I just don't understand why Aoe2 is even still a thing. Did AOE4 have some issues when it launched, sure. But it's years later, the game has come so far, and it's light years better than a 20 year old game. Especially when it comes to competitive, AOE4 is so much better to watch because the games are so varied since the CIVs aren't all the same. Every Aoe2 game is the same thing.
2 & 4 are too different, AoE4 is not a replacement for the 2. And thus, even if civs are looking alike, they're in fact really different. You're not playing Cumans like you play Teutons.
1. Aoe4 at launch was quite unbalanced, which made the meta quite volatile while they fixed it. 2. Aoe2 players didn’t stick for too long since their game was already well stablished and aoe 4 still lacked the same amount of support to keep up in scale 3. Although similar on the surface aoe2 micro is way more responsive and complex than aoe4 due to ballistics and accuracy rates and among other things make the games more about individual skill than civ features thus making it more attractive to the already stablished fanbase. It would be delusional to think aoe4 would replace 2 without Microsoft intentionally pulling the plug when the game is still popular and still sells well
from my perspective since I barely touch AoE4 but still play AoE2: 1) better gameplay and mechanics 2) more civs and content 3) game (although old) is still alive and active and doesn’t suffer from CoD syndrome
Nah I don't want any game to die. Even though I play mostly on AoE4 now, AoE2 is a great game and a big part of my childhood. Also, AoE2 tournaments are fun to watch, specially the Hidden Cup. I think AoE4 just need more tournament manager and organizer that believes on the game.
Hopefully not a silly question but why does Beasty put both his villagers and army on the same multiple control groups? Eg. at 18:50 he has all his army on 1, 2, 3 and a group of vills on 2,3.
Purple had such an amazing spot. Underrated, it was ideal for a Wonder defense

The king that fled all the way to the top of the mountain wanted to show a safe hiding spot and a nice place to get relief from the stress of life.

probally he wants these villagers to follow up millitary group in order to build towers and more military constructions to reinforce the attack.
You mean bureaucrats was a bad thing. As a southern I hear of such. lmao.
Can I ask what French have that JD doesn't ?
eco
Eco buildings half price (mill and camps), vills are produced faster and keeps are reducing the cost of stables and archery units around
