This guy is not very good at his job. First of all he didn't even know what kind of slump he had pouring into the hopper. He said I need it tight. Really, no wander you plugged up. First truck on a line pump, you make it wet enough to get out the other end. Even a 5 inch slump is going to be a 4 on the other end maybe even less depending on how hot it is. He needs more training.

Buddy a 5 inch slump doesn’t magically go into a 4 inch slump on 150 ft of hose. Idk where people get this idea from. And it’s not that “hot”
I was taught to first pump water (hopper filled to around the top of the barrels, give or take. More for long runs.) followed by grout ( at least a hopper full or more depending on length of line) then concrete. The water lubes the line, the grout keeps the water from mixing with the concrete which will cause segregation resulting in a plug. Plus we use structural grout so it can go right into the walls or slab and have no issues. Never use bentonite unless your priming outside of the pour. (Previous comments here explain why). I personally have only used bentonite blowing back on high rise buildings to lube our candy cane. Generally you'll never have a problem with this method. I'm sure there are lots of ways to achieve the prime, whatever works for you, this is our way. Our company does the impossible pumping jobs world wide. I believe the company I work for did a line job around 10,000-15,000ft of line. They lost 1500ft or so in the cleanout process. Mind boggling to think about all that line. lol. Second comment, I have a small grout type pump, it pumps 1/2" minus and has the 2.5" house...
My larger hose has less bottle necking issues but I made a purchased a long reducer pipe and really helped the bottle necking
Yes that’s why I use the 36” reducing pipe for my 4 to 3
I hate running my line pump with 3 inch hose haha. I love that 2.5 inch. Our customers love it also
Well I started out with 4”. I hated that after I got my hands on the 3”. So I hear what your saying.

Used to work concrete and I found that there are two kinds of concrete guys. Those that drink and those that used to.

Bentonite to live lines helps a lot I’ll prime out 100’ of hose at a 5 slump in the hopper but if you only got water I’ll prime 50’ of hose at a time
some day you will have to do a revisit video on all the driveways pool decks or other cool things that you guys pumped ."form to finish"

Im new to this type of technology. Are there any conditions to use this pump?? Like Thickness of concrete, height of floor etc etc ....
We use a slurry to prime out, every 60ft hose we add a half bucket of slurry and we've never had a plug up. We always run a 5 or 6 mix through... even with the meatballs from a certain plant. We've never plugged
I use water and have never plugged
on our squeeze pump (14M IWC i believe is the brand) i prime it with a 94lb bag of portland. it works for straight out of the boom and i’ve primed 160+ of system off the end of the boom reducing down twice. i’d imagine that’s very similar to your masonry mix
The masonry mix has sand in also. It would be similar to a weak grout. I have used Portland also. It works ok. Thanks!
100 ft of 3” Just mix like 1/2 a bucket of that dirt and fill to the top with water. Mix up till wet mud. Dump it in the hose at the main reducer. Reverse it two stokes first then forward. It will go the 100 ft no problem. Especially using pgrvl.

@@MuddyfeetConcretePumping yeah maybe a little less then half a bucket of dirt and wet it up like soup. At least 5 gallons. Works just like slury
We use 2buckets of dirt and put in reverse and add water till it’s thick. Then stroke it down then fill up the hopper with concrete and send it. I’ve sent it like 400ft on dirt and water. Never ever used anything else before

from experience i can tell you.. bentonite clay is perfect for a prime out.. but you cannot mix it with the mud or it will leave a mushy spot.. it doesnt dry with concrete.... about 4 garden shovel scoops in a 5 gallon bucket of water and mix.. let it thicken up and use..... it is very rare we plug up on a prime out.....

Actual dirt ? Serious question
They were training a new guy on the amigo poured wall crew, a Southpaw. I called him 'Lefty' and I was used to the regular pump man and when he said GO you poured the hopper full! THEN! Well, Lefty got ready and when he nodded I tapped the trigger on the old 10/12 yard Doggie and full it was. Trouble was he was slow on the switch and that mix hit before the prime and it just humped up and that was IT. Ball and seat pump, no reverse so the whole crew was out beating hose. Looked like a prison scene with everybody at hard labor in the rock pile, flailing away. They busted the clod after tearing the hose down but we lived to pump another one. All in a day! GBWYall!.
Bentonite is a finishers nightmare, it mixs in with the concrete and dosen't set up. I do use it for priming through hoses after a boom prime. And i gotta push about a barrow though the hoses of prime cause bentonite sticks to the hose walls
Never used it. I hear people speak highly of it though.
Yeah it works good. One thing though when hosing it down in the bucket it works best as a oatmeal type consistency any wetter and it doesn't work. Its somewhere like a liter of bentonite power will do 75 to 100 feet of hose. I mix one bucket till it gets to the oatmeal stage pour that in then mix any thats left in the bucket and pour that in.

We use a full 5 gallon bucket with about a liter of B mix for slurry prime out and we add a half of a 5 gal bucket at the 60 ft hose clamp it back up. Add half bucket of slurry every 60ft never have a issue plugging and you can prime out all in a few shots.
@@Dex01-Z_WingZero if it looks like pancake mix your good. I keep buckets mixed and ready to go on top the truck. Throw my slurry in the elbow and head to the next job.
I use Crete-Lube 3 it works really good on 2” and 3” line up to 200’ line prime no problem I definitely recommend that cheap easy little bags to handle better then cement mortar 👍🏾

One of the more Fascinating pours you’ve done. I would of been curious to of known what all the forms dictated. Forms everywhere. I can see steps. It must of taken a week to form that all out.
If I can remember I’ll go back by there in a few months to see what it looks like.
If I plug once my customers expect a free pump bill. Also they would never agree to line pour that. They would die. Keep on keeping on.

We use 2.5 in hose as our primary we also have 2,3,and4 that we use the 2.5 works fine use a Slick Willie product to prime

Yes I will show how I do it. Not sure if it’s the safest way though.
Safe way to clean the hose. Get yourself a blowout tool that clamps to one end that attaches to a water hose. Make a wet newspaper ball that fits nice and snug in the end with the tool. Clamp it up and turn on the water. It will push all the concrete out of the entire line and clean the hose at the same time. But make sure the water don’t get passed the paper ball or it will wash the cream out of the mix and stop moving. If that happens you gotta break and shake every hose. Fun fun
Okay, I have a stupid question. Why does the horn go off as your pumping. Ive watched a great number of your vids and wondered why. Keep up the great work.
We use the horn to signal the truck drivers when we start pumping and stop pumping. Their is a horn at the back of the pump for the truck drivers to use to signal us that they need to stop us from pumping.

@@MuddyfeetConcretePumping we were working in a steep canyon the hose came down hill about 300 feet. It was a little scary when it first started but we had it under control until the third truck was late the water drained out of the hose and it was clogged in a number of spots. We had talked to the pumper about blowing out the lines he said he could handle it. It was a long time ago so it gets a little fuzzy on what really happened but I think he was taking apart the clamps working his was down the hose and got to a point where it was clogged real bad so he was working the taken the clamp off and Erving his pump real hard ! The clog blew and launched the pumper about six feet he landed on a soft part of the hill and popped right back up and that was it
In my younger days I made a pour through 2 in hose at 500+ft it wasn't pretty and a lot of hammer work to get it started lol

How does the billing work for the concrete ordered?
If you over order do they charge you extra for sending trucks back with mud still in them?
If you under order do they charge you more for the extra required?
It seems like a lot of the jobs you have show all seem to under order and just request extra to complete the pour.
Yes they want to keep from ordering to much concrete. You pay for what you ordered

Why are you running a 3 inch line with P gravel mix why not a 2 1/2 or a 2 inch as your whip that’s what we use out here in California .. just a question
Thanks for asking. We have a verity of stones here. Most of my customers use 3/4 to 1” rock.

Quick question: Do yalls concrete company have a shortage of mud? Here in northern california there's a shortage of cement its self. Most plants only have enough cement powder to cover 200yds per day..

@@drcornelius8275 Go outside and crab some 3/4 minus gravel, get a stick of rebar and lay it on the ground. Cover the bar with gravel, pull the rebar up through the gravel. You CANNOT push that rebar back down. Lifting rebar in concrete works just fine. It However DOES not work with wire mesh.

2 things: One time i had a worn-out hose (from rubbing on corners etc) hooked to my reducer and it blew on me, stuccoed mixer truck, my pump and truck and front side of the house😂 so now i always lay my good hoses closest to the pump and face worn out parts down whenever possible.
2) caution: Jeep = Just empty every pocket😂

I’m in the market to buy a concrete pump and I’ve Ben looking at a squeeze pump from blast Crete . Can any one give me good or bad . I don’t need a high volume pump we generally do smaller pourers for foundations and walls in hard to access areas.

I’d go a good 450ft on that pump all day but it isn’t going to be fast

Why do you guys make the finishers run the line pump? That is unheard up here in the pacific north west. The pump operator Always runs the pump for them.
Why do you make the pump operator run the hose? It’s his job to operate the pump and make sure everything is functioning correctly and safely. We have some concrete companies that bring us hard mixes to pump and it’s hard to operate the pump and the hose sometimes. Besides it’s better for them to run it that way if they get to much concrete in their or a grade level that is different that they have control of that. Also that’s the way it was when I started pumping here. I bet y’all also run smaller hose than we do. We have crushed rock versus river rock. Crushed is harder to pump in smaller hoses.
