a 2005 VW Polo too and this video has given me a lot of confidence before undertaking the job. One addition I'd make would be to use this opportunity to add some sound deadening material/foam in the recess behind the speaker and on the door between the panels. You won't regret it.
The foam layer helps to deaden external sounds/noises to allow for a quieter interiors. That in turn allows for clearer sound at lower sound volumes. Ideally, it should be all around you... but, you do the best you can. It may also stop some types of rattling too!
The speaker adapters that Amazon say are for a 9N3 front and rear 17cm look like are only about half or 3/4 the depth of these. Getting the car tomorrow, I don't want to get the door card off and find those are maybe an inch too shallow compared to the original, and the ones that you purchased, so might send them back now (2 x sets!) Thanks for this vid, must have watched it 10 times in prep already, and will again as I fit them!
I have replaced the speakers with the help of this video and another due to the difference of the driver and passenger doors. I installed 16,5cm speakers but they do not fit out of the box since they are slightly larger than the original ones. On the inside of the door card where the speaker would sit there is some plastic sticking out, not sure what it is intended for but I had to cut it away with a multi-tool. After that the door card was able to close.
One issue though... this video is only for the passenger side... the driver side is substantially different when taking the door handle/cables/etc off. Rest I assume it's the same. Would've helped even more to have a video for both sides.
Just thinking about doing this on my 07 golf. What power were the original speakers? And how much more powerful can you upgrade to before you need an amp? Cheers (my radio is a factory RMT300)
Hi there, do you have experience in changing the tweeters on a Polo 2007? I have taken the Pillar trim off but the tweeters look moulded on to the pillar? Many thanks
Yes, I would also like to see that - every video I found was about replacing speaker, but how about adding wires that weren't there in the first place?
Great video?i’m going to be doing just that soon to my Daughters 2009 polo, she is using Edge speakers,so any idea what fitting kit she will need?also I’ll be fitting 2 speakers to the rear doors, any idea if there are any speakers in the rear doors, have you done a video on Vw Polo rear door speakers, If there aren’t any rear door speakers, then I have a problem
Hi I if I’ve asked you this previously I’m sorry, but my daughter has a 2009 5 door polo, have you changed back door speakers? If so is that fitting kit suitable for the rear speakers and also if there aren’t any rear speakers is there likely to be any speaker wire ,like on harness or would I need to feed some speaker wire to back door
Do you leave the original tweeter in the A pillar connected? I've read they contain the capacitor that acts as a crossover, and remove them will prevent the door speaker working
@@PJsprojects Thats why I asked, the pioneers you replaced with have tweeters in, do you just leave the A pillar ones connected also? Just replacing the door speakers and leaving everything else untouched?
what is the size of those speakers? and the rear ones ? I have a Polo 9N two door, ever replaced those rear ones as well? your input is highly appreciated

Thanks a lot for this video, will save me a lot of time when upgrading my door speakers. I also have a 2004 VW polo.

do you have a link to the other video you used to help you?
Thankyou soooo much for this video
I've found that the factory speakers are powerful enough to send all the mirrors vibrating like crazy in the first place anyway
Only problem is they get distorted at higher volumes
One issue though... this video is only for the passenger side... the driver side is substantially different when taking the door handle/cables/etc off. Rest I assume it's the same. Would've helped even more to have a video for both sides.
I also have a bigger problem with my polo, what should I ask for in the auto parts ?!

Hi, your videos are really insightful! Do you have one of a stereo removal and refitting of a MK4 Polo?
Great video, would you be able to do one for a mark 5 polo?

Yea they heat glued in, they will need cutting out and then new ones heat glued back in.
@@PJsprojects thanks for such a swift reply!

Yes, I would also like to see that - every video I found was about replacing speaker, but how about adding wires that weren't there in the first place?

But if you put only the speakers without support it s ok? It will fit?
Yep fine.
Grazie !!!

I removed my speakers now the door doesnt open from inside
My speakers came with a mounting kit would you suggest getting different ones
Sorry for the stupid question but will this method apply to a 2006 polo ?
Yep.

You can do but most aftermarket speakers are two or three way and so have tweeters built in.

Does the mounting ring and the adapter come with the speakers?
Do you have a tutorial on 2010 model?
@@Unknown-ix2jx Afraid not.
Hello what size of speakers i need? Thank you in advance
the speakers dont actually look terrible for stock speakers.
are these stock speakers 17 cm diameter?
I think they’re 16.5cm
This side seems simple enough, what about the Drivers side, different door panel?? How do you get the handle off??
Pretty much the same principle
what is the size of those speakers? and the rear ones ? I have a Polo 9N two door, ever replaced those rear ones as well? your input is highly appreciated
I have an 03 9n and there is no speakers in rear doors at all
falconpunchTV buy spacers online and add speakers it’s simple
