    My 510 is in it's fifth summer on my lawn. I have an ECO mode along with a full power mode. I love the mower,but had a problem with the ECO mode almost from day one. I emailed Stihl,but they couldn't provide an answer for my problem,which caused the mower to run at full speed regardless of grass thickness. Finally,my dealer told me Stihl had provided new training for repairs on the mower,and I took it in for the umpteenth time a few weeks ago. They finally found it was a defective sensor,I think they said, that controlled blade speed. The machine was well outside warranty,but my dealer fixed it free,as I have been bitching about it for years. Now it runs mainly at the slow speed,as with the drought,the grass is not growing too thick. BTW,Stephanie should be wearing safety glasses. I have always worn eyeglasses,and over the years, I have been hit in the eyeglass lens a couple of times by something hard and traveling fast.

      Does it bag well? I would imagine it bags better running without ECO mode, but I'd appreciate your assessment of its bagging capability. That's the only thing that keeps me from buying one.

Very un satisfied! 👎🏻

    Hey listen up all negative reviewers. Yes it looks like the grass is already cut and yes why would you ask someone's reaction to a first try with a battery operated lawn mower?
    I bought my Stihl battery operated mower like this one last month and have used it three times.
    In defence of anyone's negative comment here it is this. Someone who hasn't bought an electric battery orerated mower will have all kinds of questions. Let's just say as this woman states it is quiet but funny it sounds actually loud on the vid. In reality it is relatively quiet. I can attest to that. I have had two neighbours come up to ask about it as the quietness caught their attention first.
    Let me say that I am in no way connected to Stihl or any lawn mower seller. I live in Winnipeg Canada and our grass is growing expotentially.
    Let me continue for those who think this video doesn't do it.
    1. There is a wow factor when you use it. 2. You will be smiling and wowed each time you use it asking yourself "Why the heck didn't I buy this thing sooner?"
    3. The battery (one is sufficient to cut my lawn) My yard is 110 ft x 50 ft. Don't buy the a second battery even if it is on sale. You probably won't need it in a residential average yard neighbourhood.
    4. The battery has had 40% charge left after each of my three cuts.
    5. Charge time from 40% is about one and a half hours. From dead it would be around two and a half hours. That is pretty good woundn't you say.
    What else. This mower is pricey but the dealer I bought it off of says that he has sold these electric battery operated ones for ten years now and has not had one come back.
    Also- No gas, no plugs. No carborators to adjust or replace. Tip it over to get at the blade for resharpening without oil and gas going all over the place.
    Also it is a side throw if you want, a rear bagger if you want and a mulcher.
    I have been mulching long grass with no issues. I have mulched my grass for the 38 years I have lived in my home. This machine has given one of if not the best mulch cut yet.
    You can also put it onto an eco mode to use less power. ALL THREE CUTS SO FAR HAVE BEEN JUST FINE ON " ECO MODE!"
    As well,
    Oh yes. Consider if you had a 21 inch mower before to get the 18 inch wide one here. Why? Because it is more maneuverable around shrubs>
    As well this machine to begin with is way lighter than a regular mower and going down to an 18 inch has it being even lighter. You will actually be throwing this thing around. I swear I have cut ten minutes off of my cuts.
    So I have written this for those who are wondering about should I get one and what might the negatives be.
    i forgot in Canada this machine is $2-300 more than a conventenial mower. I am 70 years old and intend on staying in my house for at least another fifteen years so I shall enjoy this machine even though it did cost more. I am smilin and figure I will for a long time.
    So in closing yes Stihl if you want to send me some money for this great positive review I would of course accept as I could put it to good use with my grandkids.
    Go in Winnipeg Canada.

    Hi, this lawnmower works with an AP 300 battery. Correct? If you use the adapter( instead of the battery) from AR3000 backpack, you can charge the lawnmower from the backpack?

    • @WesternEquipment
      @WesternEquipment 5 років тому

      Yes this is using the AP300 battery, but according to Stihl the AR3000 is not a feasible option on this mower. Your best bet is to have a secondary AP300 in the storage slot or use the new AP300S to get more run time. Thanks!

    I'm in the market for a lawnmower. My grass is really tall right now. In CA they are making people switch to battery powered and it's fine if you have a small yard, but I have a bigger yard, so 60 min +/- is not enough time. Especially since my grass right now is over grown.

    This stuff is for homeowners not proffesionals, I've landscaped for 8 years and have all types of equipment including electric and the battery electric stuff is just not able to compete with the gas powered tools. Battery life is not long enough for commercial use and you need to have several batteries to do a days work and then you need multiple chargers and they cant be left to charge unattended, lithium ion batteries are just a volatile as gasoline and also impact the environment in their own when when it comes to manufactering and disposal. Honestly the concept is there the electric motor has great torque and less parts to wear out as is the case with combustion engines, they run quiet and can be used safely indoors because they do not have exhaust but they are cheaply made tools almost all plastic now and they will break much faster if used commercially. The batteries will also eventually degrade and lose capacity because no one actually takes the time to read the manual and store them properly.

    What is run time, and battery recharge time?

    • @WesternEquipment
      @WesternEquipment 5 років тому +4

      The run time on the AP300 Battery on the RMA 510 mower is rated for 5100 sq ft per charge. Obviously this can vary due to grass height and thickness. The charge time is around 75 minutes with an AL300 charger or 35 minutes with a AL500 charger.

    • @Thoughmuchistaken
      @Thoughmuchistaken 4 роки тому

      Typically takes me 20-30mins to kill the AP300 battery, but I also have an AP180 which I swap in and will last 15-20mins. That's in reasonably tall grass, if you were cutting stuff like in this video you would get 5-10mins more run time. I've also run the AP300 down in 10mins cutting 2.5ft tall grass. Charging times from Western Equipment are accurate. Overall enjoyable lawnmower to throw around, it has the light rattly feel of cheap lawn mowers of my youth. It takes over for a pretty new self propelled Honda which I'm struggling to justify keeping around. Small gas engines are filthy things for your lungs, that's why I changed to this mower.
