  • Mexican artist Stefan Brüggemann has created red, white and blue neon lights of the words truth and lie for an artwork unveiled on the US-Mexico border on the day of the 2020 US presidential election.
Featuring the colours of the American flag, Brüggemann's artwork was unveiled to coincide with the US presidential election, which is scheduled today.
The artist, who is based in Mexico and London, created the words lie and truth because he wanted to show the notion of these words have "lost meaning" in political campaigns leading up to the event.
"I came up with the idea of the installation after observing and absorbing how so many of the political narratives in the world in these last few years have brought truth and lies into question, and shifted their meaning," Brüggemann told Dezeen.

If Nationalism is so abhorrent then why is it Mexicans who illegally cross over the border tend to wave a Mexican flag and insist we respect Mexico a nation that's own President is afraid of the Cartels who run so many cities? BTW quoting a man who was against fighting the Nazi's like Orwell is indicative of a false mindset. Let us then look at the quotes you could have used instead. “A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.”
― Ronald Reagan "Nationalism is blamed for this century's wars, but nationalism need not mean militarism. And the nation-state has been the laboratory of liberty." ― George Will "All of nationalism can be understood as a kind of collective narcissism. " Geoff Mulgan
So when you live in a nation that has some of the strictest rules for immigration as Mexico does and you attempt to insult a nation that your own people illegally try to flock to despite no war, no political unrest that would allow legal refugees to do so, just because we built a nation of wealth while your people squandered their nation's resources, you appear jaded and foolish to anyone with intelligence.

Thank you for your opinion, General Ripper. Keep those precious bodily fluids pure.
Also, I did not know that every single Mexican immigrant insisted we respect Mexico and arrived with a Mexican flag in their arms. I could have sworn most of them were just trying to, you know, flee murderous violence that we created by interfering in Latin American politics for the last 150 years, and fighting a quixotic and futile drug war for the last 40.
Huh, you learn something new every day. Well, some of us do. To be fair, people said things about my Italian immigrants that were nearly as goddamn stupid as what you're saying about Mexican-Americans. (You... do know that most of the places they immigrate to belonged to Mexico before we fought a totally pointless colonial war against them, right? So much for "need not mean militarism.")

@@NB-gu9rs How sad so many of them seem to flee, without their families, instead of finding jobs and sending money back to Mexico making such remittances one of Mexico's biggest income generators.
Your Italian ancestors, just like my wife's Italian ancestors and my European and Argentinean ancestors all came to the United States through LEGAL channels and sought to become fine upstanding American citizens. Unfortunately, that is not true for the many Gang members, rapists, and other criminals who cross the border from Mexico to the U.S. daily looking for new victims to fleece. Nor is it true for the other Mexicans who only come to the U.S. to get higher-paying jobs which deprives a citizen of that ability.
The costs of illegal immigration are staggering and run into the billions. So each time you pay State taxes or Federal taxes know where your money is going. Learn the cost in both money and victims of what you attempt to speak about and try not to insult someone who is only informing you about things you seem to not yet know.
I have been a Federal Law Enforcement Officer working with DHS for over a decade and stationed in Texas where I see the cost in victims firsthand on a regular basis. So pardon me if I attempt to educate you rather than insult you.
