  • Want to know what you are looking at? Go to www.scsn.org to access our 3 seperate feeds and their information, available to stream from youtube.
This is a real-time feed of data from the SCSN with 2 Seismograms feeds from seismic stations located in Southern California and a DAS feed from a fiber optic cable running south from Ridgecrest, CA. The stations labeled within this window correspond to the locations indicated on the map on www.scsn.org. For more information on the SCSN seismic stations and DAS go to www.scsn.org
Technical Disclaimer: The length of time represented for the Seismograms is 10 minutes with a 2 second refresh rate. The time at the bottom is in UTC. Stations are sorted by latitude from north to south. There is a delay of approximately 20 seconds in the feed. The waveforms displayed are broadband (20-40 samples/second), high gain, vertical component channels using the SEED format channel type BHZ, with a high pass filter of 0.3Hz enabled. This feed is for visual purposes only and cannot be used to locate, identify, or analyze an earthquake with any degree of accuracy. Station selection subject to change as necessary. Graphical coloration is aesthetic and serves no scientific purpose.
The length of time represented in the DAS feed is 120 minutes with a 100 Hz sample rate. Seismic data are displayed in Pacific Standard Time (PST) during the winter and Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) during the summer. Samples are displayed as the cable is oriented, running from north to south with Ridgecrest (north) on the left of the window and Boron (south) on the right. There is a delay of approximately 20 seconds in the feed. This feed is for visual purposes only and cannot be used to locate, identify, or analyze an earthquake with any degree of accuracy. Streamed DAS array selection is subject to change. Graphical coloration is based on strain recorded at a given time and channel using a JET color bar with Blue representing low strain values, and Red representing high strain values.
