WOW, just wow! I never expected you to review Loma Linda products! I'm a fourth-gen Adventist vegan who was pretty much reared on these as staples, along with Worthington products. For years, they were the only faux meats I knew existed. With today's options seeming so gourmet, I thought these were better left in the past. But to see them receive your careful inspection and general approval validated my childhood in a way I didn't know I needed, haha.
It was pretty fun to watch somebody review these products that seem outdated to me! I laughed to myself when she was surprised they were only sold in packs of 12. Lol. Imagine how shocked she be to see somebody rolling out of a camp meeting sale having to use a dolly to get all of their fake meat to the car! :)
neovincci hey y’all! I’m also Adventist and have grown up on these products.. how weird seeing someone doing a review of them calling them “vegan meats off amazon” lol!!
Yeah the cans look like they are dated from the 60's haha. Graphics department never seem to bother to update them. But they are surprisingly good. I took a chance and tried it anyways, before this video.
Your reviews are so kind. Paraphrasing “It’s not very good, but maybe it’s the way I cooked it.” Thanks for reviewing these. I enjoy their hotdogs, and I’ve been curious about a bunch of their other products. ♥️
Hi Sara! Yes, please do more taste test videos. I trust your honest opinion when you review the items. Thank you for all of the effort put into the videos, I enjoy you tremendously. The Beyond Sausages sound good and haven't tried the Beyond Burger yet due to the fact people that reviewed it said it smelled like cat food and don't know if I could stomach that. Be blessed!
Sarah's Vegan Kitchen. Cool, thank you for the instructions. Maybe I will try it after all. Canned dog and cat food makes me gag but my furry little Boy loves it. I tried feeding him a vegan diet but it wasn't keeping him satisfied enough so he does get a good amount of veggies along with the dry kibble. Oh well at least I eat vegan.
Loma Linda has been around for a long time. Back in the 1970's we had to make our own tofu dogs out of tofu ourselves. I think it was late 70's, maybe 80's when Loma Linda appears in stores here in CT. Our local health food store still carries them to this day. They are very good.
Thanks for doing this video! We tried the “scallops” - seasoned more like chicken (covered with bbq, then coated in panko and baked, not bad. Also just tried the vege-burger, seasoned with taco seasoning, onions, garlic, cumin & oregano and it made pretty decent tacos. We never knew about this brand before your video, thanks! My husband tried the hotdogs, but prefers the smokier tasting brand that’s out in stores - although he said they weren’t bad. Nice to have some alternatives.
Loma Linda is an old company. I've bought their stuff at Seventh-Day-Adventist conference center in Denver. :) They make a really good canned taco seasoned vegan meat. And YES to the Just Mayo Thousand Island dressing!!
Omg thank you for this! The 7th Day A. store near me has the entire Loma Linda Line and I have never had the nerve to try! Totally gonna pick up a hot dog 🤟🏻
Also! Folks in Loma Linda, CA (7th Day Adventist) are in a BLUE ZONE, ie live in a geographic area with the highest percentage of folks over 100 years old per capita. Of course it’s more than just dietary lifestyle, but hey, GO VEGAN!
I found these at my local Seventh Day Adventist Church Market. And they're a lot cheaper than Amazon. Nonetheless I recommend them for their shelf-life. Vegans and vegetarians can prep emergency foods.
Also, what I like about canned stuff is that you can keep a selection for those 'last minute' plans that don't allow for shopping. I don't have a lot of success with frozen goods because I forget they are in freezer and generally have freezer burn by the time I think of them.
I can’t imagine eating the burger plain. It’s like eating ground beef with no season . . . Yuck. Love mixing the veggie burger with equal part oatmeal, favorite seasonings and make into patties as burgers. Also, if you fry with a shredded potato or two, is great with taco/burrito recipes. Cut the vegetable steaks, fry a bit, and use in stew, soup, stir fry. I season everything like some meat dishes and tasty. I’ve never like the tender bits though. Have been vegetarian for 40+ tears.
I’m glad you made this video. I’ve been curious about Loma Linda for a long time but I was scared to try canned “meat”. Now I will definitely try it out. Thank you 🙏
I think I'm underwhelmed by the products and more excited by Amazon having Amazon Pantry🤗. Great video Sarah, thanks for taking one for the team with that Burger in a can lol that didn't look appetizing at all lol.
Omg!!! I grew up on the choplets the franks and the lil chicken nuggets. My grandmother use to bread and fry the choplets and smother them with homemade gravy. TFS!! I had no idea where to get them from!
When I used to buy the can burger I would open the top then poke a hole in the bottom & turn it upside down so the meat would release and come out whole like a loaf. Then I would slice into 6 or so burgers. I would fry each patty with a little crisp which wasn't too bad. Didn't taste like a real burger but I liked it for something different. I've made a long grocery list this morning cause of some of your taste test. Thanks, you're awesome.
Yes!!! I grew up vegetarian and that brand was one of the only ones available (I'm 37)!! I LOVE big franks!! I always get a real craving for them whenever I'm pregnant. I'm not SDA (and never have been) but we used to get them from our local SDA bookstore. Many of them have shut down now...in my research.
I just had Lightlife vegan ravioli yesterday. I highly recommend you try them on a future taste test video😋 I bought the veggie sausage kind and prepared my own vegan alfredo sauce to go with the pasta.
This may be the best youtube channel I have ever seen. You are so genuine and knowledgeable, I have enjoyed EVERY SINGLE one of your videos. I am vegetarian trying to be vegan, so your information and recipes are sooo helpful. Thank you so much
As soon as I read that the vegetarian brand was called Loma Linda I thought it was probably from the SDA :) I'm SDA and although not everyone follows this diet generally speaking we take care of our health.
You can get all of the Loma Linda products at College Market in Angwin if you are in Northern California or the Bay Area. There is a large Adventist population, a college and hospital, just above St. Helena in the Napa Valley.
Sarah, i think Loma Linda brand also makes a deli meat for sandwiches. It sorta looks like bologna, which may or may not turn you off, but I've always loved it. A nuttty bread, mayo, tomatoes slices and avocado....slirp.
I love your taste test videos. There's so many faux meat choices now and most people aren't even aware of them so it's great that you do these videos for us. Thank you! You're awesome!
In California they have these everywhere, Loma Linda University and an SDA academy is located in Loma Linda ca, near Redlands CA, close to Riverside, San Bernardino area, I want to say this company was originated over here.
Ty for doing this. My husband and I are going to be traveling in our RV almost fulltime next year and looking for good vegan options to store when we can’t find locally at the places we travel. Based on your video and final recommendations, I will order some of each of the three. I really appreciate you taking the time and saving us $. The hot dogs will be great to “fit in”with non vegans at cookouts. Please do more!! 💕💕
Literally just set up a Amazon pantry and was looking at the loma linda brand and was wondering what this brand was all about! Awesome review huge help!
The hot dogs contain propylene glycol, which is an additive to antifreeze. While it is considered generally at a safe level in food, concern still arises with the ingestion of it.
These are in Winco which is a larger grocery chain and I have been stearing clear because the packaging always seemed sketchy. I'll definitely have to try now!
One other comment Sarah, Best thing to do with the Big Frank's or Super Links is to grade them up with a cheese grader and mix them up with vegan mayo and mustard to your taste and it's great as a sandwich spread or a pita filling. Love ya.
Wow, taking a trip in the Way-Back Machine: I recall being a very young child unnerved by the tins of Loma Linda analogues on shelves as high as I was, down at the local old-timey health food store my mom would shop at. Tried some of them upon becoming a vegetarian a couple of decades ago; I don't recall which ones, but do recall I didn't buy them again, so my impression of them must have been bad. I'll give them another go if I encounter them. Thanks so much for posting this : )
I grew up on linkettes(like pork), big Frank's(like beef), and tender bits which are supposed to be like chicken nuggets. These have been around for decades, I had them as a kid in the 80s. They haven't changed since then.
loma Linda's great hard to find these days. like vegan pate' Used to go to almost any food store MSC to local n find loma linda, not so for the last15 years. Salisbury stake or swiss stake in the can was my fav
Sarah, consider adding dulse to the skallops when you bread and air fry them for a fishy taste. Loma Linda has been around for decades and was a part of Worthington Foods before they sold the company. Loved to visit the outlet store when it was open in Worthington, Ohio. They made a product called Tuno that was just like crabmeat. Their fake ham called Wham was great too. You're right about the 7th Day Adventists starting the company. They couldn't find vegetarian/vegan foods so they made it themselves. They were the original faux meat manufacturer. My family were involved at one time in new product testing. Not always the best, but still the greatest. They were an industry leader.
Loma Linda is a city super close to where I grew up! Loma Linda university doesn’t serve/sell meat at their food establishments & they also have a really good nutrition/dietetics program. That area is also considered a “blue zone” & a lot of studies on the benefits of a plant-based diet have come from there. It’s super neat stuff! I didn’t know there was a food brand though & I never saw it when I still lived near there 😫 I also didn’t really do the grocery shopping back then. Anywayssss I think I’m going to have to try those hot dogs out
YES I love these taste test videos. I can hang out and eat something and it feels like I have a friend. These seem pretty reasonable in price. For just under 6$ for 8 franks, assuming the shipping was free, that's not even 1$ per frank. Wish my local store carried them.
I had a Field Roast sausage for the first time @ the Eat.Drink.Vegan food festival and I didn't think anything could top it. Now, I have to try this one.
I was on vacation last year and randomly I found those scallops at a teeny tiny grocery store in the North Carolina mountains. You're right, they don't taste like much. But I grilled them and ate them for almost an entire week with different sauces. I've never seen them in any stores here in DC:-(
Just got back from a new market type store in my city with soooooo many vegan products! Had me thinking about your videos 😌 and then you posted one haha
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I'm very familiar with these products and have tried most except for the hotdogs. I can't wrap my mind around hotdogs in a can. Ha, ha, ha. The veggie burger is great for making "meat"loaf. Also, some SDA churches or schools have a store in them in which they sale these products.
Funny, at Amazon Germany they only carry four completely different products from Loma Linda, but they are ridiculously highly prized. They have: Fishless Tuna, Sloppy Joe, 5 Bean Chili and Chorizo. Very mixed reviews though...
I've seen the hot dogs in a can from Loma Linda at Winco! I bought them for my three year old because he's less picky about not dogs than me but was too nervous to try them. I will now! Thanks for testing them! I can't believe you like them, considering they are from a can, haha.
They have a can of "Taco Filling" that I like. Have you tried any of the Caroline's products? The Taco filling is maybe exactly like Loma Linda brand. Caroline's has a "Fishless Tuna" that is too much like Tuna for me! lol
Awesome channel. I was thinking of buying some more of these haha. I found them in a store that I go to sometimes. Of course, with everything going on now, maybe good to stock up. I think i'm getting hungry haha.
I had no idea there were vegan meat substitutes that came in a can! My mind is blown. Thanks for all your great videos! I always learn so much from you.
I love all your videos, Sarah! I hope making videos brings you as much joy as it brings your viewers to watch them. :) P.s. that canned "burger" looked really unappetizing. 🤢🤢🤢 LOL
I might purchase the sausages because I used to make like a mixed rice with the Vienna sausages so that's cool . It even looks like the Vienna ones lol but I might wanna purchase more of their products which is cool too love the video
But to see them receive your careful inspection and general approval validated my childhood in a way I didn't know I needed, haha.
yeah! i was wondering if anyone was going to mention that they were a adventist thing.
Big Franks are life! Growing up Adventist Worthington/Loma Linda was a house hold staple.
neovincci hey y’all! I’m also Adventist and have grown up on these products.. how weird seeing someone doing a review of them calling them “vegan meats off amazon” lol!!
:-)
The cans are really off putting. I was surprised by your positive reviews. Don’t judge a book by its cover
I agree! The cans sketched me out too.
vduback Thought the same too. lol. I'm like eww when I saw them but the reviews, might have to try them.
indeed
i was skeptical too, but when she said how tender they were
i was all in
thx Sarah
Yeah the cans look like they are dated from the 60's haha. Graphics department never seem to bother to update them. But they are surprisingly good. I took a chance and tried it anyways, before this video.

The Beyond Sausages sound good and haven't tried the Beyond Burger yet due to the fact people that reviewed it said it smelled like cat food and don't know if I could stomach that. Be blessed!
Haha the burger does smell like cat food for sure! But I really like it. I will say it's 10x better if you can grill it rather than pan-fry it.
Oh well at least I eat vegan.
c g, I had my first Beyond Burger about 2 weeks ago, it was grilled and was delicious!
BigMad Starr Thank you so much for your comment. It really will help my decision.
You can get vegan kibble for dogs.. mine love it :)
Loma Linda has been around for a long time. Back in the 1970's we had to make our own tofu dogs out of tofu ourselves. I think it was late 70's, maybe 80's when Loma Linda appears in stores here in CT. Our local health food store still carries them to this day. They are very good.
I’m seventh Day Adventist n vegetarian I’ve been eating these products my whole life 🙃
Seventh Day Adventist food is fabulous. FriChik is my favorite food. Haystacks and Special K Loaf are neat too.
You can actually purchase all the Loma Linda products from an Adventist Book Center if you can find one near you! I believe there is one in Denver. :)
Try adding Old Bay Seasoning to the scallops when you bread them. Great video. 👍
Thanks for doing this video! We tried the “scallops” - seasoned more like chicken (covered with bbq, then coated in panko and baked, not bad. I'm a meat eater now but was raised as a Seventh Day Adventist and ate a lot of those Loma Linda hotdogs. Love them.
Loma Linda is an old company. I've bought their stuff at Seventh-Day-Adventist conference center in Denver. :) They make a really good canned taco seasoned vegan meat. And YES to the Just Mayo Thousand Island dressing!!
Loved you thought process on the "scallops Taco's"

Have been vegetarian for 40+ tears.
I will definitely try to repurpose the burger in some patties! Thank you for the recommendations.
Sarah's Vegan Kitchen mix in a bit of flax eggs or corn starch and some water (with the oatmeal, etc) and they make great sliders, too.
You can also mix a bit of stir fry mushrooms and onions and make the burger mixture into a pâté
wow those are amazing recommendations! and good for you for being veggie for so long!
I’m glad you made this video. I’ve been curious about Loma Linda for a long time but I was scared to try canned “meat”. Now I will definitely try it out. Thank you 🙏
Yeah I was scared too! I thought it was going to be gross but I was pleasantly surprised.
Sarah's Vegan Kitchen I just went and ordered some to try for myself. I love Amazon so, why not? Thanks again for the video.
I reduce nori sheets to powder and add it to my breading. Super flavorful for the fish taste.
You are braver than I. Lol Canned "meat" is scary even when vegan. Now, I might give it a try.
I use the "tender bits" as sweet and sour pork, just an idea if you are looking for one
I think I'm underwhelmed by the products and more excited by Amazon having Amazon Pantry🤗. Great video Sarah, thanks for taking one for the team with that Burger in a can lol that didn't look appetizing at all lol.
Yes, the pantry idea is super cool! I just wish it came included into the prime membership.
Sarah's Vegan Kitchen Yeah that would be perfect.
I just love your taste tests sooooo much!!
The tender bits are so good, especially when breaded and fried.
Those are so interesting! I'll definitely have to try more vegan meats, just to see what gems I can find. Thank you for the ideas!
do more reviews! i especially love the mock meat reviews. also i'd love to see some more recipes/cookbook reviews. love your videos :)
Omg!!! I grew up on the choplets the franks and the lil chicken nuggets. My grandmother use to bread and fry the choplets and smother them with homemade gravy. TFS!! I had no idea where to get them from!
PLEASE make recipe videos and you eating them
wow, the skallops were awesome, even my meat eating husband raved about them --breaded, spiced and fried boom
I wondered about the Loma Linda brand, because Loma Linda, CA is the area where the 7th Day Adventists live and is the only Blue Zone in the U.S.
Loma Linda brings back memories of when I was 12, newly veg and buying the vegan hotdogs at the seventh day Adventist church on sundays with my mom.
This video is so satisfying to watch! love your channel
I’m thoroughly shocked that most everything was so good. When I think of canned “meat” I don’t exactly get excited haha. But now I want to try them 😂
yeaaaa more taste tests! i find your voice so nice to listen to haha

This may be the best youtube channel I have ever seen. You are so genuine and knowledgeable, I have enjoyed EVERY SINGLE one of your videos. I am vegetarian trying to be vegan, so your information and recipes are sooo helpful. Thank you so much
I love these reviews! They are so helpful and I take your word on what you think is good and not so good
Those vegan scallops though!! Who knew?! I knew that there are scallop mushrooms and such, but not the seafood alternative! Neat! Have to try it!
Yeah it's crazy how many substitutes are out there these days!
As soon as I read that the vegetarian brand was called Loma Linda I thought it was probably from the SDA :) I'm SDA and although not everyone follows this diet generally speaking we take care of our health.
I'm SDA also, and I think Loma Linda sold their brand to someone else. But I could be mistaken.
Hey!! Fellow SDA here :)
Cool :) Nice to meet you all!
I was born and raised SDA here in DC...these bring me so much joy as they were a household staple growing up!
You were sure to find one of these at potluck after church lol. My favorite is the big franks in corn dogs at camp meetings!
You can get all of the Loma Linda products at College Market in Angwin if you are in Northern California or the Bay Area. There is a large Adventist population, a college and hospital, just above St. Helena in the Napa Valley.
I tried the Beyond Meat Sausage,,, OMG they are freaking awesome, thx for the mention. I like your taste tests, you give realistic description.
The Gardein fish-less filets are fantastic!
The lomalinda hot dogs are my fav. I used to eat these as a treat when I was a kid one in a while!
I’m in norway and can’t really try anything of what you’re trying, but i just love watching your tastetests! Yes to trying other Amazon fake meats!
Linea Bjerke DONT worry. Oumph puts all these to shame.
Sarah, i think Loma Linda brand also makes a deli meat for sandwiches. It sorta looks like bologna, which may or may not turn you off, but I've always loved it. A nuttty bread, mayo, tomatoes slices and avocado....slirp.
always yes to more taste tests! you should try the ‘don lee farms’ burger patties! they sell them at costco!
I'm not a vegan but I love watching Sarah's videos she's so chill and genuine and so informative.
I love your taste test videos. There's so many faux meat choices now and most people aren't even aware of them so it's great that you do these videos for us. Thank you! You're awesome!
I also watched his video and ordered some hotdogs an the tender bits off Amazon! 😊
In California they have these everywhere, Loma Linda University and an SDA academy is located in Loma Linda ca, near Redlands CA, close to Riverside, San Bernardino area, I want to say this company was originated over here.
Subscribed because 1) you have a chill spirit and 2) you like cool people like Josef.
Field roast Frankfurters are awesome! I'm going to try these as soon as I can though.
My favorite videos🙌🏻🙌🏻 your channel is bomb I love how often you post!!
How lucky! I wish I could find these near me.
What section of winco are they in? Hoping mine carries them. I'm in the market for a new go-to dog.
Joel mine are by the tuna on the top shelf
karen dunn thank you!!!
Really? Now I’m super curious if my Winco carries them. I’ll have to go over there and check. Thanks for the tip!!
One other comment Sarah, Best thing to do with the Big Frank's or Super Links is to grade them up with a cheese grader and mix them up with vegan mayo and mustard to your taste and it's great as a sandwich spread or a pita filling. Love ya.
Interesting! That sounds tasty.
Who’s your sheep friend hanging in the background?
Haha I've had him for so long.
Way to dodge the question, Missy! ;) Does he have a name?! I have to know now.
please do more of these!! A lot of my friends don't have Whole Foods or supermarkets that have vegan products but do have amazon prime!!
I've tried most of it esp the hot dog and so good. I loved it. There is a grocery in my state who carry those products.
I'd never take the risk to buy these though I've always been curious! Thanks for sharing as always! Now I know what to try and what to avoid. 💖
Wow, taking a trip in the Way-Back Machine: I recall being a very young child unnerved by the tins of Loma Linda analogues on shelves as high as I was, down at the local old-timey health food store my mom would shop at. I grew up on linkettes(like pork), big Frank's(like beef), and tender bits which are supposed to be like chicken nuggets. These have been around for decades, I had them as a kid in the 80s. They haven't changed since then.
Awesome video as always Sarah! I’ve been meaning to find an actually good vegan hot dog.
Thanks! These did not disappoint. :)
I love using the Loma brand veggie crumble to make black bean burgers :)
loma Linda's great hard to find these days. like vegan pate' Used to go to almost any food store MSC to local n find loma linda, not so for the last15 years. Salisbury stake or swiss stake in the can was my fav
So glad you did this taste test since I've never heard of this brand. I think I'll try some of these.

Not always the best, but still the greatest. They were an industry leader.
try the hotdog straight out the can, thats the best! Been eating then since I was a kid, yuuuuuummm!!
The Loma Linda Choplets are delicious in “Beef” Stroganoff!
Anywayssss I think I’m going to have to try those hot dogs out
Your hair is so boyishly adorable
YES I love these taste test videos. I can hang out and eat something and it feels like I have a friend. These seem pretty reasonable in price. For just under 6$ for 8 franks, assuming the shipping was free, that's not even 1$ per frank. Wish my local store carried them.
The Big Franks are really good...even straight from the can. Perfect chopped in a salad
Anyone who think this food looks gross should take a look at the process for making chicken nuggets, hotdogs, pork, etc.
Redi burger reminds me of corned beef hash ❤️
I just bought 6 packages of Beyond Beef sausages!! Whole Foods cant keep them stocked so when I saw them, I bought them....all of them!!
Funny, at Amazon Germany they only carry four completely different products from Loma Linda, but they are ridiculously highly prized.
They have: Fishless Tuna, Sloppy Joe, 5 Bean Chili and Chorizo.
Very mixed reviews though...
Just has Thousand Island Dressing??? 😍😍😍 i just tried their Caesar dressing and i LOVE it!
Literally just went to the store and bought the Just Thousand Island dressing. 😂 im so happy
You need to try there fry chiks. Eat them with rice or potatoes with the gravy it comes in, so good!
Actually they aren't vegan too!!
I've seen the hot dogs in a can from Loma Linda at Winco! I bought them for my three year old because he's less picky about not dogs than me but was too nervous to try them. I will now! Thanks for testing them! I can't believe you like them, considering they are from a can, haha.
This is so helpful. Specially for hurricane season. 👍💞
Love your taste tests! I keep getting these recommended to me but don't want to bother with the pantry. Maybe if there other wins, I'll give it a go
It's been hard finding affordable vegan alternatives to things I'm used to eating. I'll definitely give these a try if I see them.
I’ve always been curious about those thanks and I’m definitely interested in more videos
Yes! Try some other brands and review
Great taste test review vid!
I had no idea there were vegan meat substitutes that came in a can! My mind is blown. Thanks for all your great videos! I always learn so much from you.
I love all your videos, Sarah! I hope making videos brings you as much joy as it brings your viewers to watch them. :)
P.s. that canned "burger" looked really unappetizing. 🤢🤢🤢 LOL
Loved the goat staring at the camera
I might purchase the sausages because I used to make like a mixed rice with the Vienna sausages so that's cool . It even looks like the Vienna ones lol but I might wanna purchase more of their products which is cool too love the video
