Alas, I believe this engine was never offered with a 4 speed auto with lock-up torque converter...only 3 speed auto...and DEFINATELY not offered with a turbo. How much more efficient would that combo be? Each cylinder on this engine is surrounded by 5 studs/bolts, so it CAN take boost.
In all honesty... it probably would not take too kindly to boost. It was built much better than the 5.7 diesel motors but still not meant to be a diesel
Very rare piece of history, but it doesn't sound quite right. There is a "clunk" to the normal "diesel chatter". Perhaps something is amiss internally.
