speaking of queue's. I had a British friend tell me that when they get to their gate at the airport, if there are no seats, he will start a queue, then his wife will join the queue, and after a couple of minutes, others will vacate their seats to join the queue. Then he and his wife will leave the queue to find empty seats. Is this where a British person would say "Brilliant!" ?
Really is quite brilliant!!! Y’all are too cute. I’d rather someone say “sorry” way too many times than say “just kidding” which many young Americans do instigated apologizing. Joel, you drank Diet Coke when in America. Do you change drinks when traveling? I’m mostly a water drinker (flat) but will drink a Sprite Zero if there is one around. But no coffees or any type of tea.
Hilarious!! I'll have to try that!!! I hate lines/queues (American here/Brit on the inside), people are so ridiculous and don't move when they're supposed to, drives me crazy/mad, no one knows where to stand or if there are 2 cashiers people make one line instead of 2 and back up everything into the parking lot. 🤯
My son goes to university in Washington DC, one day we were talking on the phone and he said all these people were lining up. Anyway he jumps in the line with no idea what it is, I would never do that but he did. Anyway it ends up being a meet and great for Bobby Flay from the food channel at his burger bar. My son got a picture with Bobby and a free burger because he was in the first 100 people
@Thomas Johnson Are you confused, expecting more to Matts story, or just being hateful? I would hope it's not that last choice. Life is too short for that. Have a lovely day.
The dry sarcasm is so British. Like in "Aladdin" when his alter ego Prince Ali is introduced to Jafar and Jafar says, dead-faced, "Charmed.” That was hilarious.

The x at the end of a message brought back a funny memory. I had a friend in London, we used to message back and forth and he'd always put 2 or 3 x's at the end of his message. Well I'm not sure about England, but in America XXX means something very different than a kiss! I finally asked him why the x's and he explained. I was relieved then, because he was just about old enough to be my dad!😂
This is exactly true!!! Overly polite, take forever saying goodbye, passive aggressive enthusiasm (“Oh, Bless your heart.”) I think Joel & Lia would like visiting the southern United States.

When you're finished you go to one of the self-checkout terminals, scan a code on it, and pay.
In America, we call that the "Midwest Goodbye". I have a friend who is a PRO at it. Takes you like 5 minutes to end a phone call with him because he's got 10 different renditions of goodbyes to go through. 🤣
I opened the door in my dorm for a guy from London, he responded with “cheers” and I literally died right there. It sounded so nice. This is “loosely” related to this video lol but I’m just bored rn

When I'm on the phone with my mom, we both keep saying bye back and forth, probably three times each, before we hang up. This was a fun video. Thanks J & L!
Love exploring our cultural differences! In my family, it’s fairly common to end an email, card or letter with “xoxoxo.” But we only do that with people who we really know well.
Lol. I am SOOO that guy who just says “bye” and ‘click.’ I dunno why. I think it’s because my family is so indecisive so saying bye a dozen times always feels like the same thing and it drives me a little bit bonkers.
I do that sometimes too. Particularly with one of my friends - Me: Dad's calling me: I needa get going. I'll talk to you later! him: {keeps talking}, me: okay, bye! {click}
One reason for the quick scan is that cashiers are graded on how quickly they scan merchandise. At the craft store I work, minimum acceptable scan raisin is 800 items per hour.

It's a nice way to say farewell or talk to you later. That sounds so weird that grocery store clerks comment on people's shopping items and telling them that chocolate is unhealthy. No-one should have the right to tell other people how to shop.

Some stores in the U.S. you have to bag your own groceries, but you have to buy the bags. One store you have to pay a quarter to get a cart. They are locked together. The quarter unlocks it. When you are done, you put it back. You get your quarter back, then they don't have to pay someone to go out and gather carts every hour. It keeps prices down.

You two are spoiling me with these daily vlogs! Don't stop! I love them. Joel, your story about the clerk commenting on everything that your mother bought really shocked and triggered me. The impudent creature should be fired! LOL! I honestly don't know how I would react. Probably like your Mom did. I would be so flustered and embarrassed. By the time I got home I would be thinking of what I should have said. I tend to say "sorry" or "I am sorry to have bothered you" quite a bit. Knowing that I share many similarities with British folks gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Thanks for entertaining me and also for making my day! Peace and love to both of you, your significant others and of course to Ava! ♥️🙏🏽🌎
John, I was triggered too by the clerk who commented on Joel's mom's purchases. A clerk at Wal-Mart once gave me a hard time when I bought eggs that were ¨free range¨. He asked if they tasted better than the less expensive regular kind, and I said I believe they're supposed to be more nutritional. And he said kind of arrogantly ¨But do they TASTE better?" He was definitely trying to make the point that I was wasting my money. The nerve! Stay well!
...Sprite Zero?! I now find myself leaning forward into the screen and shouting "I have had a Sprite Zero!" every time you bring it up. I love it!♡ Thanks alot Rachel 😘 🇺🇸♡🇬🇧

Love You 😍 Joel & Lia 🤗😘
The nerve! Stay well!
The bye routine did me in. 😂😂😂😂
Lia, thank you for mentioning very British problems! I have not stopped laughing! Well done, you!
...Sprite Zero?!
I now find myself leaning forward into the screen and shouting "I have had a Sprite Zero!" every time you bring it up.
I love it!♡ Thanks alot Rachel 😘

So funny.. I do the same as your mom. At our local walmart there is one guy that ALWAYS talks about the things I'm buying. I hate it! lol
You guys are so funny! We'd love to see a video about weird things left on the tube. Tyfs. xxx 💕
Thank you for explaining the “kiss-x” thing. I follow a British nail artist and loads of the comments have an x after the comment. I had no idea.
I am OG, I have been watching since 100k subs. And I literally just noticed that "Being British" was removed
