Huey lewis and the news...SHOULD BE IN THE HALL OF FAME...PERIOD
And leave out all those rappers? Not gonna happen. The ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame has got to have rappers in it 🤷
Huey Lewis & The News is one cool bar band in the '80s and used rock as their main theme in most of their songs. In the '80s, their peak success lasts from 1983 to 1987.
@joshhernandez6974 NO disrespect....(I say this only outta ta the pure ❤ of music....) But that's BULL! ROCK N ROLL existed, way...WAY, WAAAAAAYY, before rap, sweetie 😊
Power of 80s music shall never fade away.
It's always that sax solo ... :)
America did make some things before it went to shit lol
Puts me is such a great mood . We had some good music .
Facts
Nunca, never!
How are these guys not in the Hall of Fame yet? Shameful!
wowe
Fuck the hall of fame.... These guys are part of the sound that made the 80s. Without them it wouldn't have been the same.
Agreed
POWER POP / NEW WAVE ALWAYS GITZ SNUBBED! SHOES SHOULD BE IN THERE TOO. ;)
This whole album has a clear, crisp sound and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that gives the songs on the album a big boost.
I dont get the joke please explain it to me
HEY PAUL!
@@juiceoverflow its an American psycho Reference
Holy shit awesome reference lmaooo
Wtf????? I’m literally watching American psycho for the first time in my life right now…. I’m scared.
Most entertaining concert i ever attended. Ive been to over 150 in my life, and Huey Lewis in Denver in 86 was incredible. There was a electrical problem backstage during the show. While they were fixing it, Huey came out and sat down on the edge of the stage and cracked jokes with the audience. Knock knock jokes, family jokes, jokes about the band and life in general. 15,000 people in Denver's MacNichols arena just having the night of their lives being ENTERTAINED by an Entertainer.
Classy ! 😅❤
Huey Lewis & The News is such an amazing band, there is literally *NO* song from them I don't like.
I know, right?!
Too true
What about "happy to be stuck with you"?
I like that one too!
Hey, they left off Peter Wolf's "Lights Out" on the soundtrack.
Thanks to Huey and the boys for immortalizing Rock & Roll. Released on April 7, 1984, reaching # 6 on June 9.
they were a guaranteed, good time in Detroit
All thanks to sports coming out in 83' too
Only as high as 6?
On June 1984, this song stayed at its peak at #6 for 4 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. It's the second consecutive single in the album Sports to peak at #6 after "I Want A New Drug" and before "If This Is It", both peaked at #6 for 2 weeks. When I compare those 3 #6 hits, this song is the best among the 3 followed by "I Want A New Drug" and "If This Is It".
Huey played for our company meeting some years back. He looked way older but he was as fresh and strong from beginning to end of the evening. He played every one of his hits to perfection. Fun stuff. His band was at least half his age.
This song has aged really well. I guess that makes it a classic.
Agreed!!!!!
GIVE CREDIT WHERE ITS DUE@@adamdorgant9454
Huey Billy Joel, Bryan Adams The List could go on forever The 80's had the best music
True!!!
Man I'd almost forgotten how much fun Huey Lewis music is!
I haven't heard this song in ages! Feels good to hear it again. They don't make music like this anymore. :'(
no doubt Josh
I know Right Josh!!!
I was just thinking the same thing! They don't make music like this anymore
Feel good Rock and Roll
I agree. They need to bring this kind of music back for real.
Just Like The Greg Kihn band says, They Don't Write Em Like That Anymore.
Huey's STILL the man!
there's no way you can't like this foot tappin', sing- along song...Huey Lewis was the epitome of the heart of rock n' roll... good job, Huey.
I met Huey back in the day, & I was featured in the "punk audience" when I was 17 yrs. in this very video.Yeah, that's me dancing in the crowd w/the pink spiky punk rock hair, & leather studded bracelets. Wow! Those were the days! Where did all the good times go? Hahaha!
Gia Genocide?
Damn, you old.
Holy cow how cool I loved this band
Well now your a super star lol
Was Huey Lewis & The News Rockin The Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan in the 1980's?
Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost.
Huh? Are you taking back your compliment?
@@sallymjmj750 It's quoting American Psycho....Christian Bale splits Jared Leto open with a nice and shiny axe after this if I'm not mistaken. Too bad it wasn't real, Blade Runner 2049 could have been just that much better.
@@UberMadSkills Hey, Paul!
Is that a raincoat? Yes it issss!
Hell yeah 2024!!! I remember growing up when this was on the radio brand new In heavy rotation....love the 80's
Arguably the best rock & roll single ever recorded.
yes
Huey Lewis is such a great entertainer. Just love his style
It's 2 bad he lost his hearing. Tour cancelle
@@scottmurphy3934Holy ?#*$! Huey Lewis is deaf??😱
According to someone who should know, God was very kind to Huey, who hitched and busked his way across europe as a young man.
@@scottmurphy3934 What,long-term or temporarily? :-(
Yes, Huey has ear issues... looks to be permament.
Released 40 years ago today (04-10-1984) and still a banger!
It's June 2023, the 70's & 80's had the best music. I'm 74 & still groove'n
Summer of '84, this song was huge, I was enjoying life, looking forward to my senior year in high school. I had no worries back then.
it seems nobody had worries in the 80/90, i was one of these ppl.
I'm 44 and feel no less content now then I was then.
And now life sucks.. Just an observation..
And now you’re old.
4 years before I was born lol
Love the music of Huey Lewis and the News ❤❤🪕🎸❤️🌟❤️🌟❤️🌟❤️🌟❤️🌟❤️🌟
LOVE this song. It came on 1 of the local radio stations last week. Cranked it up, and we all (including my 5 & 7 year old kids) rocked out!
For quite a while. I knew, “the heart of rock of rock and roll was in Cleveland. “ wasn't sure why it was there? But Huey Lewis and the News made it believable.
Huey came up with the lyric after the band played a concert in Cleveland in 1982. The band liked it but asked him to keep working on the hook. Later Huey changed the last two words to "still beating", but kept the original for the ending. Of course. Huey turned out to be right when they opened the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland a year or two later. Now if only Huey and the guys would be inducted, they've been eligible since 2005!
Thanks for the great information 👍@@DrJekyll38
One of the greatest of ALL TIME!!! Love these guys!!!!!!
Huey and the news what a great album ...amongst heavy metal long hair bands ..the news held thier own with great songwriting and hooks ..
The rock and roll 🎸 these days ain’t worth listening to. The 70 80 90 and some of today’s rock music 🎼 is the best.
Honestly this is my favorite song ever
New York, New York, is everything they say
And no place that I'd rather be
Where else can you do a half a million things
All at a quarter to three
When they play their music, ooh that modern music
They like it with a lot of style
But it's still that same old back beat rhythm
That really, really drives 'em wild
They say the heart of rock and roll is still beating
And from what I've seen I believe 'em
Now the old boy may be barely breathing
But the heart of rock and roll, heart of rock and roll is still beating
LA, Hollywood, and the Sunset Strip
Is something everyone should see
Neon lights and the pretty pretty girls
All dressed so scantily
When they play their music
That hard rock music
They like it with a lot of flash
But it's still that same old back beat rhythm
That really, really kicks 'em in the
They say the heart of rock and roll is still beating
And from what I've seen I believe 'em
Now the old boy may be barely breathing
But the heart of rock and roll, heart of rock and roll is still beating
Johnny, aw
DC, San Antone and the Liberty Town, Boston and Baton Rouge
Tulsa, Austin, Oklahoma City, Seattle, San Francisco, too
Everywhere there's music, real live music, bands with a million styles
But It's still that some old rock and roll music
That really, really drives 'em wild
They say the heart of rock and roll is still beating
And from what I've seen I believe 'em
Now the old boy may be barely breathing
But the heart of rock and roll, heart of rock and roll is still beating, yeah
In Cleveland
Detroit
Uh, heart of rock and roll
"Now the Oboe might be barely breathing" you're welcome.
Fred Fairchild I like Honest’s answer better

Hello Karen.....
Great song... one of my favorites!
Always liked his music - every now and then, I`ll go back to it - and quite enjoy it -
As a child, I had always heard the lyrics as "The Heart of Rock and Roll is the Beat."
That wasn't smoke coming out of the car in LA. That was hairspray.
You sure that wasn't a ton of hash burning away?
@@raymondfrye8968 Hair metal bands weren't know for being dope heads.
Lol
Hell year , the old schwarzkopffe strong hold .
Lol
Sports is in my top 20 albums. I met an oboe player just this week and was gagging to tell her it was barely breathing, but held back :)

I can truly relate! Love this video and this track! And like all the R n' R nods they've included from Chuck Berry to Elvis to Buddy etc., etc. You can't not like Huey and the Boys! Dig it!

LISTENING AND LOVING IT1!
0:21 THE BEGINNING IS JUST GODLY
Huey Lewis are and excellent singer with a lot of song and they are still hearing for the eternity🇵🇦
Hey 2019 🖤🖤
I love this song
I have been listening to this song for thirty years and was today years old when I learned the the lyric was not "the heart of rock and roll is in Cleveland" my mind is blown and I don't know if even changes the song at all!
Huey put it together and made it happen, well I gotta ask ya this: Is the heart of rock and roll still beatin?
Great song!!! Huey rocks. So sad to hear he can’t sing anymore 😔
Hey!come in 2020
The daily show brought me here!!! Had to relive it a little bit. 😊
in my teens lovin this tune now 70 still liking it
But how this song came out in 1983, meaning that if you were 19 (oldest teen year) in 1983, you would have been born in 1964 making you 57 this year
Oh yeah I like Huey Lewis and the News
Excelente, década de los ochenta presente y vigente al 2021. Huey maestro !
It really gives you perspective on how much music now is crap when you get an ad for a fifth harmony song before a song like this...
love you huey to bad my generation has very few that care for real music anymore
Not really dude.
Yeah, pretty much pro tunes and autotuned to death. It's all so sterile.
13 and Hueys my fave
Summer of 1984❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ in San Francisco, CA with my MTV
Such a solid band, and such a creepy ending to a video!
A really underutilized staple in the rock scene is definitely the saxophone solo
Sax was big in the 80's, many bands and soloists used it.
One of the many instruments missing in mainstream tunes on the radio lately. Gets worse by the month honestly.
The funny thing is I'm 47 years old I love death metal thrash metal hardcore core but Huey Lewis Louis is one of the great
I got my love for huey lewis and the news from my mom and of course back to the future.

cool song
Light of the 80s
My favourite Huey Lewis song
so smooth, i grew up to this, i love this, where did it all go?
I love the ET heart thing at the end. Huey Lewis was one of my favorite musicians back in the 1980's. I Want a New Drug. Man don't we all still to this day want a new drug? Man shit, I think it will be a long time before we get "one that it should, one that won't make me feel too bad, one that won't make me feel too good." Yeah man Mr. Lewis I totally get you. Rock on.
It's no wonder this was almost NY's theme song in the 80s.
I grew up on Huey lewis and the news. Still listening in 2021. I don't care who don't like it. Lol. In my 30s and still listening.
The man!
75 and loving Huey Lewis
It's amazing. ❤ how many good songs 🎵 thay do ashtabula

Huey is the greatest ever ❤
My favorite Bruce Springsteen song
Put of my teenage years for sure !! Go Huey Lewis & The News !! 😎😎😎
One of the MOST SOULFUL WHITE BOYS ON THE PLANET!! Get better Huey!! Your music is timeless!!
Excelent song Hearth or Rock and Roll 1984. tbe best music of the world.
All my hands are in the air!
I can't believe this song is already 13 years old!
I used to love that they did custom versions of this song for larger regional radio markets, so Huey would shout out to YOUR home town.
Para mí Huey Lewis and The News es mi banda preferida. Y que sigan vigentes 👍
The song, album, and group that gave rock and roll a shot in the arm in the 1980s.
We grew up listening to Huey.
This rocks with the best of them
Forty years ago, Huey Lewis & The News was the Heart Of Rock & Roll! This song truly rocked the rock genre back then!
This album came out September 15th 1983 I was born on the 17th I never figured out why I listened to this album on cassette in the late 80s I have it on vinyl now
1:52 - guy clapping on beats 1 and 3. #rolleyes
But otherwise, a great video for a great song!
+totophi Kind of ironic, given the theme of the song.
+totophi He's one of them ODD GUY EXTRA's!!!
+totophi Steve Martin (Navin Johnson) couldn't show up that day, so he was the replacement.
love you Huey, John and guys xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Yes we do, in Detroit..,
