It reached 103 here in St. Louis the day before yesterday with a heat factor of 106. Kathy & I kept our curtains and blinds closed all day with the AC set at 75, and we were comfortable. We have a new Lennox high-efficiency AC unit we put in only recently, and it does a great job with electric bills that rarely go over $100. One more of the many benefits about being retired is not having to venture out every day in this weather. Summer is, and always has been, my very least favorite time of the year. When I was working, I took vacations only in the fall, and during the Xmas holidays. Try to keep cool!!! I especially have to avoid the heat in view of my health issues and the medications I am taking. Kathy & I are very pleased to see that you are doing so well after your surgery!!! Keep up the good work!!! BTW, that bird nest in your BBQ grill is likely that of a Carolina wren. We had a family of wrens in our BBQ grill years ago when I was a kid. We left it alone and did all our grilling on a portable grill we also had. Those birds are fun to watch!!!
Thanks for sharing Bill. We ventured out to grocery shop but we too have stayed in. Thank goodness for UA-cam lol 😆 we are very thankful for air conditioning. tall take care 🙂
@@pwalpar We have been using delivery lately for most of our groceries, as well as most of our goods and services we purchase so to avoid going out in the heat. Thank God for online shopping, such as Amazon, etc. Television is also a wonderful invention, since the "best seat in the house" is our 4K big screen TV in our air-conditioned living room with food and beverages as close as our kitchen, and restrooms as close as the bathroom down the hall. It sure beats attending events in person and being jostled by crowds, looking for parking, paying highway robbery for admission, tickets, etc., and that notorious long walk from your car to the event. Also, food and beverages command highway robbery prices, and pick pockets are everywhere. Furthermore, downtown St. Louis has earned a bad reputation for crime in recent years. No thanks--we stay home and watch events, celebrations, parades, etc., on TV.
I'm lookin at your 6-26 video and my weather map says north georgia is getting rain and south georgia is going to get hammered with a bunch of little T-storms but middle not so much ifn you want more I'll pray ya in some more, I been praying for Iowa and Nebraska and they's doin fair missed minnesota powerful sorry I didn't see that busted dam in time mita been able to save it, I had no idea minnesota was havin problems with flooding till yesterday. Pipelines we need huge pipelines , we all know the big rivers flood . Why not build stand by pipelines from Iowa and minnesota run them to Idaho, could run them to a desert and reclaim farmland go all the way to California, if Trump wants to help improve every ones chances then CCC camps building flood control pipelines, no piddling pipes 20 and 30 footers be no worse eyesore than giant turbines and massive solar farms.
Thanks the Temps a bit milder today
Rain missed us so far. Have a nice 4th of July
We have have had a few hot days here in Arkansas but overall not to bad. Right here it was getting dry but we got 1.5 inches of rain and high in the upper 80's. Supposed to be more rain chances the next few days and temps up and down in the 90's. So more or less about a normal summer.
Thanks John 😊 Have A nice 4th of July
Walter, it is hot and dry in my neck of the woods. The humidity makes it feel hotter than the thermometer indicates it is. The hottest temperature I experienced was 115 degrees in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stay inside and stay cool with your ac running. That is what my wife and I are doing.
Thanks we are running our air full blast lol
It has been hot here in Iowa also in the 90's but has cooled down to around 78 degrees today and it's supposed to rain. We are out of the drought now with all the storms we have had here in Iowa. Up in northern iowa it has been flooding bad. Couple days ago southern and eastern iowa had some funnels and tornados. Have managed to stay on the edge of it all. I saw on my computer weather page it was supposed to be 98 degrees for you today Walter. Whew! That is some pretty miserable temperatures and no rain coming for you. The hottest temperature I have ever experienced was 105 degrees. Luckily I had air conditioning. I stepped outside the house to see what it felt like ...... and yes wow it was hot. The yard crunched as I walked across it. Mostly all grass and plants were dead but the weeds kept growing. LOL! In the local newspaper it showed a picture of an outside lantern style night light had melted because it was all plastic. Your metal flower watering can looks really old. My folks had one that looked similar to that. And yes here in Iowa we have several lightning bugs. When I was a kid I would capture them in a jar and sit them by my bed and watch them as I went to sleep. There is an old saying that if the lightning bugs are flying high that means no rain coming, but if they are flying low it means that rain is coming. I sure hope and pray you folks get relief from the heat soon. Hope you and Mary are staying cool and you get some rain soon. 🌧
Thanks for sharing Joyce 👍 y'all sure have had an abundance of bad weather so far. Let's hope for better Weather for us all. Take care stay cool and dry. My water can I purchased from A hardware supply some 15 years ago
It's not an antique. I use it a lot.
Super hot here in southeastern Illinois, as well.
Stay Cool my friend 😎
It's been hot here in NW Oklahoma, hitting a hundred for a few days now. A little early for this time of year but it is what it is. 27 kWh used yesterday keeping my dog and me cooled down. Sure is good to see you doing so well after your surgery.
Thanks 😊 I am very grateful to be doing so well my friend d. Stay 😎
It is getting dry here . I would not have thought it with all the rain we got earlier.
112 was the hottest it has gotten here in Aug 2011
That's hot 🔥 alright. Stay cool Lloyd 😎
Cool
Sittin out here this time of year, would make you think your tinnitus was gettin real bad , then ifn you was nappin you mite feel like you was floatin away when in reality the skeeters wasa makinoff with ya, then you'd hafta holler at maw ta bring ya the shot gun so's to take care of those yooper skeeters from the UP , theys big as dogs. LOLLOL.
Thanks 😊 I have tinnitus quite a good many years now. Wouldn't know how to act if it went away 🙃
@@pwalpar I meant to say the Skeeters up hear use your tinnitus as camouflage, they figger since your old you have it and they can carry you away LOL.. Yeah mine was self inflicted shooting hi power 50 cal rifles with no hearing protection, oh well.
Nice Navy photos. 🙂 I've got the ones my daddy took when he was in the Navy, stationed in Occupied Japan. -- I don't know the hottest I've ever been. Maybe 110. I grew up in Macon plus we spent 10 years in Vidalia, so we saw some hot days a-plenty. But I prefer heat to cold.
Thanks Lynn I certainly dislike cold more as well.
Stay 😎 cool
It's been hot and humid up here for 2-3 weeks. Not much rain to speak of and it's going to continue that way for a good while with small chances of rain. I wish they would issue a ban on fireworks until this drought is over..
Thanks Mike We had a small miracle today it rained a while this evening
