So, we saved up $10,000 and decided we'd give it to someone that would quit their job and pursue their passion. We ended up finding Matthew and Jenny and what ended up happening blew our minds. Most likely nothing or circumstances are worse than they were.
10,000$ is not a lot of money and nowhere near worth quitting a job over (even a shitty low-paying job can produce 3x that annually). It's not even enough to cover a year's tuition in most places or to do anything related to a startup. People who are in bad economic situations are typically there because of bad financial practices, dumping money on them doesn't solve the problem (it can certainly help people who are actually smart with their money, but often doesn't). This is why the bulk of people who win the lottery typically end up broke in a few years or not much better off.

@@camiscrazy0883 10k to live off for five months is great if you have low overhead, next to no additional expenses, and live in an area with fair housing prices. In most city interiors, 60-80% of that "10k over five months" is your rent.

Well, I did this 3 months ago, I quit my job as a programmer to be history student. When I did it, I was at the dark, I really don't know whats was gonna happen to me, I didn't have money to pay the university, to live, but I said to me "I can do it, i don't know now how, but I will do it. I deserve do what I really love". Now, 3 months after, fantastic things happened to me, things I had never imagined, research project, professors support. Money is a problem (I'm studying to be a teacher, and where I live, Brazil, the governament pay nothing to us, public schools...), but I will do it, I don't how, but I will, because I just love

Go to india, it's like 100$/year for our university college ,Just finished graduation and waiting for certificates. I really don't know why developed nations charge so much for education.

According to their instagrams they made it to Bali! They’ve become vegans and from what I can tell it looks like they were working on trying to stay in Bali. They haven’t updated in a while but it looks like they’ve traveled to some other dope places along the way! There’s also a link in his bio for a book so it looks like he finished it !

I just came home from a crappy shift at my job that I've been working at for 6 years and I realized I don't want to do that anymore. I don't want to feel disappointed in my life anymore whenever I go into my job. I think its time to put in my two weeks and start living my own life. Thank you Yes Theory. I mean, that's not really the point of the video. The point is you should believe in yourself and your dreams enough to take the chance when a situation like this comes around. It is not about seeking more, but taking advantage of opportunities as they come.
Well for someone working at Mcdonalds or a coffee shop, it would take half a year to make $10k. So for someone making minimum wage it would be a life changer.

To all of you saying 10k is not enough - I live in Croatia and I earn that amount in 15 months of working my full-time job. For some of us that is a LOT, especially considering the fact that living here is not cheap at all. Good luck to them, they really seem like great people and I really hope they achieve ther dreams!

Also I love how you guys used the video at the end of Jim Carey giving his commencement speech at MUM, it's a very mind openiing speech. Its Actually the university I applied for (my dream school) that I was accepted to, but was unable to attend due to financial reasons. I don't know really what I'm trying to say accept this video was very inspirational. To be honest, I've been binge watching your videos all day, trying to navigate my thoughts on how to transform my life into doing what your doing for others. A few months before my father passed away, he saw me struggling with depression. never said a word to my family about it in fears of letting them down. Almost out of the blue, he came into my room and said "God gives the hardest battles to his strongest warriors." Im not religious and I was annoyed with him at the time, thinking it was religious mumbo jumbo but after my suicide attempt, a little under a year after he passed, I understood.
Whatever it is you're struggling, you're meant to struggle with it. Even to this day I continue to struggle, but im okay with it. Don't let the struggle beat you, youre a fucking warrior.

Thank you for another inspiring video!I never tried a 9-5 but I know it would never be for me so I started my own business. Yes, it's me again! I'm the girl with a cookie shop in my college town. When I started it, I was living in my car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. I just graduated college as well. I started the late night cookie shop out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night. I was living in my car in the parking lot of the shop at the time with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And how we have our first storefront location (a second launching in January!) We started it to fund a year long backpacking trip around the world and to be successful while living the life of our dreams.
Your story is really inspiring. If you ever plan on coming to India then visit Sikkim and hit me up It would be my pleasure to help you guys and show you around .

Sure, but if you really want to pursue a passion, you could go back to living with a budget like a student and save up for 6 to 12 months of basic living expenses or similar, and then quitting by then.

they also sold their cars and got the final payment from their job with that money you can comfortably live in bali or phillipines for 5 months
Man, this is exactly what I need to being able of closing by business, which is not doing very well after Corona anyway, and just fully dedicate my time to my passion, my ikigai. I wish that was me, but they truly deserve it. They both seem like incredible people. I'm happy for them!

But why make them quit their job ? 10000 is probably a small part of their debt in the USA. They still need a income.
Lou Ya because as said in the video, their side job are just there to support them in able to pursue their passion. If you’re given a headstart of 10000, you wouldn’t need to have the side job and go directly in pursuing your passion.

I start my days watching at least 1 Yes Theory video. I find that the message that you guys share is the most beautiful thing out there. In a world where things can get challenging and hard, it is refreshing and inspiring to listen to you guys and to see the impact you have on people with the gesture you do (big or small). I especially find it refreshing to start a day listening to your beautiful message and cry each morning by how touching it is lol. I also constantly bombard my friends with your videos. Yes i am starting a cult lol.
