    Thank you so much! I’ve been getting myself in a state over worrying about the car - no accidents, but three very young grandchildren being ferried about hasn’t left it in ‘mint’ condition. I feel much better now.

    Every time I’ve handed a lease car back it’s been clean enough to put straight on to the showroom forecourt. I can’t help it 😫. Your car is clean in normal car terms. One delivery/collection driver remarked that some cars he’s collected have been so filthy he hadn’t wanted to drive them. Wheels are very flexible, when I’ve thought I’d be charged for curb rash & scrapes I haven’t. Good video.

      Yeah, the S5 wasn't properly manky but it just highlights that it's not as clean as it would be if you were to sell it and show it to its best. Hopefully this will save you some time the next time you hand your car back!

    When lex took my immaculate car back they charged me £171 .damage but i am old so the perfect target to be ripped off here is another company experience ....We used them for our work fleet years ago and they tried in on a few times, we refused to pay and they just waived the charges. We then moved to Arval for the work fleet who were always fair.

    I've just had my end of lease inspection and it pretty much reflects the experience in this video.
    My car did have marks, a scuff on the alloy (about 10cm long) and a scuff to the plastic trim on the bumper. It wasn't perfect there are little marks here and there, It got a wash and vac with its 3 year service and MOT about a week ago, I didn't do anything other than that to prep it and despite the items above there were no additional charges. It was the end of my first lease and it was really straightforward, all done and dusted in 30 mins.

      There are very clear BVRLA guidelines stating what is acceptable. The whole point of this video was to highlight that a door ding, a few superficial scratches, some chips on the alloys, paint crazing, and not the cleanest car is not going to get you any charges. It's not an immaculate car but then again, it's fairly reflective of life just getting in the way of keeping it mint. As for door dings 🤬

    • @Leaseloco
      @Leaseloco  5 років тому

      Why assume? The whole point of this video was to show that you don't get shafted when you hand your car back on a lease. In fact, the charges are more often than not a) cheaper than it would be to have it repaired yourself, and b) less than what a buyer would price chip you for trying to sell the car on with the damage.

    • @Leaseloco

      @@MosherMike It depends on the funder but in this case, the car was leased through VWFS. There is a very clear cost guide on their website - www.vwfinance.co.uk/en/privatecustomers/how_agreements_work/contract_hire/at_the_end_of_agreement.html You'll see it's £110.40+VAT for a scratched/keyed panel. What!? There’s no excuse for treating your car like that. Funnily enough, I have a 67 plate S5 Sportback aswell, and I would NEVER, ever, ever treat my car like that.
    I have 3 kids, that’s no excuse... I look after my things.
    Then again, I buy my cars, so maybe if you actually work for something then you have more respect for it... rather than renting a car you can’t afford 🤷🏻‍♂️

      So I pay all of the deprecation to a finance company, who then take “my” car off me as their asset after years of pointless monthly instalments, which they’ll then sell on for a profit? No thanks. Oh, then I’m expected to start the process again.
      A logical person asks how much, not how much a month.
      Leasing is for wannabes, you’ll never take advantage of your money if you throw your disposable monthly income away.

    • @Leaseloco
      @Leaseloco  5 років тому +4

      @@jacobthompson8507 That's not how it works at all. Take this BMW 4 series for example, www.leaseloco.com/car-leasing/bmw/4-series-gran-coupe/420i-m-sport-5dr-auto-professional-media/89233142. This is a £37,795 list price car but you can lease it for £7,799.35 all in over two year. Even includes road tax. What would you get on trade in on that car after two years? More than £30k? Obviously not. In fact, I just put the reg into WBAC for a car advertised on Autotrader. The car is a higher spec (Reg YH18 FVS) but the trade in value is £19k. Would you even get £19k after they kick the tyres? Who knows. That's an 18 plate car with 13k miles on it. Not even covering the 20k miles and two years the lease gives you. Anyway, nearly £19k of depreciation. So you're right, ask 'how much', not how much a month. But do the maths and you'll quickly realise if you want a new car it's the cheapest way to get one, especially compared to buying outright. Hope that helps in some way 😃

    I’ve never returned a leased car, I sell them 6 months before they are due in. This is a personal preference and I get to make money in the process but I appreciate that rules vary from country to country. Here in the UK I’ve always sold my leased car before the depreciation takes a nose dive. I only buy Mercedes though . I presume a Renault or a Ford would leave you in a massive negative equity straight out of showroom so it wouldn’t be ideal to sell them privately.

    • @Leaseloco

      We're talking about slightly different things here - you have a PCP where you're the legal owner. This is Personal Contract Hire (Leasing), whereby you're always going to have an inspection. Right to buy is very rare and almost never economical.

      Definitely not fake :) If I had charges, I'd have said so as it would have made a better video as charges are almost always way less than people think. For example, I crashed my wife's car into a fence and didn't repair it - deep scratches across bumper and wing, and cracked wheel arch. £55+VAT. We did this video to show people that it's not a scary process and is pretty well controlled by the BVRLA. Given the savings made leasing, we're just trying to educate people on some of these misnomers like 'I'm going to get shafted on damage costs. It's just not the case.

      @@lawrencetaylor4318 I'd say your experience isn't generally consistent with others. Sure, there are people who have bad experiences and they take to a public platform like Twitter or TP to try and get it resolved. But leasing has grown by 25% every year for the last 4 years and that's not by accident. I haven't leased with LeasePlan but my personal experience with Lex has been excellent. 4 series was a mess, bonnet looked like it had been hit with a shotgun, alloys marked (within limits), a couple of door dings, rear parking scuffs, and generally not clean. Guy did his checks and within 10 mins I had a pdf emailed to me confirming a clean bill of health and no charges. Forum chatter elsewhere makes me believe this is consistent with others. And when charges have occurred, they have been lower than a cost to repair themselves so, again, people left happy either way.
