Thank you Joost and Yard O Lead. This was one of the best things I've watched in ages. It is so heartening to know there are still people who bring such passion to their work.
Thank you Joost for coming to my home city and visiting the Yard-O-Led workshop. I am proud of the unique pen making legacy of Birmingham, and hopefully one day in the future you will visit my own pen making workshop.
Mr Appelboom that was a beautiful film you created I live in Birmingham and have walked by Yard O Led loads of times because of the building and drawn it a few times, this what Birmingham was about crafts people creating things and Yard O Led is part of it still saving to get one of there pencils thank you
Thank you for sharing! You are lucky to live so close to the workshop! We are sure that if you knock on the door they will let you in and show you their precious work. One day you will own such a piece of art!
This is so freaking awesome. I have recently just looked into getting a lifetime pencil and I think I'm going to go with a Yard-O-Led for it. Love that it's all hand made in small batches the old way too. So amazing to see these craftsmen do what they do.
Thank you Joost. This was a wonderful video, it gave me happiness to see that somewhere in the UK, there is still the beautiful spirit of the Isles, where craftmanship is still alive. I will be ordering a Yard O Led from you.
Thanks a nice video to tell me how my Viceroy Barley Standard Fountain Pen was crafted... how my vintage Yard O Led Silver Pencil was assembled .. fabulous Birmingham Writing Instrument Capital Globally for centuries..
Thank you and Yard O Lead for the wonderful video! Your normal videos are all fantastic, but IMHO this one has an especially unique character that takes it up a notch.
Thank you and I am happy to see this video. I have several mechanical Pencils in my collection. They are vintage and ia surprised to see those pens and pencils are still been on the production. It is one of the best craftsmanship that is still in continuation on writing instruments. Bravo to everyone who keep this living to our time.
Thanks for a great tour round a very traditional workshop. My ancestors worked in the Jewellery Quarter in the 19th Century, and I am sure they would have recognised many of the processes involved.
What a great video! I have a Yard O Led Viceroy Grand Victorian fountain pen. It is a work of art, and after seeing this video about the hand work that went into it, I appreciate it even more. Each piece is indeed made by hand 100%, and is unique. So very special. The 18K nickel plated fine nib on mine is so responsive, and those long slender tines give nice subtle line variation. A real pleasure to write with. They write and function as great as they look!
Thank you for this tour Joost. The Deco 33 was my grail pencil. I never did manage to aquire one, although I do have a Deco 34. The craftsmen & women at Yard O Led make truly beautiful pencils.
Thanks for this great insight into true craftsmanship. This video made me realize even more how much I miss my Yard-O-Led Viceroy Grand Barley fountain pen which I sold to a friend 20 years ago due to financial problems. But now I want (I need) a Yard-O-Led again. But this time I decided to get a Victorian - which I just ordered from Appelboom 😃. Thanks, Joost, for this interesting video and to the amazing people at Yard-O-Led for their great skills and passion. Btw. the lifetime warranty is really a lifetime warranty - I had a small problem with my fountain pen after 10 years, and it was repaired within 2 weeks without any questions or any cost ❤❤. Compare this to the service of Mont Blanc and you know how they care for their customers.
Thank you for watching and sharing your story. We truly appreciate your order! The lifetime warranty is something that Yard-O-Led can offer because they stand completely behind their product and love it with every piece of them
@@AppelboomPennen ❤ Yes, they are amazing. I don't think that there is any manufacturer I know who is taking so much care of their pens. I am so happy that I will have a Yard-O-Led pen soon again.
Fascinating view of the Yard-O-Led manufacturing process. It explains the craftsmanship, the detail and the pricing for their writing instruments. Where do they source the nibs and feed?
Welcome to Birmingham!
Thank you! It is a wonderful city✨
Thank you Joost and Yard O Lead. This was one of the best things I've watched in ages. It is so heartening to know there are still people who bring such passion to their work.

I absolutely love that inside these century old cabinets, stuff is being stored in re-used butter tubs
This is so freaking awesome. I have recently just looked into getting a lifetime pencil and I think I'm going to go with a Yard-O-Led for it. Love that it's all hand made in small batches the old way too. So amazing to see these craftsmen do what they do.
A Yard-O-Led pencil is definitely something special and unique. We are happy to help you with it!

Just fantastic that in today's age we still have craftsmen (and women) who do these things by hand, with love and attention to detail.
They truly do an amazing job! We can recommend every collector to have at least one Yard-O-Led pen or pencil in his/her collection!
I have to admit I was impressed. I had no idea how manual the production process of these pens was.
Thank you for watching, the workmanship in the YOL pens is very impressive!
Thanks a nice video to tell me how my Viceroy Barley Standard Fountain Pen was crafted... how my vintage Yard O Led Silver Pencil was assembled .. fabulous Birmingham Writing Instrument Capital Globally for centuries..
Wow!!! I'm a manual machinist by trade, from Ecuador, and currently working in Canada , and I'm very, very impressed.
Thank you for sharing, we appreciate your feedback!

Maybe the nib was from a factory in Germany, called Bock.
Thank you for a great tour. So nice to see crafts people and a company that cares about its product.
