Hi Charlie....I really like this look, I haven't tried it yet but soon hopefully. I would of said more than what the heck when those bugs flew onto your dresser...I hope the client was happy. Take care....cheers !!!
Hey Martine! Yes please try it out I hope it works out for you ☺️ hahaha I’m so used to random bugs and debris landing in my paint especially in the summertime. I’ll get these huuuge moths flying around in the shop luckily they’ve never landed on my piece but they scare the crap out of me because they fly around all crazy and unpredictably 😅 I have to play defense for like the first twenty minutes against random bs lol!!
Honestly not if I can help it 😂 if it was a really flat and square piece with no trim maybe, but the trim jutting out made it hard for me to get the strokes perfect since I can’t start or end from off the piece. But that’s just any faux wood in general. I thought the application was smoother with stain rather than the saman glaze I used, but the rustoleum premixed glaze I’ve used before performed just as well as oil, and way easier clean up. All in all I think I’d recommend the rustoleum one if you’re doing faux wood in general. (It’s premixed though so can’t adjust the colour too much and I haven’t seen a rustoleum clear glaze on the shelves yet) Sorry for the long reply, I just had a lot of thoughts 😂😂
@@hollysgarage that’s what I thought. 😉 I often use Rustoleum’s Transformation glaze to do that faux wood finish. It’s such a forgiving finish, isn’t it?
You’re lucky that you have a choice with rustoleum, here in Australia, they only have a charcoal colour and that’s the extent of it! No gel stain either.

I understand why you used the stain in this project, but would you use stain again for this technique in the future?

@@tableflippinghousewife yeah it’s great! I just wish I could change the colour if I wanted to without compromising the texture of it 😅
