I met Dylan outside a venue. I was drunk out of my mind and star struck, but knew I'd regret not talking to him. I didn't say I loved his music or anything like that, I just asked him what the biggest animal he could take in a fight was. He entertained me enough, saying "Maybe two raccoons, because I'm not very tough." Anyways, they killed it that night.
@@menasouvlaki3595 So 2 piece bands are jam bands? White stripes, daft punk, tenacious d, beatles, Nirvana, and tons more all were 2 piece bands in the beginning. Also, Earth is a 3 piece. The bassist just wasn’t there for the gig. You’re literally hating on Kurt Cobains closest friend he ever had bro… This band is amazing live. You need to do some research before shouting out “jam band” my dude. Sleep is another 2 piece band that has a 73 minute song. That’s not jamming. That’s insane skill. To memorize such long songs. I used to play 15-20 minute songs in my old band and it was the hardest thing I’ve done musically.
i went to see them a few days ago in portland and when he walked out with that i almost burst out laughing. button down plaid, suspenders, jeans, and what looked like a last minute off the rack guitar center purchase and then they just rip it was hilarious
Yeah you would think he would be playing like vintage boutique guitars and maybe he does and brings a cheapo on the road. It's also the quality of the musicians that really matters
I often find myself playing my cheapest guitar and for some reason it just has some magic the others don't. I'd do a disservice to the song if I didn't play the cheap shit I wrote it on.
The coolest thing about this band is the constant exploration within their chosen aesthetic. There's a universe of difference between this and Extra Capsular Extraction and, honestly, had Carlson hung it up after Earth 2, he'd still get free dinners. When Sunno))) came along and picked up where that LP left off, Carlson was already moving into other corners of the amber colored slo-mo. And it never stopped. I'm particularly big on the raw, guitar / drum config they've been doing in recent years
Had the absolute pleasure to see Earth live in D.C. at the 9:30 Club, opening for Boris. My mom and I met one of the members of the band outside the venue and because I was a little less well-versed in individual musicians I didn't realize at first and she chatted with him and then all of a sudden we're in the place and the dude walks on-stage and my brain does a fuckin skip and I had to process that we just met one of the members of Earth completely out of the blue without me realizing it. Utterly amazing band to hear live. Swear to god that when they played it was like a pressure wave pushing everyone in the audience back a little, and when they stopped playing it was like everyone shifted forward because that pressure was GONE. Brilliant. Great opener for Boris, too, they were on their Pink tour and it was a good way to get acclimated to the heaviness before Boris brought the fucking speed with the eponymous track off Pink. I was a wiry little teenager with a pair of thick frame glasses and earplugs and was afraid of the mosh pit so I left the front of the stage but god what a killer performance.
I would relish in the fact of pissing off my ex (a typical MOR classic rock girl) by playing EARTH's early stuff (guitar and bass) glad to have stumbled upon this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ps. the louder the better !
I saw Earth years ago in Cleveland, OH. It was hands-down the most physical / auditory experience i've ever witnessed. They played a 2.5 hour set and the tempo and volume slowed my heart down so much my knees buckled and had to take a seat.
Saw Dylan do a solo opening for Sleep about 5-6 years ago. Immediately hooked me onto his music and Earth’s discography. Never realized how much they influenced so many artists I love.
I just got done talking to my wife about this. They never cease to amaze me after all of these years. I’m so glad that Dylan is still with us and looks healthy.
Love Earth. Saw them in Cork, Ireland, many years ago when I was in college, didn’t really know much about them at the time, but I’ve since become a big fan. It’s more than doom for me, it’s meditation music. 🤘
I found out about this band through the UA-cam channel Does It Doom? The Bees Made Honey in the Lion’s Skull has quickly become one of my favorite records ever.
Congrats on 3M 🔥🔥🏆🏆🍻🍻🍻🍻. Finding your station a decade ago or so was a very good thing to have happen. Was able to get a private tour around that time too. I played in a band that opened for Earth a long time ago in Nashville at Springwater. I distinctly remember at one point during their set the drummer counted off so slowly on the hi hat that I didn't even realize it was a count off until the rest of the band kicked in. They had a bass player at the time so they were playing as a 3 piece. I like this but I think the bass did help carry the songs a little better and added some more weight and dynamics to the overall sound.

I drove 2 states to see them perform in 2013 at this weird club underneath a highway. Smoked with Dylan and got matching tattoos with him because there was a tattoo shop right there. He signed all my vinyls and literally walked over to me and my friend to play most of the show right in front of us because we were so excited to be there. He’s an awesome guy. No wonder Kurt Cobain loved him. The drummer is really nice too. I’m a drummer myself, so me and her talked for a bit. Overall it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and definitely worth driving 2 states away for a 1 hour gig! I’d do it again anytime. P.S. he even played my favorite song Ouroboros it was siiick

THE BEST ALBUM!
Not only a great album, but one of the most beautiful artworks ever
this band is fucking phenomenal and the drummer is a monster. the control and restraint she maintains is unrivaled
Adrienne is one of the most underrated drummers. This kind of feeling is something that many drummers of heavy music lack!
It has got to be hard to play that style so slow and controlled
Hahaha.
Love her style of rushing the hi-hat a little bit on the backbeats. Brings a really unique impish energy to their sound.
Adrienne is my fave drummer after Sean Kinney
Feel for days!!
I love how the drum hits are just a part of how she is moving; she makes it look like slow motion.
