Aah, thank you so much! This really helped me with my karate class. Trying to learn this in class had me fumbling around. Being able to watch a video for as much time as necessary and as many times as I want really helps. So, thank you so much! I really, really appreciate it!

+1800JCful Thanks it is hard to believe how long ago that was.... It was a bot rough but the main point was to just show the pattern as we do it.... But again in Shorinryu Matsubiyashi Ryu and how Shoshin Nagamine created the kata, you step in on the 1st move. My Grandmaster in his wisdom changed it to stepping away as white belts have not learned how to block and defend properly so it is un-wise to teach them how to step into an attack.... I have other videos as well mainly just advice videos listed under me Nathan Chlumsky

I love when someone who is a white belt makes a critique +3percentmilk. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and feel it necessary to correct those that do. My 10 years of training Matsumura Seito gives me plenty of insight to say that you need to learn the essence of real karate, that is shut your mouth and train. As for the performance, are there flaws? Always. But this gentlemens Sensei is the one to correct them not a mukyu without an idea in the world of what he is talking about. And the students shown are doing wonderfully and I'm sure that their Sensei is hard at work to make them stronger karate-ka.

Stepped with the wrong foot on the opening, and the form is generally sloppy. Granted, I'm a white belt, but all that means is that I should be in awe of the technique, which I'm not.

There are enough subtle variations abroad in the execution of this kata as well as others to foster endless debate. Karate, unfortunately, is like religion for some. Each believes theirs is the true way. True, there a basic principles and concepts in movement, but themes and variations as well. Without taking the time to learn why something appears to different one's constructive criticism should be carefully chosen. What else is required in these pages is a modicum of respect. Intolerance is NOT the way. This is not a commentary pertinent to the discussion herein, but a general observation of what I tend to see in UA-cam comments. Declaring that something 'sucks' is not the way any self-respecting martial artist should be talking about anyone's style or performance. Just say'in....With respect...ZZDoc

Thanks everyone. Hard to believe how long ago I posted this video. Now it is almost 2016 and I am a 4th Degree and inductee into the Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Honors. I was supposed to test for my 5th but I had joint replacement surgery of my shoulder and so am having to wait. As I mentioned several years ago, when Shoshin Nagamine created the kata yes he stepped into the attack. I was taught that way too. But my Grandmaster in his wisdom decided to change it, because it is a 10th Kyu white belt kata. White belts are just learning and have yet to develop the skills they need to be able to step into an attack without getting hurt, i.e. blocking and reflex and the 5 basics as a whole (pattern, technique, timing, speed and power) so he felt that it is much better for a beginning student to thus STEP AWAY and therefore for my system "Okinawan Shorinryu Matsumura Seito Wakidokai" it is correct, but yes as Nagamine Sensei created it stepping forward is the correct way.... And I know it's late but Zionist World Order yes Israeli. My Grandmaster was the 20th person in the U.S. certified to teach the Israeli Haganah F.I.G.H.T. System under its founder, Mike Lee Kanarak and we then intrigrated the fighting strategies into our system of Matsumura Seito hence the "Wakidokai" part meaning "Warren's Powerful Way Society". It also distinguishes that while we are authentic Shorinryu Matsumura Seito in every way i.e. kata, weapons, etc., our fighting techniques/strategies are enhanced because of the Israeli Haganah.

Weak stance! Sloppy blocks! I could twist you by your Karategi shoulders and you would fall! Your low blocks will only slightly soften the impact of a kick. High punches too high too high for power and wrist health. Work the Kihon more.
