Yay!. A tutorial that actually provides the dimensions. I have watched many in frustration not knowing how long to make these. I have watched hundreds of tutorials and this one is excellent. Brilliant close up camera work.
Thank you SO much for this detailed and easy to follow tutorial! I was able to make one of these and it turned out pretty perfect on the first try. For reference I learned how to crotchet 2 months ago! It took me about 4 hours to make one of these. I plan on making 3 more for Christmas presents for my family ☺️
@katchav7941 Hi, I'm very new at crochet as well, just one month, and so far, I practised the single, half double and double crochet. Did you find the pattern of this video, easy to follow? Thanks a lot.
This is my first time crocheting the start stitch. The first row was hard, especially with the dark green yarn. The second row of start was much easier. By the third row, I was an expert. You are a good teacher. Thanks. I love the way it came out.
I made this in Red Heart multiple color yarn called " Aspen Print " and a 5.5 mm hook. I increased the chain to 99. {48 Star stitches)Turned out really pretty! Thank you for posting this pattern and video!!
Beautiful!!!!!! This was sooooo easy to make even with 2 small children crying and screaming all day lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!!!! When I finally get some quiet time I will be making another in a different color......Thanks for the pattern.....I will post after I go to store today to get buttons
This is one of the best crochet tutorials I have watched and I have watched hundreds. You have a calming and clear voice. You give clear and precise instructions. Thank you! I am a former teacher and get annoyed with some presenters who are not clear in their presentations! You are excellent! I plan to make several of these stylish cowls as Christmas gifts. I cannot thank you enough for this video! Thanks, Rhonda
Oh, wow! That is quite the compliment! I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and leave a comment! Also, love to hear you'll be giving them as gifts to make people happy. That makes me feel wonderful! Thank you so much! ^-^
This is a fantastic tutorial! I love how you take the time to explain thoroughly and also you can see your work clearly (nice close up!). My scarf came out beautifully! I’m making my second one now. Thank you!! 🌹
I would just like to thank you for this pattern it has been a great gift for friends and family and makes up very fast. I add two different colours and the results are lovely 👍
I haven't crocheted for at least 50 years, but this video has inspired me to go buy the supplies next pay day. Would make great Christmas gift even though it is Summer here in South Australia. Thank you x
I love the name of this too…you really made it easy to understand everything you were doing. I’m going to make one for my daughter-in-law…thank you so much?
Nicely done! I’m definitely going to try this! (I’m left handed but learned to crochet with my hands over my grandma’s hands 😊) I do hold the hook in my right hand- But over the top- it’s very clumsy- not lovely and smooth like your technique! Your explanations are so excellent, I know I can follow them to the end. Thanks so much!! (Your design is lovely too!)
You really are a pretty good demonstrator. Awesome job. And my cowl came out perfectly. I did have to speed up your voice though lol but others seem to like your very slow speech so it's all good ;)
Your pattern is very nice and the close-up photography is great. Most of the time I could understand your speaking instructions pretty good, but at times it was getting too soft and not clearly speaking, BUT for your first tutorial....ALL GOOD. I must have picked a yarn that was too thick or my tension was too tight. I used size 10 hook and some kind of thick Lion Brand (?) yarn. I was hoping for a softer more flexible piece that lays easily around the neck . Mine seems stiff and tight. I will try again since I think I have it down. It's nice to be able to watch a tutorial. Thanks for al the time and effort you put into it. Lighting was very good, too.
having such a hard time... pulled out twice after at least 4-5 rows done. I cant get it to stay flat? i adjusted my tension but dont know what else to do HELP Please
Thank you so much I love it you are a great teacher I don't hit the bell after I subscribed so I was not getting notifications I thought this was your first tutorial when I looked I seen you had a few more I made sure to hit the bell so I'll know when you have something new for us you are really helping me thank you for sharing your talents with us
This is so lovely!! 💜 ive been looking for a nice pattern like this for a while. Any chance you have a printable version? I do like to look at the pattern as i go. Thank you!!!
I would really like to make this out of Llama wool/yarn. Would it be very soft, or difficult to do?? I know it would cost $$, but how great it would be!
Thank you! To increase the size, add as many chains as you need to make it longer. But make sure you chain an odd number. I'd add at least 10 more for a larger size, making it 85 chains.
Very clear - thank you. I am definitely going to try this but with wool which isn’t so thick and thinner crochet hook. Can this be knitted with a pattern from you?
Thank you for the great pattern. It only took me about 2 hours to make and I’ve only been crocheting for a couple of months. I put the video on 1.5x speed because there’s a lot of gaps and you speak very slowly.
Glad you like the pattern. It was my first tutorial and I'm very shy. Also, I'm still trying to find a balance so people don't get bored if I'm going too slow or frustrated if I'm going too fast. Thank you for your feedback! :)
I’ve watched this over and over and tried making it 5 times now. I’m doing it very loosely and still there’s no way a 1” button is going to go through the eye of the star stitch. So frustrated.
The button doesn't go through the eye of the star stitch. It goes in the space next to it at the end of the star stitch rows. Between the border and the last star stitch. :)
Technically, yes. It will just be looser and the holes will be more visible, making it not as warm. That being said, I have never tried just a single strand of worsted weight (size 4) yarn. I'm guessing it'll be a more lacy effect. If you want to use one strand and want it to be warmer, I'd use a smaller hook and add more chains until you reach the 29" length. And you'll probably also have to do more repeats of rows 2-5 to reach the 7" (including the border). Hopefully that helps. :)
Would it be ok to add that last chain on your first row of star stitches to the last star stitch instead of doing a half double crochet? Or would that make something turn out wrong somewhere along the way?
Some of your instruction is way too fast. Specifically, when you start the third row with a double crochet. I have watched it several times and still don't get it.
Schade….. das sieht so toll aus, leider kann ich nur abschauen ….. kann nur deutsch 😩😩😩 ist aber schön langsam gezeigt, vielleicht bekomme ich es ja trotzdem hin 🙏💪
This fits my nine-year-old sister just fine. :) To make it smaller, decrease the amount of chains in the beginning. Just make sure to end up with an odd number of chains.
I love this pattern, so beautiful with the Lion Brand Landscapes yarn. I made longer and wider given the yarn is not as thick. On my second one. Love your tutorial video also, so easy to follow. Please make more!
Just nerves from it being my first tutorial for a patten I designed. If the video is too slow for you, I have links to the written version in the description under the video. :)
Me, me, meeee!!!! Go make your own video if you don't like the way it was done! Or ask for your money back! Oh wait..... this is information that you are using that's FREE! Yet you complain it's not fast enough! Pathetic!!
Warning: this pattern is super addictive and you might not be able to do anything else until you finish it. 😂 ❤ Love this one.
Finished in one rainy afternoon!
Yay!. A tutorial that actually provides the dimensions. I have watched many in frustration not knowing how long to make these. I have watched hundreds of tutorials and this one is excellent. Brilliant close up camera work.
Thank you! I try to provide as much info as possible, and make tutorials that I would find easy to follow. :)
Please can you tell me the measurements....
Agree!!

I LOVE how close you get to your work!! Thank you! This is a great stitch!!
Great pattern. And great video. And you did a wonderful job explaining everything. Thank you.
Thank you! :)
Hey I have made this a couple of times now and it's a beautiful pattern thank you x
I’m half way through making this and it’s lovely! I used cream for the star stitch and a burnt orange color for the DC and FPHC. It’s looking good!
Sounds beautiful!
I have a way to go! I don't even know what FPHC is! I'll google it! Would like to be able to see your finished product with the extra color.
i just made this for my mom for christmas!! thanks so much for the fantastic tutorial.
You're welcome! That is so awesome! I hope she loves it! :)
The video was easy to follow. I do not have a big neck and this is very tight on my neck.
Appreciate ur detailed explanation. Fantastic! I cant wait to try🧶👍
I'm so glad to hear it was easy to follow! 🥰
Thank you for putting the measurments in the description.
No problem! :) I know it's a little frustrating when people don't say what the measurements are in tutorials.
You did a fantastic job and I can’t wait to make it! You explained every row very clearly!
Thank you! ^-^
beautiful job❤
So cute and simple! Can’t wait to try!
beautiful cowl brilliant clear video really enjoyed making this thank you so much

Super easy 👌.....next in list of my projects
I made it... I love it!! Thank you!!!! Great tutorial!

LOVE IT 😍
I just finished mine and its too short. I guess I will start over. i was so excited to have finished. Enjoyable tutorial thanks !
You can make it longer by adding more chains in the beginning. Just make sure it's an odd number. :)
Couldn’t you just add more rows?
Made this today. Such an easy to follow tutorial. Thank you for sharing.
having such a hard time... pulled out twice after at least 4-5 rows done. I cant get it to stay flat? i adjusted my tension but dont know what else to do HELP Please
Check your hook size vs your yarn weight...
Beautiful cowl. Thank you.

Hey i loved the design! Good work. Can boys use it?
Anyone can, yes! :)
Wow... What measurement should i take for adult man?
Thank you
I would really like to make this out of Llama wool/yarn. Would it be very soft, or difficult to do?? I know it would cost $$, but how great it would be!
I love your work, how many. chains would for an adult large please * thnx
Thank you! To increase the size, add as many chains as you need to make it longer. But make sure you chain an odd number. I'd add at least 10 more for a larger size, making it 85 chains.
Hello I just found your videos love them I'm a new subscriber. Take care
Aww, thank you! Welcome! :)
Thank you for this lovely pattern, do you have a written version?
There will be. I am currently working on it. I just have to add some pictures to it and look over it again to make sure everything is right. :)

Very clear - thank you. I am definitely going to try this but with wool which isn’t so thick and thinner crochet hook. Can this be knitted with a pattern from you?
There were no buttonholes, so I had a hard time squeezing the button through a space. Other than that easy to follow tutorial.
Thank you for the great pattern. It only took me about 2 hours to make and I’ve only been crocheting for a couple of months.
I put the video on 1.5x speed because there’s a lot of gaps and you speak very slowly.

The measurement of this cowl for what age?
Esta hermosísima. GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR!!! SALUDOS DESDE MAZATLÁN, SINALOA
What brand of hook is this? I like the pointed head.
Susan Bates :)
Thank you so much💐💐🌹
Buena tarde la saludo desde colombia me puede decir cuanto de ancho tiene y de largo muchas gracias cuanta lana se le fue
Do you have to use bulky yarn or two none bulky yarns, like can I just use a single strand from a none bulky yarn skein to make this
Technically, yes. It will just be looser and the holes will be more visible, making it not as warm. That being said, I have never tried just a single strand of worsted weight (size 4) yarn. How many chains for a 8year old
hello - lovely pattern! how much wool do i need?
Less than 3 ball’s of super chunky yarn or less than a ball of “2 strands of #4 weight” held together.
Could you do this tutorial it’s trending Ariana grande pink sweater
Would it be ok to add that last chain on your first row of star stitches to the last star stitch instead of doing a half double crochet? Or would that make something turn out wrong somewhere along the way?
I'm not sure. I haven't tried that.
Belíssimaaa
Hi. Is this cowl suitable for men?
Yes. :)
Please... Can you share the measurements?
Is there a pattern. I looked on raverly. It's not there..
Not yet, but I am working on typing one up. I will put a link in the description when it's up. :)
#QSC Love it!!
Thank you.
Some of your instruction is way too fast. Specifically, when you start the third row with a double crochet. I have watched it several times and still don't get it.
have you got a written patter for this.?
