Labour Weekend 2024, Heading North Again | Whitewater Kayaking New Zealand

Yet another thrilling trip up north to the central north island. Similar to previous years we started with Aniwhenua and Kawerau, hitting up the G2 and slalom courses. These are great teaching grounds and great practice for what comes next. From Kawerau we head to Kaituna. Its always awesome showing people down the Kaituna for the first time and the down river freestyle laps hard to beat. After Kaituna we head to Huka Falls. Its at the right flows and everyone knows. The crowds of kayakers flock to the 60cumec world class waterfall to get their laps in. I manage to jump on with the Okere Falls crew and get two epic laps before leaving for Tawhai. We huck the beginners off Tawhai and get a few free-fall practise laps before calling it a weekend and heading home to Wellington.
