Music must be distinguished and differentiated. At this point, the different genres/styles of "Dark Alternative Music" are differents and not fail into the same label..

As you can hear from this track, Budgie was a really good drummer, keeping the set tight & together, which, of course gave the other band members the creative freedom. Same here, there's not many really good cover versions in my opinion but this one isn't too bad. I know it's a Beatles song and I can see where Oasis got their inspiration for Wonderwall from. I can count on one hand how many good cover versions there has been. The Beat's version of "Tears Of A Clown", The Jam's "Move On Up" , Japan's "I Second That Emotion" and No Doubt's "It's My Life" for me are the only decent cover versions. There are some songs though that artists have covered and totally ruined but I won't go into that, needless to say that the vast majority of them are Boy Bands. Songs like Cantonese Boy, Life In Tokyo, Quiet Life,Visions Of China,European Son,Nightporter,All Tomorrow's Parties and of course Ghosts and I Second That Emotion never got the recognition they deserved. Also the album Tin Drum which is my personal favourite hasn't got a weak track on it. Not forgetting the brilliant "Forbidden Colours" David Sylvian did with Sakamoto. Underneath all that heavy goth make-up, Siouxsie is an incredibly attractive woman. This is one of the best cover versions of a Beatles song ever as well.

Siouxsie And The Banshees achieved the incredibly rare feat of doing a Beatles cover that is just as good as (if not better than) the original. Stunningly gorgeous. You could be Punk, Goth, and Psych at the same time and be uber cool. Robert Smith's guitar sparkles. What if Robert had broken up The Cure and stayed as a permanent Banshee? It blows the mind to speculate.
I knew some guys that had a goth band in the 80's. They named themselves Dear Prudence after this.. They didnt like when i told them they'd picked a Beatles song for their band name.. 😅 Also, i was shocked to see Robert Smith in this back in the day.. Even though I had read he was in the Banshees for a while.. 😊 Later on i got the live album he was on. So got used to it.. 😊
Unfortunately, his health declined during this time, and the final straw came when he returned to London from Berlin, Germany in late May 1984, and his doctor (whom he'd last seen at age 18) was shocked at his present condition and thus said to him "Whatever it is you're doing, you'll have to stop" but Robert refused because he wanted to tour Holland with The Cure, so his doctor wrote a note to him (Robert) explaining his (Robert's) condition, that Robert in turn gave to Siouxsie & the Banshees' manager Dave Woods, which read (among other things): "This man cannot walk, let alone tour." After reading the note, Siouxsie was furious and said "How come you can do The Cure tour, but not The Banshees tour?" Note to Robert: you should have seen your doctor more often!

Bands doing Beatles covers generally just doesn't work. This is the real exception, this is the best. It's part Beatles/part Banshees and it's great.

Siouxsie And The Banshees achieved the incredibly rare feat of doing a Beatles cover that is just as good as (if not better than) the original. Stunningly gorgeous. You could be Punk, Goth, and Psych at the same time and be uber cool. Robert Smith's guitar sparkles. What if Robert had broken up The Cure and stayed as a permanent Banshee? It blows the mind to speculate.
I knew some guys that had a goth band in the 80's. They named themselves Dear Prudence after this.. They didnt like when i told them they'd picked a Beatles song for their band name.. 😅
Also, i was shocked to see Robert Smith in this back in the day.. Even though I had read he was in the Banshees for a while.. 😊 Later on i got the live album he was on. So got used to it.. 😊

Unfortunately, his health declined during this time, and the final straw came when he returned to London from Berlin, Germany in late May 1984, and his doctor (whom he'd last seen at age 18) was shocked at his present condition and thus said to him "Whatever it is you're doing, you'll have to stop" but Robert refused because he wanted to tour Holland with The Cure, so his doctor wrote a note to him (Robert) explaining his (Robert's) condition, that Robert in turn gave to Siouxsie & the Banshees' manager Dave Woods, which read (among other things): "This man cannot walk, let alone tour." After reading the note, Siouxsie was furious and said "How come you can do The Cure tour, but not The Banshees tour?"
Note to Robert: you should have seen your doctor more often!
