I know it wasn't an easy decision - but part of the beauty of being a minimalist and not being attached to things, is that it makes leaving them easier. You have your family and what is most important to you. Congratulations on your safe journey Kika!

That is why me, my husband and 2 kids left Australia last year. It was so toxic with all the restrictions, lockdowns, masks and now vaccines. We are living in so called "third world" country but never felt never happier. Covid was long gone forgotten once we arrived where we currently are. Everyone can speak from their own perspective. The whole world was praising Australia but we hated there. It was like living in a prison. I can't assume is that bad in Russia just from the mainstream media.

I'm from Kyiv originally, and my mom spent most of my childhood (90s) in the United States to build up connections and a way to bring me and my dad here (of course my dad decided his business in Ukraine was more important, but that's a whole other story 🙃). She showed back up two weeks before I turned 8, and plopped me into a new country. Now at 32 (really even before that), I realize how lucky I was to have my mom do what she did.

The purpose of the sanctions is to make average Russian people so upset & life so intolerable they will blame Putin, rise up & overthrow him. As it was Putins direct actions that led to the placement of the sanctions. However.. I fear this may have opposite affect.. instead of turning against him the sanctions could reinforce Putins view of outsiders & so turn the average Russian even further from the west 😞

I just started watching your channel. I started with the “typical Russian apartment”. I think you are a wonderful family just starting out and I’m so sorry that your lives have been upended but happy you are safe. I have always thought that Russian is a fantastically beautiful county with an amazing culture. But I understand that a government can ruin life for the people in one fell swoop. I pray that people come to their senses and this can stop and the people can recover. I also hope that others understand that you have nothing to do with what’s happened and you are obviously not comfortable with it. I wish you and your family all the best, and the people people of Russia who are stuck and caught in the middle of something they had nothing to do with.

I can relate to the anger you feel about your government 100%. Coming from a Turkish person, we are in a similar situation. Our economy is on the floor because of our government's stupid decisions, no freedom of speech, journalists getting arrested, tv is controlled, social media gets blocked occasionally if there is something going on that they don't want us to know about, skilled and educated people leave because they are not valued here. Erdoğan just told the doctors who want to leave to just leave cuz "they are ungrateful." They don't care about us at all. A lot of the same problems. But your "leader" is a new level even for me. Kind of makes me not hate my dictator so much. I am so happy to see that you have left. But even happier to hear that you don't support what is going on in Ukraine. Totally understandable that you don't wanna get into the topic too much. I hope things get better as soon as possible and I hope you will be happy where ever you will decide to be with your family.

I feel that we as a nation have this inherit prejudice against Russia and Russians going from generation to generation because of our past, and sometimes it is very hard to even recognize that. I think it is very good and healthy for me to watch videos from people like you and hear the stories of average Russian people and realize that Russian people and the Russian culture really don't have anything to do with Russian government and "politics". We love the American people very much, who have become hostage to the criminal ambitions of their political elite, poking their dirty nose around the world and provoking one war after another. I am very sorry that the Russians succumbed to the American provocation in Ukraine, but in fact they were left with no other way out. There is an existential conflict between the United States and Russia in Ukraine, it is in no way connected with territories. Russia is so huge that it does not need these crumbs, but Russian-speaking people have been living on these lands for centuries who consider themselves and their lands to be Russian, and Russians can neither abandon them nor throw them to the Ukrainian nationalists. If Russia stops defending Donbass and leaves there, a massacre will begin there, worse than what is happening in the Middle East today. In fact, Russia, slandered and muddied by the Western media, has become as much a hostage of the situation as Ukraine.

I think both Ukrainians and Russians are victims for the ambition of the few. This is the result of unchecked power.
You are a person with reasoning ability and conscience. I appreciate you.
I am Taiwanese. Our free and beautiful island nation has always faced the threat of China. Even a small number of people in our country agree with China's annexation. So I feel the same way about what happened to the Ukrainians.
Every day I watch the separation of loved ones of the Ukrainian people and the disappearance of their lives. I couldn't stop myself from crying. I can't just sit here and watch them suffer. So I donated a little money to help Ukrainian refugees. I hope they can live a relatively high quality of life. Especially children, I hope that their education will not be interrupted. And when the war is over, they can rebuild a better country.

Only imagining the greef of making the desition to leave your home country must evoke so much pain. The country where your family lives, and have lived for so long. Where you loved ones that are past are buried. The place that is supposed to be a safe and happy place for your children to grow up in. The tought of that breaks my heart and of course imI think about if it was me. I’m from Sweden and I love my country. I can almost physically feel my roots here. Here, where my family has experienced all the most amazing memories. Where past generations lived and died. I would feel so lost if I couldn’t live and raise my family here. War is so extremely toxic and evil. And for what? For a few mens extreme lust for power. I am so sorry!

what a sweet and incredibly insightful comment. I completely agree - I'm Irish and I *feel* Irish within my spirit, I feel such a connection to the land beneath my feet where my ancestors lived and died, where they survived famine and invasion and war. Its part of me. I'm also very conscious of the fact that I was born in a place with stability and comfort by pure luck. I live in Scotland now and would love to live even further abroad, but I'm mindful of the fact that this desire to travel is a luxury rooted in the comfort of having a home to return to. So many people are displaced from their homelands and yearn to return. I've never been to Sweden but I hope someday I will see your beautiful country!
