Always a crowd favorite with fans all around the course cheering on, it's also a favorite of mine due to the fast-paced racing with only 250 miles to make it happen. When you don't rerack a flat does it get recovered or does it become a souvenir for the fans? I imagine the tire is written off but is the wheel considered not trust worthy?
It becomes a souvenir. Lofton probably gets his wheels for free from Method. Why risk re-using it when you’re bolting it on to an $850,000 truck?
Some wheels and tires get recovered after the race. Most of the time not worth the chance of putting it back on and breaking a wheel
