I don't like what they are doing with the skins. The only skins that truly feel "exclusive" are the invasion end boss skins, because they arent just color variations. Three gear slots may have solved this, but they dropped the ball there too.
I 100% agree with you! While there ARE super cool skins in the game, the customization has DEFINITELY taken a hit when compared to MK11!

Scorpions order of darkness skin isn’t rare but the rendition of it from the season 1 is, where it’s red with fire patterns. Basically all elder god skins are rare and always will be.
I thought about adding that instead, but considering that it was a reward for one of the lowest tiers in KL, I figured it took more effort to grind out Invasions!
(The Invasions version is SICK, though!)

Well that shao skin was not just in KL you can get that skin during those titan fights I know bc I did the baraka and shao and got both skins and they where the skins from season 1 rank rewards
Yea I think every Kombat league skin that are elder god ranked are gonna be titan fights to earn.
You could indeed! The skin palette was exclusive to KL, though! (The one with the fancy fire effects and all that jazz.)
I do, however, think the OG version looks just SLIGHTLY better!
The skins will be available to earn, but the palettes are exclusive!

I know the gimmick with MK11 was that everyone fought with some sort of weapon thus complimenting the customization really well, so you can change the look of the weapon, some sort of face/headpiece and something a little less noticeable like belt, arm band or w/e..
The fighting in MK1 is largely just hand to hand but I still don’t see how there wasn’t room for at least TWO gear items to customize.. like there’s no reason why Scorpion's mask AND Kunai/Spear/Harpoon/Rope Dart couldn’t be customizesble or Bi Han’s mask and Ice Spine from his over head or hell the ice spear from the slide..
I completely agree, I REALLY miss the gear options! It made each character you faced feel more unique to each player!
actualy for chars who are hand to hand like Li mei Liu Kang and ect they coud've just slapped special effect variants like changing Liu kang's fire color and ect you get it. honestly such a missed opportunity it would ve been cook to make Li Mei's lanters and stuff green or RNG and same goes for Liu/scorpion's fire , shang's souls raiden's thunder and yea the list can go on
What makes Scorpion's Order of Darkness rarer is the fact that one of the klues in Season1 Invasions requires you to do one of Shang Tsung's fatality, and you won't be able to get past Shang Tsung's Lab if you don't have him.
I'm pretty sure klues in Invasions just give you access to chests with some stuff in it. You don't need to complete them to progress further
I really hope there are more customizations from previous game.
I hope most of these come out from the premium item store (especially the Blaze of glory scorpion)

I shouldn't have to grind so much for the elder god skins people are way too sweaty on this game at least in mk11 they were somewhat more obtainable but now I'm lucky if I can make it to God rank I hope they make them available in some other way without dealing with the overly toxic online bs that just kinda makes me not want to play the game knowing that I bought it without any chance of getting everything it has to offer with such an insane skill gap requirement some of us have actual jobs and I think having any content be time limited is predatory like no you have to play this NOW how dare you have anything else going on in your life. Maybe I'm just getting old but these games used to be a lot more fun and worthwhile everything now is way too online focused I wish more people would complain about it..
Publishers do this to push engagement metrics, so in turn, their microtransaction store gets more visited and more sales done. Willingly at the expense of the experience of the rest of the playerbase. I still think having something like a battle pass is not too bad for a fighting game, but skill locked cosmetics in a game which severely lacks in that department is bad. This isn't a free 2 play title, but a full price one and the expectations should reflect that.

@@InfectedDurian by the way, you don’t have to be elder God in the first season to get the Baraka skin if there’s pyramid and invasions just beat the boss and then you unlock his skin that’s how I got it

“Top 5 rarest skins” tbh when everything is just garbage pallete swaps unless you pay cash for actually different/good costumes what does it matter. This is pretty much just a Kombat League skins list. To anyone thinking you can’t get season 1 costumes just change the date on your console.
