  • Spaceghostpurrp is a name surrounded in controversy, his countless beefs, twitter antics, name changes and rumours of being bipolar have lead to a poor perception in the mainstream and amongst his enemy’s fanbases despite his contributions to the thriving underground Soundcloud scene. While mixtapes like blackland radio 666 and the album mysterious phonk gained some mainstream attention during the height of his career, most people think of Purpp as a washed up rapper who squandered his potential to make it big alongside ASAP rocky. However there is allot more to SGP’s story then what most people are lead to believe. Join me as I explore this topic in further detail.

It is insane how much Heavy Metal and metal imagery has influence both the 90s memphis era and the revival era yet no one knows jack shit about metal and it's impact. Everything from the lofi aspect to the dark imagery. If i had to pick a favorite genre it would most definitely be metal but rap is in a close second. great video!

Make one on Goth Money if you ever have the time man, especially given recent events with Marcy leaving/rejoining(?), Kane's switch to Y$B, the whole change in sound away from tread (and Working On Dying's abandonment of guys like 5FP and the like), and potential rise again for guys like Kray due to squashing the Tracy beef and finally appearing on Worldstar

I still remember the specific moment I was exposed to SGP's music: around 16 - 17 yo playing Maple Story and Don't Get Ya Head Bust came on. Suffice to say it rearranged some neural circuits permanently, I had never heard such a unique sound come from a hip-hop artist. After wading through shitty 2000s rap for my whole life he blew my mind wide open. I still regard SGP as more of an experimental artist dealing in psychedelic, occult esoterica rather than a conventional rapper/producer. I really hope he doesn't succumb to pressures to be famous and commercialize his sound.

    • @MrAka369
      @MrAka369 5 років тому +6

Tim Sullivan hit the nail on the head, i feel the same way when i first heard SGP, he was definitely ahead of his time with that trippy sound, and he modernized three 6 mafia style but created his own style in the process through experimenting with so many creative sounds including ambient noises giving his style that dark psychedelic atmosphere.

Space ghost is overhated. Everyone hates him just because of his beef with asap mob, lil B, Xxxtentacion, and denzel curry. This makes no sense because of 2 reasons. 1) he helped invent the modern soundcloud rap style and 2) he is friends with denzel now and their beef died like 2 years ago.

god been listening to the underground since a freshman, now that basically everyone has come up, it’s been harder to find new music that made me feel the same way sesh, raider, goth money, achievers, Flatbush, ASAP, members only, etc made me feel when I discovered. maybe it has to do with my age or the drugs I’ve been taking that have jaded everything around me. but still, listening to the first phase of the underground brings back such great memories and feelings of euphoria. I am truly blessed to be apart of the growth and rise of it. It wasn’t until four years after listening to all the different scenes that people finally started catching up with the wave. But there was a lot still left in the shadows, some of em left the scene, some of em are still trying. one thing that is for sure, is that talent doesn’t guarantee anything. Please, do goth money after this. Great video, it’s like watching and hearing the stuff I liked back then that took priority.

With purrp its like that. hes my alltime favorite rapper, but not only because of his music.
He was born at april 1st 1991. i was born at march 31st 1991.
And i think thats why i feel his shit so much. his thoughts, decisions and of course his music.
I am diagnosed with a few mental illnesses, similar to his.
I listened to most rappers he listened to, and i dont know, i think its when you start your life almost at the same day, you get many parallels.
I also even played this fucking pinball game 😂 and thought the sound efx were dope and started discovering fruity loops at my young teenage years.
And as i got older i also had bad experiences with fake friends who took my ideas and sold them as theirs. I can understand his story in many points...
Yeah there are so many reasons that only purrp is able to give my life the perfect soundtrack.
Thank you purrp! Even if the whole world is mad at you, i want to say thank you, for never stopp making music and i hope it for the future!

keep it lowkey as possible? even if you know that your life could be so much diff in many ways, he real1.
but I still think/feeling it, its so hard to be like that for him, its easy to went wrong way of thinking.
he do it for himself, but also us/culture of rap, he is very into that lowkey/underground
90' memphis way to be, its rare. good that Genius also do video,
