Agreed, this is awesome! The trick about setting a loop in all the clips for each section is something I've never heard of before, that makes things SO much easier and quicker.

I am currently an FL Studio user but I am planning to make the switch and these videos have been a massive help. I will definitely be coming back to these once I have the proper equipment and once I have gotten used to Ableton. Thanks once again!
I'm totally new at performance but already have plenty of stuff I've done in the studio. This really helped me get a grasp of how I might use Live's Session view to actually perform my tracks, so thanks very much Julian Gray!!
Hi Julian, excellent tutorial series! One remark though: complex mode is quite CPU-intensive, so if for whatever reason you tax your CPU heavily, this might not be your best option. In a live-setting, usually I'll apply it only if all other algorithms don't pull it off. This because I don't have a really strong laptop and I combine a bunch of audio- and MIDI-clips with a live audio feed such as a bass guitar. Hope that helps. Keep up the good work!
Great video series. Aren't clips going to click if they loop back on themselves? Specifically. A synth pad bounced to audio is going to pop and click with out any fade in/out etc. Making synth loops is a topic in of itself. Any deeper explanation please? 🙂 Thanks.
Hey if anyone's having trouble with the waveform not showing up when you click 'warp' (it just says 'x tracks are selected etc) you gotta make sure all your stems are EXACTLY the same lengths. I exported mine with 'audio tails' checked (for reverbs etc) in Logic and my stems were like seconds apart in length but Ableton still didn't like it. Hope this helps someone, though maybe I'm just a dumbass... PS awesome vid btw ;)
If they are different lengths is there a way t5o make them uniform, cause I am having this exact problem, exported stems from Logic and because the Bass comes in on bar 3 I cannot get this to work haha.

It just acured to me that I don't need to buy a DJ deck to start DJing but can instead use my Novation MIDI controller. Should I just place the songs in 1 track and use filters to fade them into each other? What should I do if the tempo is different? Thanks so much for your videos, always worth watching!
Hey quick question when I try to select all the clips like you did I keep getting am message in the clip view that "you have selected two clips that are of different length" Anyway to remedy that?
Thanks ! But what about the sidechain ? I have the habit to group all my scenes expect the kick, put a compressor in the group, but with the 8 scenes, the sidechain effect doesn't work, can you help ? (or someone else 😊)
Good stuff here, it definitely helps wrap your mind around a live set! Would it be easy to turn on a looping function instead of playing straight through to the next track? As in, have it default to playing the next track, but push a button and loop the current clip(s) that is playing?
Same thing same function, just don't have the follow actions on there. I have mine set up the way Julian does until it gets to a bridge or hook, then I let that loop until I want to move to the next thing so I can play with the effects and all that.
yo julian, greate video bro :)... one question: what if the bpm of r songs changes? i mean how can i play songs with diferent bpm at the same live set? hug
Hello, all the other videos I've seen explaining how to do live sets, they were consolidating the track by bars... and after drag it to the live session view and you instead took the whole track in one and on the live session view you were looping the song and split it in different parts... Now im more confused...

is it possible to use unwarped clips in session view? I suppose if you want to loop anything, that's not an option.

you can adjust the tempo and all your clips (assuming warp is enabled) will follow
