I think I always tend to prefer the rendering style that most faithfully represents the original art, so sometimes when a company has a very distinct style that they use on every piece, they naturally do some pieces far better than others. If designers can really render graphic and cartoon styles well, sometimes their subtle watercolor or fine art renderings are cartoonized, or if a company does subtler styles well their pop art can get a bit washed out with confetti. All that to say, diversity in design within the same company seems like an asset. These videos are fascinating!! 😀❤️
Ok so I love this piece and I’m loving this comparison. I think the DAC version looks more like a “diamond painting” and the DPD looks more like a shimmering painting. Neither is better but one comes across a bit more animated in style and one comes off as a more artful aesthetic. They’re both beautiful and I’m loving watching these reveals. Personally, the DPD is more my aesthetic at this point which is valuable info since these Wall kits are an investment and I want to make sure my money and time goes into something I’ll love the finished product of. Thanks Katie for doing this it’s wonderful!!
As another lover of Josephine Wall's art, I decided to do research on the 3 companies that I know license her art. Uniquely Yours Down Under is the 3rd company and for me is right in the middle of the other 2 in style, colors, etc.. Though I chose a different piece "Water of Life" from this company with double sided adhesive and 102 colors of round diamonds I am truly happy with how it is turning out even though I am having some issues with the canvas 80 x 100 and bubbles. Sending love and hugs 🤗
I love Josephine Wall's art and the interpretation of it by DPD. That's my clear favorite. I also love kitting up, sorting through colours etc.. The more colors, the better imo.
This journey so far had been so much fun (from the perspective of something not actually doing to enormous paintings of the same picture 🤣). I love what your doing and thank you for all your time and EFFORT in providing this for your subscribers
Thanks again for putting the original art between the 2 for comparisons! Even with another section to compare, I’m loving the watercolour effect and rendering of the DPD one 😍
I love that you are doing this comparison! I understand that you could get burnt out doing 2 of the same, but I am enjoying seeing the 2 different versions. I go back and forth with which one I like better. I just received my first kit from Deutschland. I got Josephine’s Soul of the Unicorn. It is over 200 colors. I’m very excited to work on it. Thank you for this comparison and introducing me to DP Deutschland.
I love Josephine's art, it is gorgeous and highly detailed. Having said that, I would love to see what would happen if the person who does the hand charting for DAC get the computer generated version from Deutschland and tweak it, a kind of collab and narrow it down to 100 colors at most and poured glue (personally I do not like double sided tape). I have a feeling that the rendering would be an almost exact version of the original art work. Both companies have their strong suits and both are gorgeous,
After seeing the progression on both canvases, I agree that is still a crisp version versus a watercolor approach. After seeing this comparison, it occurs to me that DPD is what I consider a "museum" piece, where you would sit on a bench in the middle of a room and admire it at a distance. However, as a diamond painter who enjoys the process and seeing the image come to life in front of my eyes, I think DACs version would be more satisfying to create. So, I guess it boils down to this: do you want to create this yourself (DAC) or just enjoy looking at the final result. If the later is the case, I think I would be just as happy to purchase a print from the artist. As always, I admire your tenacity during this process. Fantastic content in these videos!
It is really interesting to see them both come to life! I ordered the one from Down Under......we shall see how that one compares one day!! Great job presenting both views!!
Thank you for doing this for us! I still just want them to have a DP baby together. Like maybe 80-90 colors and a little less crisp then DAC but a little more crisp than DPD. They are so very different from each other. That is what makes this such a fun project to watch. What I found really interesting was that in the original artwork you popped in those butterflies are clearly purple. Yet both companies interpreted them in different shades of blue. Can’t wait for the next one!
Just going by the sizes and number of colors, I was expecting the exact opposite of what they look like! I agree that the original is right in the middle of the two renderings. Can’t really say yet which I prefer. I’m really looking forward to seeing these when they are done! Thanks for doing this- what an undertaking!
You are a trooper, this is a major undertaking! You said exactly the thing, it's so hard to choose until you see them complete and from a little distance. I like them both so far but for very different reasons. And that's not diplomacy!
I'm with you, Katie. There has to be a middle ground between DAC and DPD, that gives a softer rendering than DAC and a more detailed rendering than DPD. In art, there is something called atmospheric perspective, which means as things recede into the distance they aren't as well-defined as things closer to us. That's what I would go for. Also, I think somewhere around 100-150 colors would be more manageable than 275, yet give a better overall appearance than DAC, which loses the soft transitions of the original piece. And now I see Lianne posted something similar. Great mind think alike, hm?
Love the dreamy and wispy look of original look..but love the brightness of DAC , would never do the 200 drill nor double sided glue..so DAC wins out for me.
I appreciate the artwork rendering of both pieces. I think the DPD canvas would look better in a larger space/room rather than a smaller one. In deciding which I would complete in the future, I would also consider what type of artwork/diamond paintings I already have hanging so they complement each other. Thank you for taking on this HUGE comparisons project! ~ Kel
Beautiful. I am loving the comparison. My personal preference on the rendering is DP Deutschland. To me, it looks the closest to the original art. That said, DAC did a great job paring down the colors to just 66 and they did a great job keeping it sub 100 colors. I don't feel like this painting needs the ABs but that's their signature style, so I get it.
Your doing a fantastic job - Thank you so much! I'm waiting on pins and needles - which one will I get? My mum recently passed away and this painting represents so much about her (to me) - the freedom, the nature, the woman in control ❤ Thanks so much for doing this.
Please take your time... I love that you're doing this for your subs. JWalls art is so facinating to me. One reason that I love your channel (there are many) is that you finish what you start and review them. Thank you for that.
Both of them are really nice I like dac version because the colours are bright and you can see the peacock feather clearer on dac can’t wait to see both finshed I have ordered the dac one only because I like another Josephine wall dp on the German diamond painting website
After watching your video I am thinking that the DPD version is more like the actual artwork. But I do love the colors and the crispness of the DAC version. So I am torn lol. And just to let you know, I have bought Josephine Wall's Tarsus & Pisces from DPD. One has 250 colors and the other has 275!!!! Help lmao. 😀
I will reiterate my previous comments comparing the right side with birds, that DAC was much crisper. The left column indicates the same.... DAC is much brighter and crisper than DPD. Since both are relatively the same size, it appears DAC would still look better no matter the distance.
You’re so sweet you’re kind you’re amazing you’re awesome you look so pretty and I love when you do the diamond painting videos even though I think you should do an actual video where you actually show us that you put the drills on of the time repeating you should video where we’re like where like you put the drill on the timer pinning on video so you could actually show us that you do it so making like separate videos of you getting it now and showing us and then weeks later you post another video of it done and you talk a lot about it
Personally I prefer the dpd as irs closer to the original by Josephine I don't like the lines that dac have out around the butterflies it looks a little cartoonish to me imo
I think because l like brighter colors l am more drawn to the art club one as the dutchland one looks washed out to me.....so if l bought one it would be the art club one even though it has less colors. ....
I don't like DPD. With 243 colors I would expect more vibrant and crisp lines.. appreciate your time in doing this for us and it has once again confirmed why I will still by from DAC. Even DACs Chuck Pensons renderings with all there colors are still beautiful and crisp.
While I think the DPD is a lot more true to the original piece by Josephine Wall, I still find myself gravitating to the brighter colors and cleaner look of the DAC. But you also know I have no interest in anything over like 100 colors because I’m not crazy, but I may be a little biased.
She has mentioned that for DPD pieces she hangs them flat in her hallway since she had some issues with her magical merry go round when she tried to roll it. In my experience DAC is perfectly fine being rolled as long as it’s rolled drills out
Thank you, Bronte! ☺️ Yep, I keep the DPD version hanging flat whenever I'm not working on it, but I roll the DAC (sometimes with the drolls facing in if I'm feeling lazy 🤫)
I much prefer the DPD version as it is much more like the original painting. DAC's version just looks like a cartoon and nothing like the original imo.

You've said it so well! I completely agree, friend!
I still love (and prefer )the 'watercolor look' from DP Deutschland😍
Ok so I love this piece and I’m loving this comparison. I think the DAC version looks more like a “diamond painting” and the DPD looks more like a shimmering painting. Interesting, so far I prefer DPD. The flying fish and butterflies look more like the artwork. I am loving this comparison ❤️

I completely agree, Lianne. That would be my perfect scenario, too!
I wonder if uniquely yours down under versions look like.
I meant to say what there rendering looks like.
After seeing the progression on both canvases, I agree that is still a crisp version versus a watercolor approach.

Loving the comparisons they both look great but I prefer dpd xx

I still enjoy the clarity and vivid colors of DAC. I like being able to tell apart those little animals in the painting.
Katie: Such great progress! I love the comparisons and understand how labor-intense this is. Great job! 👏👏👏👏
I love them both for different reasons! Thanks so much for doing this comparison it's really interesting to watch it unfold 😁
You are a trooper, this is a major undertaking! You said exactly the thing, it's so hard to choose until you see them complete and from a little distance. I like them both so far but for very different reasons. And that's not diplomacy!
They are Beautiful! I Love the details of DAC!
Wow! You are incredible doing two at once and doing them so quickly!
Thank you for your time! ❤

Thanks for sharing this! Love the DAC version much better! But both are very good 👍!
I'm working on the DAC canvas. I can't imagine doing 2 😉. Both are absolutely gorgeous.
Love the dreamy and wispy look of original look..but love the brightness of DAC , would never do the 200 drill nor double sided glue..so DAC wins out for me.
I love it. Can't wait for mine to come in from DAC

Those are really good points and things to take into consideration! Thanks, Kel! ☺️

I’m a new subscriber. I’ve been thinking about trying diamond painting but wasn’t sure were to start. I definitely enjoyed this video..😎
Both beautiful in their own unique ways. Guess it boils down to your personal preference. Personally, I love and prefer the DPD! Great comparisons!

I preordered this with DAC cuz I love the boldness. Thank you for the comparison! It’s very helpful.
Hey Katie 😁 Still watching... xx Cynthia
Can't wait to see them finished your doing a fab job
This is so very interesting!!! It really is personal preference!
After watching your video I am thinking that the DPD version is more like the actual artwork. But I do love the colors and the crispness of the DAC version. So I am torn lol. You have come so far already! You are such a quick diamond painting 😄 Its gonna be SO exciting seeing the end result ❤️
Love them both, love this project. 💕
I like the washi tape on the Diamond Art Club picture.
I am withholding my opinion until I see the completed paintings. No pressure. I just can't decide yet.
They are both beautiful
👍
Both paintings are absolutely beautiful. But a lot can be said for hand charting vs computer generated.
I like the DAC style more because it’s more clear
I will reiterate my previous comments comparing the right side with birds, that DAC was much crisper. The left column indicates the same.... DAC is much brighter and crisper than DPD. Since both are relatively the same size, it appears DAC would still look better no matter the distance.

I agree that there are elements from both renderings that make it hard to decide what I prefer! This is a great comparison!
🌹🌹❤️❤️
I much prefer Diamond Art Clubs as it is much more bright & vibrant. The other one is too wishy washy for me.
I think because l like brighter colors l am more drawn to the art club one as the dutchland one looks washed out to me.....so if l bought one it would be the art club one even though it has less colors. ....

I beg to differ (on the crazy part 😉)

Does DPD have a website in English
You can use a browser like Google Chrome to automatically translate the website to English for you!
When you are not working on them do they have to be stored flat?
She has mentioned that for DPD pieces she hangs them flat in her hallway since she had some issues with her magical merry go round when she tried to roll it. In my experience DAC is perfectly fine being rolled as long as it’s rolled drills out
Thank you, Bronte! ☺️ Yep, I keep the DPD version hanging flat whenever I'm not working on it, but I roll the DAC (sometimes with the drolls facing in if I'm feeling lazy 🤫)
We want the colors of DPD but the detail of DAC
I much prefer the DPD version as it is much more like the original painting. DAC's version just looks like a cartoon and nothing like the original imo.
