Actually, under any definition, a phobia is an irrational fear. Being afraid of gaining weight is very rational. A 37 year old woman who had a TV show that promoted body positivity just died from heart problems. She promoted health at any size. I guess her heart was fatphobic.
It's not just the amount. I have a personal theory that corn syrup, in particular, is the root cause of much of the obesity epidemic; it's in absolutely everything. Additionally, the cancer rate in the U.S. when compared to other similarly developed nations tells me that there's literally something in the water. Specifically, industrial waste (flouride) and chlorine; neither of which need to be there, and are objectively harmful to consume. Chlorine in particular gets absorbed through your skin - you don't even have to drink water with chlorine in it (e.g. municipal water mains) to have it affect you, as it's as simple as taking a shower. And that's just the beginning. When the water and food are largely effectively poisonous, it's no wonder these sorts of things exist and so many people are literally brain-damaged enough to buy into them wholesale. And they *are* brain-damaged; there have been experiments done about this. That's unironically what they found - Leftists are literally brain damaged.
Remember all the obese POWs after every war? Apparently starvation mode kicked in and they were unable to lose weight even if the Vietcong just fed them some bugs and a little rice. Set point I guess.
Exactly! How am I having a panic fear of fat people (i.e. of someone who tends to be out of breath just standing)? If they try to chase me, I can outrun them no problem!
- I don't smoke, because I don't want to get lung cancer - ok, cigarrophobic - Cigarrophobic? I just want to low the possibilities of getting cancer - You don't like to smoke? - That's right - That's literally cigarrophobic
I like to ask smokers if they'd breathe the smoke of their house burning down to calm themselves in the event of their house burning down They say "no" a LOT
@@millo7295 There is a problem with that question. The smoke produced in that situation doesn't have nicotina, the drug they are addicted to and the thing that makes them feel calm.
For real. A "phobia" isn't merely disliking something-- it has to be an IRRATIONAL fear of something, which means you believe something that isn't rooted in fact and are willing to go to extreme lengths to avoid it. People who are truly arachnophobic don't just simply run away from spiders-- they have full blown panic attacks, they begin hyperventilating and having cardiac arrhythmia, and even pass out. People who are truly claustrophobic don't just dislike being in closed spaces-- they'll have the same reactions as someone who's arachnophobic plus they'll do things like break their fingers or their toes trying to literally claw their way out of a tight space even when there's no identifiable danger of being there. Someone who is truly fatphobic doesn't just want to not gain weight-- they'll do extreme shit like fast for prolonged periods of time while engaging in strenuous and dangerous workouts, they'll refuse to go out with their friends or family because they're going to "unhealthy" restaurants, or they'll constantly believe they are fat no matter how good of shape their in. Jessamyn Stanley (i.e. a fetish OF model masquerading as a civil rights activist) doesn't know what she's talking about and is-- ironically enough-- creating phobias in her own viewers with her rhetoric. Specifically, creating the phobia that anyone who sits you down to talk with you about your weight is somehow a racist, sexist, homophobic, bigoted evildoer that you should cut out of your life at all costs as well as spend your every waking hour demonizing on every platform possible.
so is fear of heights, or of fire, or etc. It is a completely rational expectation that you could lose your footing on a cliff, or get trapped in a burning building, and both of those are some of the most common phobias around
@@bagaboiebailey You do not fear the heights you fear to fall FROM the heigh spot. Acrophobia is the fear of the heigh - you fear everything that's too height (subjective for each person tollerance) Pirophobia is the fear of fire - you fear the fire itself NOT the conseguences of the fire, the fear is for everything that a fire is into like when you use it for cooking, for lit cigar or a candle. Do not mistake the common sense fear and the irrational fear
Literally. All these "phobias" are by definition, not phobias. I've had plenty of people just dodge that and say "well, ___phobia means something completely different" So why the hell is it called a phobia, then? Idiots.
Me too! When I got up to 205lbs (5'9" M) I felt terrible and was in bad health. I could barely stay awake after lunch at work....that's how bad it was. I can't even imagine weighing 250 or 300. It took some work and starting an exercise routine and eating clean but I got down to 175 back in 2010 and that's what I still weigh today. I feel great at 59 years old.
Me too. I wasn't obese, But I was fat. And a month ago, I decided to go to the gym. I refuse to be fat again. I want to be healthy and strong. Good luck with your workouts everyone!
I think the worst part is the fact they actively discourage weight-conscious people from working out. What if I'm skinny and want to get jacked? What form of authority do you have to tell me I'm not allowed to be ambitious and work towards a goal?
These clowns have never had any ambition exercise related or otherwise a day in their life. Even if they did, it's evident they turned away from it pretty quickly. Be proud of your efforts, avoid hubris, but keep chasing strength, spread wisdom and any other worthy goal you chase in life. I hope you have a full life my friend.
"I'm going to pick up an extra shift to make extra money." "So you're poorphobic, you have something against poor people?" "What? No, I just want to save up some extra mon-" "That's deeply rooted in classism." The logic of these people 💀
It's funny people use that logic when they are constantly trying to find ways to not be poor anymore. Anyone who's been poor knows that it sucks and is not an enviable position.
The “fat liberation” community in a nutshell: I am going to allow gluttony and laziness to destroy my health and then I’m going to shame the world for not accommodating me or finding me attractive. Actually, this is a good response to anybody who accuses you of being fat-phobic.

You are only really helping their cause with this, and while it's not my intention to patronize, wishing death upon a stranger isn't normal. I would much rather that we all encourage each other to be better than we were, instead of constantly putting each other down, whether them for us being fit, or us for them being fat.
It's like a delusional level of envy, laziness, and entitlement. "I'm going to pretend being overweight is fine when I know better but I'm too lazy to do the work so instead I'll make myself the victim and subscribe to the obvious delusion that big is beautiful and healthy". That's basically it.
let's be real here. the truth isn't that they just don't want to be bullied for being fat. it's that they don't want others to be thin or healthy because it makes them feel bad.
@@evanremillard5640 That’s exactly it. All boils to individual choice and responsibility for that decision. The latter is what society is so desperately missing these days.
I became fatphobic back in June. Wan to know the terrible things that have happened to me since them? - I lost 30 pounds - I'm not afraid of shaving my beard that used to hide my double chin - I've gotten compliments form guys and girls at my gym and in my friend circle - I've fallen back in love with basketball, now that I can play longer without gasping for air after a few minutes Be careful everyone, look at all the terrible things that fatphobia has done to me as a warning.
The progression: " We should not be bullied for being fat" "Accept fat is every bit as good and healthy as thin" "Date us fat people, you must be attracted to us" " If you so much as exercise once, you hate fat people. You must become fat, or you are fatphobic"
Cultists don't have self-awareness. They are exactly the definition of NPC. Fanatism is one thing corporations love to exploit. A person who fiercely protects the corporation's interests without question and spends money in their products.
The opening skit is pretty revealing. The correct response isn't "i don't want to be fatphobic". It's "if that's fatphobic then i'm going to wear that label as a badge of honor".
They made an obvious equivocation between fat and fat people. When they accuse people of fatphobia, it’s accusing them of hating people who are fat, not accusing them of being afraid of gaining fat.
I was 27 years old when I first stepped into a gym after having surgery and realizing I was gaining weight. I am now 55. Fat phobia has served me well. I have no intentions of changing my views and there's nothing to talk about.
Fun Fact: The increasing rate of obesity in the western world contributes to the rising cost of health insurance thereby making it less affordable for people who desperately need it. So in a way, choosing to remain fat is not only hurting them, but others as well. Or more bluntly put, their choices are KILLING others. Yet, they have the audacity to cry about things like this. So I say let ‘em squeal and whine because, in my heart of hearts, they deserve worse.
Yeah basically, their entire community consists with insecure fat people with sensitive egos that believes that they are the main character and everyone has to listen to them. And this can be applied to so many social justice groups too, it's a pattern of this exact same behavior and manipulative tactics being in social justice groups and movements and it needs to be called out
I never got made fun of when I was over weight. Never. Eventually had enough of being unhealthy. I started working out, eating healthy, quit drinking, got in great shape. Then the women at my work started with constant comments. I got called anorexic, too skinny, asked if I had an eating disorder, uptight, unhealthy. I got asked if I was anorexic while eating cheese, carrots, three eggs and a whole avocado at lunch. Six years later I’ve still kept all the weight off and feel great (:
I've achieved the same thing by doing intermittent fasting and eating more healthily. And boy does it feel good to no longer be a slave to food and to feel so much lighter, doesn't it! 👌👍💪
This happened at my husband's office. As of today he's lost 115lbs and kept it off for 3 years now. It was the other men that made comments. "You're making us look bad!" And "You're wasting away to nothing!" Ridiculous. Congratulations to you. Keep it up. I'm down 65 lb myself still working everyday.
The whole fatphobia movement has been the biggest motivation for me to work out more 😂 I swear the movement is secretly designed by gyms to get people to work out more. I couldn’t care less about being labeled as fatphobic. My body, my choice. Being called fatphobic is literally a badge of honour

Honestly this is sorta a point I disagree on I think phobia is just a word now used for fear/hate not just fear and it's like a new meaning to it. It's called slave morality, a term coined by Nietzsche. They look at health, strength, responsibilty, authority, power (everything that's hard to do/obtain), turn it upside down and apply the "real virtue" to the opposite. Which then in turn makes "Master Morality" unvirtuous, so everyone who is not miserable like them. So they point fingers, and blame and try to make themselves feel better by convincint themselves and others that in fact they are virtuoos and the other are not. Actually, the other oppress them. Nowadays we'd call it victim complex I guess
It is part of the West's victim culture. Everyone who is not a straight, White, thin, Christian male gets to be oppressed in some way and not take any accountability for their actions.
If anything, "fatphobic" should be attributed to the far opposite side of the spectrum where people are straight up anorexic or overworking themselves to be fit, and not just wanting to be healthy.
I had arachnophobia most of my life. I would wake up from nightmares of spiders crawling up my bed, and not be able to go back to sleep. Turns out, exposure therapy is what I needed. These people pushing this idea are lazy and dangerous and we need to push back against it.
Right! isn't a fat person problem this is more of certain people who are lazy to better themself. A lazy person will start making excuses to stop them from doing what they want and this is what some people are latching onto to tell themselfs they don't need to lose weight/ I don't like gaining weight becaues i physically start feeling worse. I am a 6'2 early 20's male. In June I stepped on a scale and weighed in at 344lbs. 11lbs shy of my largest ever known weight. I read this article about the hardness of life. "Being skinny is hard. Being overweight is hard. Choose your hard." I also went to a young adult event where I realized just how unhealthy/out of shape I was. I have since lost ovee 60 lbs and am now sitting at 280. The kicker? I only changed my diet and eating habits. No exercise. I've never been apart of the fat acceptance cult, and never will be. I've taken care of too many elderly people, and noticed a trend. Big people don't live as long, across the board. Your body isn't made to handle all the extra weight.
I'm not fatphobic, I just don't want to be a 500lbs meat lump that dies a miserable death at age of 30. I was halfway there to 500lbs and oh boy, it was not pleasant. Not at all...
I use to be fat and worked hard for the body I have. These people who say fatphobic are just truly lazy and do not want to better themselves. If you were to ask them if they could lose 50 lbs in an instant they would say yes, but if it was to be burned off over time, they most likely will not and stay contempt.
Fr, I like watchin ppl like dis doe cuz it gives me motivation to keep goin an gettin better, built discipline, self control, an self accountability, gives ya a decent reason to say you’re physically an mentally better than these ppl, I’m not perfect ofc, but my god I can hold myself accountable to my own actions an change ya know? Mentally weak ppl piss me off for some reason
I don't care if some fatty call me phobic for some reasons because they don't run fast enough to catch me. The thing I'm afraid of is if they sit down on me and take me as a prisoner.
"I don't mean to be fatphobic" Well actually. Yes I do. As someone who is currently fat and trying to lose weight, you *should* be fatphobic. Doesn't mean you need to hate fat people, but definitely hate the idea of being fat because it sucks. And anyone who tells you otherwise is living in denial and projecting their insecurities by trying to get you off your game and progress. Kings 👑 and Queens 👑 , don't pay attention to people like them. Keep doing what you're doing.
That's the spirit! If I can give you a Tip: try intermittent fasting. It's been the only thing that worked for me. I've lost almost 40 pounds, plus it's incredibly healthy as it promotes autophagy and protects your body from cancer. Check out Dr. Eric Berg DC UA-cam Channel. That guy is the sole reason why I managed to lose about 20 kg. Intermittent fasting is really the healthiest thing you can do for yourself. Guaranteed weight loss is only one of MANY benefits. 👌💪💪

A phobia has to be an irrational fear. Otherwise you are just afraid. Being afraid of getting fat isn’t irrational and there are plenty reasons why you wouldn’t want be be fat.
Agreed. That being said, being so adverse to being fat that you become anorexic is indeed a phobia, but that is not at all what these people are talking about.
There's a woman in tennessee who is facing a murder charge for allowing her teenage daughter to become so severely morbidly obese that her heart exploded at the age of 16.
I will never understand why many heavily overweight people pretend like they feel good in their bodies or say they are comfortable with it. As someone who used to be fat, I always felt insecure about my weight (& body shape) and imobility partially. Trust me, it isn't something to be proud of and it definitely shouldn't be whitewashed. After a year of hard work I am now in a decent physique and I never felt happier and especially healthier than now

I’m an athlete, and being fat is the antithesis to any warrior. It’s literally unhealthy, so each any everyone of these fools can go walk off one.
I agree, but I don't think it's necessarily hatred that's the cause. What they're claiming is that an ego boost is more important than the eventual suffering, impoverishment, and death of themselves and others. It's pure and simple selfishness to the point where reality itself, your own future self, and others are unimportant. A hedonistic zombie.
@@brave_skykorn It’s only fine if a person has given up, now content with how they look and where they’re at in life. That’s the path of least resistance. Perhaps one year from now, after you’re no longer overweight because you focused on those small goals, the larger one reveals itself and you’ll remember this comment.
One of the walls at my local gym says "We believe beauty doesn't come in as one size fits all, let's work together to become a better you" and around the cardio equipment there are signs that say "whether it's 5 minutes or 5 miles any amount of exercise is the best way to go". There's motivational stuff all over the gym because a positive attitude makes for a positive experience and a positive experience makes it more likely that people will return.

As a teenager I was fat because of the meds that I was taking back then that made me look bloated. I was teased about it everyday in school. But what actually used to confuse me was that there were girls that were fatter than me but nobody would say even a thing to them. I never complained about it though. Once I got off the meds, I started losing weight and in less than a year I lost 50 pounds and by the time I graduated I was skinny. Now that I look back, I'm glad that people used to make fun of me. It's because of them that I was able to lose all that weight. And about the fat girls in my class, well it's been 5 years since we graduated and they're still fat af.
If you are wondering what they are doing, they are probably still being annoying sjw and are having tons of health problems like shitty immune systems, joint pain, shortness of breath, inability to do activities for an extended period, etc. Glad you have taken the initiative to making your life better and your life will last longer than them.
I had the opposite experience growing up fat as a girl. People making fun of me when I was a younger didn’t inspire me to lose weight at all just made me more depressed and increased my social anxiety I’m still dealing with now. Self love and thinking about my future goals inspired me to lose weight.
Some of the gym stuff he says is quite wrong, and about gym goers wanting to be thin, some definetly do.....but theres a good number who dont wanna be thin and just wanna be strong. As for the machines, they shouldnt be avoided, they are a good way to isolate a specific muscle group

How anyone can enjoy the health problems that comes with being overweight, or the incredible uncomfort of having skin fold over itself, sweating profusely and so on, is beyond me. For me it's about health, comfort and self image.
They dont, they just want to be fat and pretend like its not unhealthy. I also am convinced that fat phobic speakers are super insecure people who either cant lose weight or dont want to and want everyone else to feel guilty for not being in the fat situation they are in. I say we encourage them! Go fat people keep eating, eat 3 pizzas a night!!! Then they can all go away due to heart failure. Thats really mean you might say? Well no because im supporting their delusions, clearly being fat is healthy and the heart failure wasnt due to being super unhealthy it was because the skinny people did it to them!
These people are just those who don't want to put in the effort but still receive the same amount of praise as those who actually work hard to stay healthy. Congratulations for having the increased risk of having a heart attack.
It really does suck. I have severe depression and I got really big from comfort eating. I was basically trying to kill myself slowly. I was, thankfully, nowhere near as obese as some of the “fat positive” people but it was still not comfortable but losing 60lbs has made a difference. Getting your health in order is effort they don’t want to put in because being fat gets them clicks and money. It’s, sadly, profitable to be unhealthy now. Mentally and physically.
I literally had this argument in class whereby people thought being fat was healthy it was honestly surreal that the amount of people haven't given a proper thought to this.
@@victorcode2075 Literally skinny people can be unhealthy too which is true but that doesn't justify a reason to be fat. They don't seem to favour health because if you really wanted to be healthy you'd try to eliminate every variable that would invoke a health problem. Also they weren't thinking temporally, they were saying fat people are "healthy" now in their 20's but later down the line it will get you in the end. I would say it's born from privilege that they don't understand they have, the privilege that we can treat the symptoms of obesity doesn't make it healthy because it doesn't treat the root cause. This is factually untrue. During middle age and renaissance, being curvy, or having a little weight was seen as a sign of health and good wealth. And being a little more than a little fat was seen as sign of great wealth (but not so great health, still, with that amount of money, one can afford a few physicians/doctors) But is was pre industrialization era. Food was harder to come by, and building weight was showing that one is wealthy enough to afford more than they need. In modern days, the issue with food is the opposite. Wealthier food is more expensive, and being fat is either an indication of lack of discipline, lack of knowledge, or that one can not afford anything but junk food.
@@TeteBruleeFR Yeah, shocking that about the rough time that people with power and influence didn't have to rely on their bodies anymore in order to be successful or victorious was about the time when being plump became a standard to be sought after, lol.

More importantly, "fat" people back then were nothing like the obese circles of modernity. You're comparing apples and oranges@@TeteBruleeFR
So much truth. My mother is in an independent living place and you can see what happens when its time to pay the piper for years of obesity and lack of exercise. I attended the senior yoga class and those women and men were thin and had been physically active most of their lives and were now enjoying their senior years. Those who were overweight were in the lobby, using walkers, scooters or wheelchairs, barely able to move, my mother among them. She asked me why she struggles so much with her knees and finds it impossible to walk without a walker. She is at least 50 pounds overweight. Anyone who doubts the affects should look around at a senior center and see who is walking and who isnt. Its an eye opener.
Before even watching this video I know that it will give me more motivation to keep going to the gym lmao. Love these "fatphobic" videos unironically, I used to be fat btw.

A fat person will climb mountains and sail the seven seas to avoid a treadmill and a stick of celery

Complete false equivalency…
It pays to remember that a phobia must be an IRRATIONAL fear. Not wanting to gain too much weight is not irrational.

"I don't mean to be fatphobic"
Well actually.

@@24wallachian Thanks for the tip! Right now i'm doing keto and working out as well, so i don't wanna overwhelm my body, but once out of keto i will definitely do intermittent fasting. (works well with my hefty schedule too)

After a year of hard work I am now in a decent physique and I never felt happier and especially healthier than now
Exactly. Back in June when I flew from a cousin's wedding, back home, I could barely attach the seatbelt on the plane. Last Sunday, when I attached the seatbelt and I enough slack to properly adjust it, I was grinning ear to ear for the entire flight.
my older brother was overweight in highschool and he even had to go the hospital because of it. a few years later in college and he's jacked. being strong physically is great, but being strong psychologically to quit your addictions is amazing. people like you and my older brother are people that the rest of us need to be like
Its just copium and making excuses so they don't have to take responsibility for their own terrible decisions.
Exactly. I grew up fat through childhood. As soon as I took more control in adulthood, I did better socially. Happier, more handsome more confident, stronger than ever. I’m an athlete, and being fat is the antithesis to any warrior.
It’s literally unhealthy, so each any everyone of these fools can go walk off one.
Copium is a hell of a drug.

@@freshbakedclips4659 wow thanks
I agree, but I don't think it's necessarily hatred that's the cause. What they're claiming is that an ego boost is more important than the eventual suffering, impoverishment, and death of themselves and others. It's pure and simple selfishness to the point where reality itself, your own future self, and others are unimportant. A hedonistic zombie.
@@nomoturtle1788 right. They are trying to do whatever they can to feel good about themselves without wanting to improve. Which is fine
@@brave_skykorn It’s only fine if a person has given up, now content with how they look and where they’re at in life. That’s the path of least resistance. Set small goals to achieve an even larger one. It’ll be a new year soon and a perfect opportunity to do so.

Im sure you look great .. glad you kept positive
Congratulations for having the increased risk of having a heart attack.
people deez nuts
It really does suck. I have severe depression and I got really big from comfort eating. I was basically trying to kill myself slowly. I was, thankfully, nowhere near as obese as some of the “fat positive” people but it was still not comfortable but losing 60lbs has made a difference. Getting your health in order is effort they don’t want to put in because being fat gets them clicks and money. It’s, sadly, profitable to be unhealthy now. Mentally and physically.
@@sassyghost_8 omg lmfao I didnt look at it that way yet. Using fat people for clickbait to earn money, that's definitely what those people are doing
I literally had this argument in class whereby people thought being fat was healthy it was honestly surreal that the amount of people haven't given a proper thought to this.
Lol what were there counter arguments?
@@victorcode2075 Literally skinny people can be unhealthy too which is true but that doesn't justify a reason to be fat. They don't seem to favour health because if you really wanted to be healthy you'd try to eliminate every variable that would invoke a health problem.
Also they weren't thinking temporally, they were saying fat people are "healthy" now in their 20's but later down the line it will get you in the end. I would say it's born from privilege that they don't understand they have, the privilege that we can treat the symptoms of obesity doesn't make it healthy because it doesn't treat the root cause.
It's unbelievably absurd.

For nearly 20,000 years people have wanted to be athletic, Sparta, Rome, the army, Olympia, etc so the fact that something called fatphobia is a bad thing Is something our ancestors would absolutely hate
This is factually untrue.
During middle age and renaissance, being curvy, or having a little weight was seen as a sign of health and good wealth. And being a little more than a little fat was seen as sign of great wealth (but not so great health, still, with that amount of money, one can afford a few physicians/doctors)
But is was pre industrialization era.
@@TeteBruleeFR I know shhhhhh
@@TeteBruleeFR Yeah, shocking that about the rough time that people with power and influence didn't have to rely on their bodies anymore in order to be successful or victorious was about the time when being plump became a standard to be sought after, lol.

You're factually wrong. The people who were idealized then were the fit ones, fat was seen as "good" because of wealth, the same way a tan was bad and now, at least in the west, tan is seen as good.
