Hey Jordan. I think you should get some crown molding for the top of your "mistake" shelfing. Bring it all the way to the top to look like custom shelfing and turn it into a real win! Your rooms looking as good as your Oilers.
Agreed. I recommend looking at the height extension for billy cases. I believe that would bring them up to the same height has the pax and you could continue the crown molding all around.
To cover the small gaps at the top of the shelves, you can use your extra off cuts of the malemine and cut strips to make them touch the ceiling properly.

Hi Jordan! My first comment ever but I just wanted to say I really like the tall Pax units. The large Pax shelves looks really good! You should add a thin moulding (correct word?) on top there to hide the gap and will look perfect. Way better than the «small» Pax would have looked. And room for more Lego!
Hi Bricksie. You are most definitely not an idiot. The truth is that that "happy accident" has actually turned out well for the Star Wars room I think. Those four big cabinets will hold stacks of Star Wars stuff and as a dedicated collector of Star Wars you are going to need those shelves going forward. As far as the May 4th promo goes, it would be great if it was in the Star Wars room as it features quite a big collection of Star Wars models. A very, very big thank you to you and Jose, for working so hard to get all of this done. It's a great video for our enjoyment.
Jordan! Timelapse tip - if you lengthen your shutter speed, the issues with the lights should go away. The trade off there is that everything moving around will look blurry, but IMO since everything looks super-speed in timelapses anyways the motion blur looks natural. I usually record my timelapses with a shutter speed of two seconds, but you could certainly do shorter than that and still get rid of the problem with the lights. Hopefully that helps! Maybe I just don’t know how your lights work, but I think that would fix it if you’re willing to have some motion blur

The light fixtures in the second room look a little closer to the wall from the video perspective. I recommend making sure the width of the taller pax units have clearance at the top because based on how the front room units sit, there’s not enough clearance above them for the light fixture.
Congratulations on your new endeavor. If you’re wanting the corner Billy’s to be as secure as the wall units, you could use an angled bracket from the hardware store to attach the them. You would essentially use twice as many screws and nuts, but the aesthetic would be the same as the other Billy’s. Im not entirely sure how much clearance you have b/c it is such an acute angle. Hello I'm Jaryd Craig Cuthbertson, I'm 34 years old autistic man as I'm from South Africa: Kwa-Zulu-Natal Pinetown Durban in 36 Pastoll Road. I don't think you're a fool in the studio while I adore your collections except for the Harry Potter, I also like your mural like Brick-crafts in Germany. As you know- I got some Lego of my own as I keep them safe in my containers for not cluttering my small bedroom, I'm using some colored papers and papers from book-scraping in the store by my mom to make some landscapes and background of my stop motions videos, and I use my bed to do the videos with the wooden board (for playing puzzle). Plus when I was teenager: I gotten to know Bionicle since the year 2001, I already got the Toa Nuva, Bohrok-kal, some of the Matorans, two Bohrok Va, Toa Metru, Makuta, four Piraka & Visorak. And also for building some minifigures- I can only build them to be the familiar faces from any movies and cartoons. Thanks for only use the word; "Oh my gosh." Because that is much softer words during broadcasting of your own videos... no matter what. And I really enjoy watching your videos all the time.
Coming along nicely! Suggestion for the billies: if you pin them together with an uneven floor you’ll have to shim 1 side as you noted but the will continue on down the line & you’ll end up raising all the others creating a gap at the bottom making them less stable. Rather, maybe use a plate on top to align the faces of the units so they’re flush & don’t worry about the small gap. Caulk the gap if it really bothers you. My 2 cents.
I wouldn't say it's a negative at all. Use some blocks on top of them, get finishing trims and cover up that 2" gap. Now you have some built-in custom cabinets!
Yeah. I like the idea of putting the helmets and buildable figures on the tops of the Billy units. And get them all connected first and clean up the sawdust before filling them up, definitely. I'm also loving how it's looking with all the units in place.
The large shelving looks awesome man! Once you start filling the other shelves with sets, the dynamic of big sets on big shelves and other sets on other shelves is gonna look spectacular. The capacity we all have for adaptation is incredible. I've been watching your channel for a number of years now and seeing your studio come together is outstanding man. So entertaining. Can't wait to see how you develop things in the future. LEGO RULES!!!
I've built many pax and billy shelves from IKEA and something that makes it easier is using a heavy duty staple gun instead of the nails that IKEA includes for attaching the backs. Also when you ordered the pax and besta, there are size options once you select the model type from the first page. Hope this helps in the future order / builds.
In the small room you could just connect both corner shelves with the corner hardware. When you are done connecting all the shelves you will not even see that not all of them are directly next to a wall. Important is that the last shelves will be...
Man it's honestly not your fault I hate how IKEA just names them pax or billy rather than pax tall, billy narrow, etc I imagine they take so many returns from this sort of thing, they would probably save money by labelling stuff better. You have been working non stop so if this is the worst mistake you have made you are still killing it. Hopefully you can take some time off or have a few half days when this is all over but I know you will feel the financial pressure to keep going but try to give yourself a few easy weeks of building Lego or something that still puts out content while being less stressful. The room of Billy's looks incredible, like a museum or something!
We all make mistakes and I agree. It’s a happy accident. I love the straight to the ceiling look! But the most important thing is… no Lego was harmed in the making of the video 😜
Why not adding the Billy extentions on top of the existing ones? That makes them 1cm/0.4inches taller than the Pax units, which won't be noticable unless next to each other. Speaking about consistency :). Little molding to top it of and you have 2 rooms full of build-ins at a fraction of the price! Only downside is that the extentions don't exist for the corner cabinets, but those can be bought in full height if needed.. Nice work by the way!
It's always annoying when a company changes a design or dimensions but doesn't update the name. Or has multiple sizes with the same name. The taller Pax look good. You *may* want to put a strip of wood/malamine at the top to fill that gap between them and the ceiling to eliminate the shadow. Or maybe some lights instead. It's kind of an odd sized gap right now. All the rest of the shelving is looking really sharp.
USA Tusken Raider Brickheadz is backordered will ship in 60 days... all my other stuff is going to ship and I will get all 3 GWPs. I ordered 45 minutes after the May promo started. and the Tusken Raider Brickheadz showed in stock but now several hours later they say nope no stock left so it will ship separately.
4:53 I think it most def is a happy accident. That wall is going to look amazing with the units going all the way to the ceiling, full of Lego. And they frame the opening to that room perfectly! 9:04 don’t get yourself down. You have been so hands on with the buildout of this space and have basically been burning the candle at both ends. Mistakes happen, but that’s life. If no one made mistakes, we would all be Lego Masters. You have done an amazing job; don’t let a couple of silly brain farts kill your mood; you’re killing it!
I know it won't help now, but the Pax units can be built upright. We did that with ours as we wouldn't have been able to tip it up. The back is a pain to nail on as you need to make sure it stays square when upright. But if you get some more it's good to know 😉
Hey Bricksie, you can make the other side as well a perfect corner. As the side between the two corners are 3 shelf’s you can just in between this put a little bit of wood and than it would be perfect. Like corner, shelf, spacer wood, shelf, spacer wood, shelf, corner. Hope this is understandable. Greetings from Germany quiet follower since the really beginning and love your new project. So much opportunity’s.
This was my thought exactly. Make the perfect corner and add a small strip of wood in between one of the Billy bookcases in the middle. Also, as most people have said, stuf like this happens. I did the same with the Besta units here, although in my case I wanted the TV version you accidentally bought but bought the big one. Don't sweat it, Ikea exchanges all. Even if you have build it already or unpacked it.
I'm a big fan of your page and your new Lego showroom. One suggestion is I believe your far Lego display room, you should continue to wrap your shelves around and in front of the window as this would mirror the look in this one room and would look great from a visually point of view! I'm an interior designer and feel you wouldn't regret when you do this! All the way from Wellington, New Zealand.
I think it would be easiest to use the corner brackets as intended with no gaps, leaving a gap between the main bookcases. Add some shims between those before screwing them together and finally add some iron on white melamine edge banding to cover the gap.
You’re not an idiot, you’re exhausted. Don’t be hard on yourself for ordering the wrong height Pax unit, I did exactly the same the first time I ordered mine, luckily the ikea delivery guys snapped them all bringing them into house………. Ikea were awesome and even reimbursed me the cost of having to take them back for exchange. Take a day off dude, you’ve earned it.
I too like building ikea furniture - maybe there is a link between enjoying Lego as well - it’s the building that is just fun where others try and avoid.
It's looking good - those bigger Pax units look great! If you want the Billy ones to match in height, I think the top extenders would fit, and they're separate units, so you can buy them for the Billys you already have.
Looks great! Perhaps consider eventually building custom shelves that go from the end cases and angle to the edge of the door frames? And perhaps some trim along the top to fill the gap on the giant shelves to the ceiling?
Just a thought, if the wardrobe closet shelves don’t work too well, you could lay them on there side and put Lego like that. Even could stack the two on top of each other sideways!
If you really wanted to double down on the height, look at the height extensions for the Billy's. It might make the bookcases be the same height (hard to tell just through video). The extensions also have a small gap at the base, so if you still need to run a power cord it should fit through it.
The PAX units use to have 1 permanent stabilizing shelf, not any more. They are much crappier than they used to be. I installed 2 permanent stabilization shelfs so they didn’t fall apart when loaded.
I would have also returned those very tall bookcases that go to the ceiling. They look odd and mismatched. Give that some thought. Kinda looks too tall going right up to the ceiling like that. Best to do it right, even if you have to do a return. Ikea will take them back. I love the curved billy bookcases, they look awesome.
You could place them on the wall to the right of the door between the display room and the warehouse. Kind of an empty space out there next to the stairs that could be filled. Either way its excellent!
Have you considered the Billy bookcase height extension units for the Billy’s to give you an extra shelf, takes it to 237cm high which is only 1cm different to your new Pax. Plus you can just lift the extra piece in so it won’t damage the ceiling.
I've done somethings that are worse. In 1995 I purchased a loveseat and a TV cabinet for a total of $200...(the loveseat was used for $50 and I still can't believe how I hauled up a flight of stairs) and when I was assembling the TV cabinet some of the panels cracked and I thought I would have been able to repair them since I have some woodworking skills but both pieces of furniture eventually became covered with boxes and about 15 years later, I finally dug them out, busted them up with hammers and threw them onto a local burning pile. I made so much noise busting up that loveseat I'm surprised my neighbors didn't complain.😂🤷
They changed the style of the PAX, I’ve been through that exact same thing. I usually invest in Mainstays bookcases from WalMart and the first three I bought were about 30 inches wide. But then I recently bought some more in the past couple of years and they made them 25 inches wide.
It's okay to make mistakes Bricksie that's normal, we all have our flaws. On the bright side there's more space to display more lego in the future I guess and wow that entire lego collection inside that building would cost like $100,000 more or less. Also I'm happy for someone who come so far in having this type of lego collection. Keep up the good work
I can't be trusted to shop online for anything except LEGO either (outside of the Steam store), so I can totally relate to how you're feeling after this. You need a handheld vacuum for cleaning up the sawdust after connecting the Billy units. I miss my old handheld Dustbuster... not even sure if they make those anymore.
I think the big Pac units look great! My only suggestion is to put some LED strips in the space above them to get rid of the dark space left there. It's kind of distracting from the clean white finish on everything else
Hei Jordan, greetings from Brazil!!! What you should do to solve the corner problem is: use the corner hardware as indicated! Yes it will leave a gap between two of the Billy units, but you can use a strip of melamine edgebanding to cover it up!
Know exactly how you feel, made to same mistake with the PAX units in my bedroom, got the extra height units and was unable to lift them into place. Reread the instructions and you can actually build them standing up so you don't have to raise them into place. LOL
You could always use the circular saw to cut the pax units down to the height you want. Not exactly sure how ikea connects the wood together so I’m not sure how hard or easy making the adjustment would be. Just a thought.
Dont be hard on yourself, man. The big bookcases honestly look solid tbh. You could use them as end pieces in that room and kinda have a "castle" layout with them in the corners.
I don't think your dumb or stupid for making a mistake, I think in your mind you saw the size and grabbed them as you unknowingly bought something to fill the space more then the originals you have. It gives you more shelf space and removes the clutter space on the top. So a part of you thought about the clutter space.
With the sheer scale of this project you cannot be so hard on yourself. It’s amazing! I understand the little things get to you and I hate that for you, but dude! What you are doing… stressful, crazy, and absolutely admirable. Your passion is moving.

Definite agree. That dark gap is distracting. May also prevent it being a dust magnet.
I was going to say the same thing. That or some crown mouldings.

Don't be too hard on yourself. You by far make more good decisions than poor ones.
Man it's honestly not your fault I hate how IKEA just names them pax or billy rather than pax tall, billy narrow, etc
I imagine they take so many returns from this sort of thing, they would probably save money by labelling stuff better.
Connect the talll shlves with a Kallax over the door if they would fit
We all make mistakes and I agree. It’s a happy accident. I love the straight to the ceiling look! But the most important thing is… no Lego was harmed in the making of the video 😜
Put something on top of those big ones to hide the gaps

I honestly think that the taller cabinets would have looked better in the first place. Happy accident!
It was ment to be for the starwars room. Even more epic.
Hope the wife gets a room or two or the new warehouse! As a couple you'll reach a larger audience
Jordan, let’s go Oilers!! 🏒
This whole thing is so great for your whole family. Dedicated spaces make for happy times.
the little wall area at the right side of the staircase - perfect for Lego arts
Add crown molding to it
Between the ceiling and the closet
It will look much more polished and save you on impossible dusting
Those tall wardrobe units would look even better if you filled in that narrow gap at the top with another strip of while melamine.
You can actually return a fully essembled IKEA furniture in the store and get a full refund. It would require a truck though.
You could place them on the wall to the right of the door between the display room and the warehouse. Kind of an empty space out there next to the stairs that could be filled. Either way its excellent!
OMG the lego... good luck. Great to see the wife! Hope to see more of the better partner!
Have you considered the Billy bookcase height extension units for the Billy’s to give you an extra shelf, takes it to 237cm high which is only 1cm different to your new Pax. Plus you can just lift the extra piece in so it won’t damage the ceiling.
A good option for the future anyway if you do run out of space! Keep up the great work 👍
The open concept looks amazing!
Happy accident! You can add a little LED strip light up there and make it very atmospheric!
They changed the style of the PAX, I’ve been through that exact same thing. I usually invest in Mainstays bookcases from WalMart and the first three I bought were about 30 inches wide. But then I recently bought some more in the past couple of years and they made them 25 inches wide.
You could add some crown molding to the tall bookcases and make it look extra fancy.
Keep up the good work
Yes go bricksie
You are so funny
I can't be trusted to shop online for anything except LEGO either (outside of the Steam store), so I can totally relate to how you're feeling after this.
You need a handheld vacuum for cleaning up the sawdust after connecting the Billy units. I miss my old handheld Dustbuster... not even sure if they make those anymore.
I think the big Pac units look great! My only suggestion is to put some LED strips in the space above them to get rid of the dark space left there. It's kind of distracting from the clean white finish on everything else
The Batwing cabinet is in your Star Wars room so you probably want to move it before connecting all the cabinets
The shelving looks great! Can’t wait to see them full of lego
I don't think your dumb or stupid for making a mistake, I think in your mind you saw the size and grabbed them as you unknowingly bought something to fill the space more then the originals you have. It gives you more shelf space and removes the clutter space on the top. So a part of you thought about the clutter space.
