After breakfast one morning Raymond, Ragan, and I began singing from an old hymnal, starting whit page one. He began to notice the texts apart from their familiar tunes... Raymond set these words in new melodies and made them fresh, It was like getting new dresses for old, dear friends.

Beautiful Recording! I was born in the late fall of 1978. My maternal aunt by marriage gave me this alum and piano music to this album! My mom and I saw Cynthia Clawson in concert in Louisville, Kentucky in 1983 while Cyntia Clawson was living in Louisville, Kentucky! It was Wonderful!

Only God can judge, but I think she must be a truly good soul. Loved her voice since I was little. I also like her version on the movie "A Trip to Bountiful," which is also a good and wholesome film about life.
My mother used to play this very recording on a cassette for me when I was a little boy, and would often sing it to me when tucking me in to bed at night. I startled my wife when I started weeping like a child as I rediscovered this recording again after 30 years. My mother passed away this past spring of cancer, and this recording brought her back to me if but for a moment. Thank you for posting.

Her all-time best song, in my opinion! What a voice, what a message -- what a blessing.
I accepted Jesus as my Saviour in 1975 , and this hymn really is one that speaks of the Desire of ages calling me home and Cynthia sings it so appealingly...her voice is so soothing.
I think this is one of her best songs on one of her best albums. My favorite track would be The Journey, which got me through some tough times. I bought this LP new in the late 70s, and was devastated when at some point it warped when I left it on a hot stereo amplifier. I still have the warped LP. For many years her early music was unavailable due to a dispute with her record label, so I was reduced to using my pre-warpage deteriorating cassette copy. At some point (200x?) some things showed up briefly on CD and I immediately ordered The Way I Feel. The CDs are no longer available, but the music is available for download. Great stuff.
I am weeping deeply right now. I remember singing this version 35 years ago. Back then I was a young married woman with two small children. I am so broken inside. So many losses since then. I lost everything and everyone since 1999. I have lost my way. I have lost my faith. Please don't say "pray or trust in God" or read your Bible. I did that all those years and still lost everything 💔 My ex cheated on me and filed for divorce in 1999. He got everything including our kids. I am estranged from my 4 adult children. I can't stop sobbing. Hearing her sing has opened up so much pain.
Everyone has had losses in life, sounds like you have had more than your fair share. Hope you can find your way back to the Lord.
Praying for you...sometimes our only help is to remember that God sees and bottles our tears.

Repent of your sin of turning your back on God ask His forgiveness and you will be restored. It’s not God’s fault these things happened, they are human created. Yes, God probably allowed it to happen and when you return to Him, He will strengthen you to help others.

Love it, love it, love it! The moment I and several college friends heard it in 1976: Wow! At that time, we loved the old hymns, but as teenagers, we wanted new melodies to go along with the theologically profound words of those great hymn writers. AND....THIS IS THE ONLY UA-cam link of the song, where I actually see the name of the the hymn writer, Will L. Thompson. He wrote the words (and his own tune), in 1880.
