Live by faith☝🏼 not by earthly laws! Father Abraham was called a man of faith a man of God, so all who live by faith can call themselves by the name of Abraham.
The Fathers Laws - instructions called the 'Torah' represent our Fathers & our Messiahs righteous character, so we as believers should want to draw near to Him, to know Him better by emulating His righteous character by keeping His Laws/Torah, these are the good works we do to bring good fruit to our Father & Messiah, a proof of truth faith that is living and not dead : see James 2 : 14-20
James 2 : 14-20,
14, My brothers, what use is it for anyone to say he has belief but does not have works? This belief is unable to save him.
15, And if a brother or sister is naked and in need of daily food,
16, but one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” but you do not give them the bodily needs, what use is it?
17, So also belief, if it does not have works, is in itself dead.
18, But someone might say, “You have belief, and I have works.” Show me your belief without your works, and I shall show you my belief by my works.
19, You believe that Elohim is one. You do well. The demons also believe - and shudder!
20, But do you wish to know, O foolish man, that the belief without the works is dead?
James 4 : 8, Draw near to Elohim (God) and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Psalm 119 : 113, The double-minded I despise, but Your law I love.
2 Chronicles 15: 2, יהוה Yahuah (the Lord) is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.
Deuteronomy 7 : 9-12,
9, “And you shall know that יהוה Yahuah your Elohim (God), He is Elohim (God), the trustworthy Ěl guarding covenant and kindness for a thousand generations with those who love Him, and those who guard His commands,
10, but repaying those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He does not delay to do so with him who hates Him, He repays him to his face.
11, “And you shall guard the command, and the laws, and the right-rulings which I command you today, to do them.
12, “And it shall be, because you hear these right-rulings, and shall guard and do them, that יהוה Yahuah your Elohim (God) shall guard with you the covenant and the kindness which He swore to your fathers,

4 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
james is about righteousness before men n not God
......13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
Galatians 3:12-14 NKJV
Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.” Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

The answer is Yes, Abraham obeyed God and did the works that God asked him to do, because Abraham had faith in God that God ways would work righteousness, even if he didn't fully understand why at the time.
How to Love God (Elohim) & people :
1 John 5 : 2-3,
2, We know we love Elohim (God’s) children if we love Elohim (God) and obey his commandments.
3, For this is the love of Elohim (God), that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

And in : 2 John 6, And this is the love, that we walk according to His commands. This is the command, that as you have heard from the 'beginning' (in the OT), you should walk in it.
Who does the Devil come after ?
Revelation 12 : 17, And the dragon (Devil) was enraged with the woman (Church), and he went to fight with the 'remnant' of her seed (believers in spirit & truth), those Guarding the Commands of Elohim (God) and Possessing the Witness of יהושע Yahusha Ha-Moshiach (Jesus Christ).
Note : The Devil will only come after those who walk with Elohim (God) in Spirit & Truth, all others the Devil already has.
What is the 'Truth' : Psalm 119 : 142, Your righteousness is righteousness forever, And Your Law (Torah) is truth.
