The original feels like a celebration during dark times. This feels like self reflection and trying to be happy and strong during the darkest period in one's life. Both versions sound different but they both have the same message that we should stand strong during hardships.

Whoever sang this has a beautiful voice and kudos to them, but I can stand the fact that she put her face over it. Before you hate on me please look at 2:27-2:30 when it says close your eye instead of eyes, if you look closely you can see that she forms it the exact same way she forms eyes.

You do realize that the only difference between "eye" and "eyes" is the pleural at the end and thus would both be formed in the exact same way. the "s" would be so subtle if not nonexistent for a well practiced vocalist that It would have no effect. Not to mention that the "s" is formed with the tongue and not the lips. The basis of your accusation is unfounded.

AimlessMoto Actually, looking happy while singing a decidedly slower tempo version of a song with serious lyrics describing the volcanic destruction of the city of Pompeii, would seem to me to be quite incongruous & inappropriate - even granted that Bastille chose to be smiling throughout their much more up tempo, original version. Presumably you`re easily bummed out.
Well, the song isn't about Pompeii itself... it's a metaphor for knowing a relationship is coming to an end but can't change anything about it. Also, it's a fairly up-beat song.
The song may, perhaps, be interpreted as being as much about the destruction of Pompeii as a "metaphor" for the end of an irretrievable relationship. The lyrics remain serious, downbeat and sober, either way. The only up beat aspect of its original presentation was that Bastille gave it a much more up tempo, chuga chuga rhythm. That doesn`t mean that every singer following on has to slavishly follow Bastille`s original concept of the song, no matter how much some might like them to. This young lady chose to put her own imaginative slant on it, slowing down the tempo and giving it a ballad treatment. That is surely the point of doing a cover, and she`s not the only young singer on YT to have re worked the tempo of the song. Given her very much personalised treatment of the song here, a serious demeanour is entirely in keeping and appropriate; looking happy would be ridiculous. A comment a little way down says it all for me ..."Pompeii, the way it should be sung - with pathos..."

I see where people come from when they say its fake. The audio in this video is not her in the video, but that's pretty obvious. It should also be obvious that this is her voice. Great cover, and keep it up!
Second sentence not correct, although everything else is!... You are, I take it, suggesting that she`s lip synching. She`s not, it`s live to camera. The audio and video as is always the case, are recorded on separate tracks resulting, typically, in a visual lag of some milliseconds. I suspect the "Fake" experts are though coming at it from the perspective of hearing the blending in of the music and echo effect, courtesy of reverb. Reverb, of course, does not though alter the voice at all.

Simply, she got a word wrong (possibly), and it`s not as though she is singing one word while her mouth is shaping another word. 'This is of course live to the mic. The most likely explanation for any slight visual anomaly - if that is what you feel you`re seeing, though I`m certainly not - is that a pop or click occurred during recording which could not be removed, and a small section of the audio had to be replaced - a very common situation.

I really appreciate this cover and it has made my day to find out you covered it. When I put on those headphones, the music instantly took me back to all my memories with my best friends in 2017. But it was too good to last. On the 20th October 2018, I cut off contact with them. This was over things getting difficult for me with them because they were becoming bullies rather than friends. They humiliated me in front of the whole road. The worst part was that I did nothing. 20 minutes earlier, I was sitting on the couch watching a movie, when I got a call from one of them asking me to come out. So I did. And that's what I got from it. Since then, things haven't been the same and I don't think they ever will. We had been friends since we were 8 (I'm 14 now), so it was hard to be without them. I'm alright most of the time, but I sometimes get a few tearful moments when I play back songs or look at old photos.
Back in 2017, we used to all gather round in a group and sing this song. The times we had were the best I ever had. And now you've made it all come back to me, Jasmine.
