Guilty of Treeson your kitchen is very comfortable and takes some time to heat up your food nice / only I do use foil to heat my food with on the manifold less time to run the engine, saves fuel in the truck and save the expense and wear and tear on the equipment ! This is becoming easily one of my favorite channels. I have been building mtb trails for years, but I’m just starting to get into felling and working with chainsaws. While I may not be seeking a career as an arborist, it is great learning many of the professional techniques and methods felling trees and working with chainsaws. Thanks for all the great content!

Darn it but you guys are good. I have been looking at your site for what seems like forever. Before migrating to Queensland, Australia from England some forty or so years ago. I was told that my first job would be as a timber getter. It did not materialize. The nearest I have got to and for of timber felling was to chop up firewood for the wife. Your program which I have followed since God knows when has given me the opportunity in my mind to be just that, a Timber Getter. Now at the age of 92 years, I have through your many programs been able to become a Timber Getter in my thoughts. I can only say thank you for allowing me to achieve the position I was first offered, and yes I have just watched you take down a fir tree. So from this old codger, I say thank you.
I have literally never done this on a UA-cam video, but I just felt the need to let you know how much I enjoy your channel (only recently discovered it) and how good you are at what you do. Always the exact tools you need for the job, your workers don't have to be told a thing (they always know what to do and they're good at doing it), always making safety the first priority. Just so professional and knowledgable. You're excellent at explaining things as well. I did this for a little while as a job in college, so I know a fair amount. But in these videos I often find myself saying, "oh, THAT'S why you do that.", in other words I know a lot of WHAT to do, just not WHY you do it. I just learned by watching and doing. Limited to bucket work and land clearing, though, you would never catch me climbing like that hahaha, you have balls of stone my friend.

Mental Sid, grab a chain and a bobcat, raise the bobcat bucket all the way against the tree tie the chain or rope as high as you can tie the other end of chain/rope to the bobcat make sure the bobcat won't get hit by the tree when it falls. Cut a wedge out of the tree and cut flat from the wedge to almost the other side and drive the bobcat backwards
Nice work! Couple things that may make things easier and safer. When chunking, try not to drop your saw to your hip each time. Start your next cut, dog in, push your round off then step down. This eliminates dropping your saw to your side. It’s faster and uses a lot less energy. To keep is safe, always have a saw on a lanyard. No one should be under a climber (moving/ picking up a firewood round) without the saw secured at all times. 🤙🏼
After watching you part out that fir, it reminded me of when I would get 8 cord tree length hardwood delivered to cut to stove length. I had a Homelite with an 18 inch bar and the work was slow. I decided to get a bigger saw. The dealer sold Jonsereds and Stihls. He showed me a few saws, and I explained that I wanted the saw to do all the work. This was 1979 I bought a Jonsered Model 70 and I had that saw for over 25 years. I can tell you with honesty, that saw would have outperformed your Stihl 88 2 to 1. It was a fast cutting saw. And in your video, it looked like whoever sharpens your chain, tended to sharpen unevenly, because the cuts were not straight across but tended to be thicker on 1 side than the other side. Great work.

Wow, so well done. I am getting an arborist to take down a lot of Oak tree limbs and tops. Hope he can do the same way with the Oak but those get very heavy. We had an ice storm in February that caused these big tree tops to break out and wipe out our deck and do damage to some of the roof. So I am getting ready to cut back on these big Oaks that range as high as 60-80 ft. Great video! Terry

Coming back to this video after taking my first top. Wow what great advice I should have remembered. My tree shook quite a bit and to be honest scared me a bit. Next time I'll leave some branches underneath and go a smidge higher

When I first started I did huge tops thinking it was better to not go higher. I found out that is definitely not the case with a cracked rib lol. Good advice on leaving dampening branches
I'm going to try leaving a few limbs to dampen the Shake but I always did leave stubs just stand on while topping if there were some in the right place it always made me feel more secure but considering that in the first ten years of climbing all I used was one Manila lanyard and a pair of Spurs when I Came to a limb I had to cut it off or bear hug unclip and reclip but I've since had my third testicle removed
here in Florida we have the same dash board cooking, only we just park facing the sun, no heater needed. 5mins. on dash and it's hotter than coming out of the oven.great for heating up meatball subs or left over BBQ ribs or burgers.
Love how you use the Akimbo in MRT/as a second lanyard while cutting! I do the same with my HH2. I'd love to come climb with ya'll some day, we dont have trees like you PNW guys get!
