There is no "pretending" anything when it comes to one's NATIONALITY!
Nationality is acquired USUALLY BY BIRTH in the country in question. In this case, Black person being born in Russia.
A nationality is from being CITIZEN of a country!
A Russian nationality is from being CITIZEN OF RUSSIA!
A Chinese CITIZEN of Russia IS ALSO Chinese-Russian!
Same for Indian born in Russia, he would be an Indian Russian, or german or french or WHEREVER the CITIZEN was born.
A Black Russian only means that the Black person was born in Russia AND IS CITIZEN of Russia!

Kidnapped as a child, Gannibal was taken to Russia and presented as a gift to Peter the Great, where he was freed, adopted and raised in the Emperor's court household as his godson. Gannibal eventually rose to become a prominent member of the imperial court in the reign of Peter's daughter Elizabeth. He had 11 children, most of whom became members of the Russian nobility; he was a great-grandfather of the author and poet Alexander Pushkin

Russia truly has a truly mysterious and very unknown history. This just further adds to it. Hearing about this info is very interesting and very unique!
There is nothing too mysterious about it. Just like any other country it has history of oppression, class struggle, wars and even racism as well (not at the scale as it was in the West, with slavery, but still it existed). There was Russian chauvinsim in tsars` Russia, many nations were oppressed. Maybe in the Soviet times we had less nationalism, and we sincerely didn`t care that much about ethnicity and race, we were internationalists, but natiolism came back in the end of prerestroika. And I think it`s sad.

Eh, I'm Russian and I'd say we got quite the same history as all the other European countries.
We had Kings (Tsars), Emperors and Dictators.. Our people were enslaved by others just to make us stronger and united to resist, which in return made us enslave our own people.
The history of Russia is sometimes ugly and sometimes glorious, but one thing I'm proud of, for 1000 years it exists it didn't enslave other nations but rather aggregate them into Russia (hence why 190 different nations are living in Russia right now, with different skin color, religion and beliefs and yet, they're all Russian people, being Russian is not being white of Slavic descent)
What I'm trying to say is that if you were born in Russia, you speak and think in Russian, you're culturally Russian - the skin color doesn't matter, you can be black, asian, white or of any other descent - you are still Russian, there's was no race segregation thus for us it's a strange concept to hate someone based on his skin color or nationality.
I'm russian and I would love to meet a black russian or any other russian of another origin. it's very unique.

Whereas, the entrance of Whites on the continent of Africa brought oppression to Black Africans... who the land belonged to in the first place! That's one way to look at it but we have to remember that during the FDR administration quite a few Marxist and Bolshevik sympathisers visited Soviet Union. They came in all colors and shapes. The people described here must have had Stalinist sympathies or they would have been liquidated in his camps. As long as they did not challenge the murderous rule of Bolsheviks, they would have been treated fairly since their propaganda value was considerable.

The first POC in Russia was Abkhazians of African descent or Afro-Abkhazians, also known as African Caucasians, were a small group of people of African descent in Abkhazia.
Looks like this doc promises to be fascinating, and all those years I've heard(and have said) the old reference as something being as impossible as the chances of seeing a '"Black Russian";shows our ignorance when historical matters big or small are forgotten or not widely known.

I'm on the other side of this history. I recently took a DNA test on Ancestry and had a small Eastern Europe\Russia\Ukraine DNA pattern. Then I took a deeper dive into my DNA with FTDNA and Geno2.0 and discovered that my Mother's ancestry goes to Eastern Europe (Haplo Group H,V - HV2 - HV2a2). Therefore, my mother, mother's mothers from that region had a child with my Ancestral grandfather. Myself, like may others probably tend to think Europe or non African DNA is a white male.
I have a cousin not blood related and she has West African, Eastern European and British ethnicity.
I took one also and mine had me all over the place. Native American markers, Jewish markers, Saudi Arabian, Moroccan, South African, Italian, British, Iranian, Angolian, Omani, Brazilian and Spanish. I don't what to say to that. Makes me think that DNA isn't accurate. Not sure what to think. I love all people and I have friends on almost all the continents (from schooling), but how can a person have all this in just a small portion of their DNA?
@@ashirahh Depends on the generation level. At the 10 generation starting with your parents, you have 1024 Grandparents. You can take the FTDNA.com test mtFull Sequence. For males they can also take the Y-Chromosome test. Geno 2.0 is another test that explains your origins.

I am writing in English because I am living in America for 10 years now. I am from Perm I have many family there who adhere to strict cultural and heritage pride. English is my superior language. But yet when it came to religion, no problem in dumping innocent people into gas chambers in Hell
What does this tell us?
It tells us that our morals are subjective, not objective
As a black man my co-worker was a minority, facing discrimination and so he was enlightened, must like the Muslims you see here in the west - "We should not judge people based on religion, we are people just like you" etc etc
But the very same black man as a Christian now is with the majority and is fine with pushing minorities or others into gas chambers in Hell - his view changed
Same with Muslims - not one muslim-majority nation is secular - in each and every one of them, Islam must get the last word - non-muslims must be ok with being discriminated, treated as 2nd class citizens
The even more creepy thing is the silence - from philosophers, the educated & the Moral
Not one of them ever talks about religious division and abuse - well most of them are on the "right" side, with the majority and hence the silence

A lot of people don't know this piece of history that Russia was very instrumental in ending apartheid in South Africa.

White people also migrating to African and Caribbean countries as well nowadays. Its nothing new. Africans are in South America, Canada, West Europe, Australia, U.S just like whites are everywhere outside Europe such as U.S, South America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand. Its like you asking africans to back to africa but in return they have right to ask you the same and that is to go back to Europe. So don't pull that question coz it will backfire and it will put you to instigate bigotry argument which shouldn't be asked for everyone!!!
If you think about it. At the time many of those place were still under some type of oppressive colonial rule, even in the Carribean. That's about the only reason I can think of.
