It felt like 4 was doing a lot better at storyboarding, especially with it's use of portals. 3.5 tended to just be more rambling, while 4 seemed to use portals for a variety of story reasons (actual travel, time skipping, etc.) and was slightly more coherent.
4 sounded like it was actually setting up a bit with the cheese and dragon egg like Rick just wanted to make a trans-dimensional cheese omelette. Love it
It really started out trying to setup a plot on the second one too. Morty keeps talking about how great The Rock is so Rick wants to take him to meet him to show he's not that great, using a plot device central to the show It seems like a inflection point will be when a model figures out dramatic irony. They get there and Morty hates him but Rick becomes enamored with him
I thought 4 did a better job of using the scene transitions to skip time. like the last prompt where rick says he's gonna take care of it then they transition and the script continues as if something off camera happened. I think given a wider scene selection 4 will be more creative with the limited selection of scenes. also another point to 4 is it used varying names for dwayne "the rock" johnson because it could comprehend that "the rock" and Dwayne "the rock" johnson were the same thing. where as in 3.5 it only ever used dwayne "the rock" johnson.
3.5 does sometime use abbreviations or variations of the names but not as often, probably both to remember and to not get it self confused on iterations down the line when it starts to forget if The Rock and Dwayne are two different things
Have you considered a layered approach to the generation? i.e First prompt: "Come up with the plot for a fictitious Rick & Morty episode. Incorporate plot devices and twists that are similar to existing episodes, but unique. Divide the plot into 10 scenes and number them" Then take each scene and create 10 new prompts from that: eg "Come up with believable dialog and perform the role of a stage director for the following hypothetical scene from a Rick and Morty episode." [your prompts for formatting etc] then the description of a scene from the first prompt. That way the development of plot etc will be separated and allow finer tuning of nuts & bolts of the response -> animation section. This is some entertaining stuff, keen to see more!
More iterations to develop or discard plot elements before going to the actual script are helpful, too. Have GPT look for "errors" and suggest improvements to the plot, let it rewrite it according to that analysis in the next step, and send that to the "scriptwriter" in a third step. It also helps to tell GPT at each step that it's an expert at doing that step specifically.
4 definitely has a better grasp and understanding of time and space, whereas 3.5 has somewhat better scripting capabilities, as in it feels less limited and goes a bit more wild in my opinion So all in all, I believe that if this were to expand in scope (as in more locations, more characters etc.), 4 will start getting the edge over 3.5 in terms of narrative storytelling
Yeah it was kinda weird how they just go to the yard and go "oh i guess dragons don't exist", after Rick just said he could make a portal to the dragon dimension.
I liked how wholesome the GPT 3.5 "Morty joins a gang" episode was! The part where Rick reassures Morty that he doesn't need a gang to feel important, and the part in 4.0 where it implied Rick probably killed or injured the gang members, are so in character!
3,5 was 90x times better on dwayne the rock johnson. Simply because it created this whole insecurity type of thing where morty was beating around the bush of it and i actually went back to look at the prompt, and it had nothing of the sort in it. I thought that was so much more engaging, and rick having invented this device to go to your crush and how rick said that morty's history had been on dwayne the rock stuff. I felt really engaged with the story here.
Bro it's 4:39 in the morning for me I could not sleep at all throughout the night and then as soon as i just started to drift off I got the notification and had the same reaction
It would be cool if the AI had the ability to change the camera location, so it could make different shots, like a video game cutscene or something, which would feel more like the show I think. Adding a toon shader with outlines to the characters would also help I reckon.
I think it’s interesting how gpt3’s dialogue in the first dragon scene was soooo much better than it’s second dragon one. Also the 4th had morty be affirmative/positive toward the subject it was given every time
I feel like the 3.5 was more chaotic. Sometimes the transitions didn't make sense. On the other hand, it had some pretty nice ideas. The 4 on the other hand was a lot more coherent, but it lacked that little bit of chaos, to make the story interesting. To me, it would make sense to incorporate more characters etc. into the story playground. Then I think the coherentness of 4 would be much more visible.
3.5 definitely gives off more of a traditional Rick and Morty vibe that is closer to the actual show. 4 just sounds like two normal people having a conversation
I like GPT4 generally but it like to take them to a lot of places so it could do with a few more backdrops, even just like a generic house interior would make things a bit more coherent
3 and 4 dont seem much different. The burping needs to be not every line? Absolutely fascinating project and i hope you dont have any backlash type problems. Super smart stuff matey 👍🤟
This is a really cool concept. Even though it’s pretty jank in its current state, the proof of concept for this feels really revolutionary. And yeah, if chat gpt can notate the name of the scene in the script whenever the scene changes, and if you can feed it in advance with a list of available scenes it can use, I can see a lot of potential
I think 4 seemed better but I can't quite put my finger on why, also if you could reduce the burping from 2 burps per line to 1 burp per 2 lines or smth I think that would be great.
Oh yeah, so you suggested ai worlds. Thats would add so much detail into the stories. Definitely a requirement if you really want this project to be top tier
Looks like the AI is trying to make Morty walk around in a circle as if he's holding his hands to his head shocked walking around the room, you should add tags for this like so he walks more slowly till the text is almost over or even chain and make it smooth. Also make the head gesture like idk make it something a bit more than just a chat GPT toy thingy, I'd be cool
Rick's voice is mostly there, but the trembling variance if Mortys voice just doesn't seem to work. The dragon stories where probably the best, with the gpt 4 cheese plot probably being the most rick and morty.
I just love the random Jerry in the background and thinking of having him at locations like The Rock's house, just hanging around, in the background in the episodes is pretty funny. Imo 4 was overall better, except for the burping. In that regard I like 3.5 better, but the burping should be used less often. Awesome Video
it be nice to have a progress bar on the different episodes since I just woke up from forklifting all night and ain't yet awake enough to have any focus back I'd just be like wait is this the same episode about dragons or a different episode about how morty wants to suckle off the rock's teet
It would be so cool if you would add different models and actions to words so if they say it anytime something happens. Although it would be a lot of work😂
honestly i didn't really notice much of a difference between the two. Some stories captured the characterdinamics better than others, but it wasn't consistent between 3.5 and 4 in that regard. I dunno, i guess i preferred 3.5 slightly more, but really not sure.
Love whole idea. Although, maybe let them start speaking even while they're still moving around the room? Those tragic pauses are a bit weird. Great stuff! (Also I think gpt4 is a little more creative)
I really feel that 3.5 is much better at writing the dialogue. Morty occasionally standing up to Rick for example or being embarrassed he has a crush on Dwayne is very authentic to the show, unlike 4 where Morty seems to follow the prompt in a much more straight forward and sometimes less believable way. 4 however seems to be better at consistency. That same rigidness feels as though it helps keep the story on track, and has better situational awareness. I personally prefer 3.5 just a little more so far because imo that dialogue is what makes it feel like Rick and Morty. However, I think that giving 3.5 and 4 some more scenes to work with would probably let 4 shine some more, and allow for a much better comparison. I wouldn't be surprised if 3.5 went off on a tangent right away if it was given more scenes to work with.
0.5 of a difference is terrifying and also, apparently, the key to knowing the term 'quantum' . Seems like our only defense is to become jerries as he was in all but not referred to once!
Rick's voice is pretty spot on, although I think he needs to take some industrial strength antacids or cut down on the cheese. Oh also ChatGPT4 seems to "get" the characters more. The GPT4 dragon egg one was more fitting compared to GPT3. And not that it's much of a comparison all of these scripts were 100% better than any episode of The Simpsons from the past 20 years. Actually... reskin this to be The Simpsons, run it on UA-cam 24 hours a day and we'd have something worth watching again 🤣
4 did better. Better storyboarding and more portal use at better times. I hope to see these AI streams take scenes to the next level someday and show them interacting with the environment more (Which I see you've put some nice effort into.) and maybe even being able to have more animations to call on and use. Battles actually breaking out with gunfire and shit would be cool too when they talk about fighting, overall I think that could make this WORLDS better than other AI streams, and it could be just simple firing off screen, or even some back and forth with blaster fire coming from off screen (but of course missing and/or non-fatal hits from time to time.)
Maybe have some "they go to a portal and start and adventure " and let the dialogo continue with them coming back from a portal and the adventure fully done..
i think 4 was a tiny bit better but the standard deviation or whatever you wanna call it is super high on these given how at the beginning we basically saw saw end products from 3.5 of the same prompt, and they were pretty different. So its pretty hard to tell which is better
This is actually awesome keep up the good work I imagine this took forever to make. Also I think it would be cool for the to just get random props from the show if possible. Again it’s fine if you don’t it probably took insanely long to make this
It felt like gpt-4 overall did a better job. It'd be fun to add a narrator (e.g. story lord, Mr poopybutthole, Jessica) to sometimes do a voiceover to explain action scenes e.g. "then rick and Morty fought off the horde of aliens, before returning to the garage"

i agree, and i felt like gpt 4 was better at creative thinking, like the quantum cheese, but gpt 3.5 seemed to stay completely on topic the whole time
3.5 does sometime use abbreviations or variations of the names but not as often, probably both to remember and to not get it self confused on iterations down the line when it starts to forget if The Rock and Dwayne are two different things

Definitely 4 I think. Something about it feels slightly more natural. In a blind test I don't think I could tell the difference though
I love how oddly supportive AI Rick is, he always goes "that's the spirit morty!"
It's due to the positive bias programmed into GPT.
