This was bass player John Deacon’s FAV song to play… and Roger Taylor had said that “When Freddie looked you in the eyes, you hit the drums HARDER”!😄
(It’s really TOO BAD that no one seems to be aware that there’s an “extended” version of this performance - which is SO MUCH BETTER - that includes the actual ending (another switch-up and a reprise from “Now I’m Here”) …instead of cutting off like this does. .. oh well.)
    This was AWESOME, THANK YOU!!🥰

My favorite Queen song. The Game was a great album. Nice performance but I prefer the album version better.

"Dragon Attack" was composed by Brian after being inspired by a late night to an early morning jam session, while they were “probably very drunk.”
Roger listed it as one of his favorite Queen songs though he admitted it the drums for this song were exhausting to play.
The line "gonna use my stack, it's gotta be Mack" references the album's co-producer and engineer, Reinhold Mack.

Another song where they seem to just jam is 'White Queen' live. The wonder of Queen is in the sheer variety of genres that they ventured into.

A song that literally grew out of a drunken jam season.
Pure fun, Freddie bringing it all together. He always performed with his entire being.

“Dragon on my back” .. Brian May’s fire-breathing Red Special 🐉🔥 “It’s hot .. it’s mean” that guitar strapped to Brian’s back!! Love this performance and the studio version is worth a listen, too! 🎸🎸🔥

I feel extremely lucky to have seen Queen twice in Milwaukee (76 & 77). I had never seen a lead singer take total control of the audience. IMHO, Freddie Mercury was the quintessential front man. Yes, Brian, Roger and John were (are) excellent musicians, however Freddie WAS Queen! RIP, "Mr Fahrenheit...." 🙏🙏

As much as I appreciate your honesty, first of he wasn’t on drugs, and if your 2year old can do what Freddie does I don’t think so,Freddie was a gifted musician who just felt the music he was not choreographed. He was having fun enjoying what he does for his fans, and that’s why we love him. If you want choreographed dancing go watch todays so called musicians sorry

Aren't they neat? They work so well together. I see it as an instrumental with Freddie accompanying the guitars and drums.

Check out the actual album track itself, it is a very very funky track. Freddie's movements incorporate boxing stances and yoga moves. He sued box when in boarding school. Apparently he was a terrible dancer hence the awkward movements that he performs that makes his style so unique...

One of my favourite Queen's songs. I always have wondered if Billy Squier took inspiration from here to make The Stroke.

Very cool. You’ll have to check out their album The Game (1980). Different sound for them. Great album. You probably already know Another One Bites the Dust and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Same album.

Haven't seen this before. So different from the album version. Your comments fit this performance, but the song itself on The Game is actually a song not just a jam.

In sort of a typical reverse fashion, this live version eliminates the little drum solo by Roger Taylor after Freddie exclaims "It's a Dragon Attack!" This omission is important because for most people who know the song it is the "moment" that is waited for and is the focal point of the song. It also breaks up the repetition of the groovy bassline sections where Freddie is just riffing lyrics. This version seems to only have the mostly-unbroken groove. Not bad, but it lacks the shift that the studio version has. Of course, this version might actually be boring if it weren't for Freddie's top-notch showmanship.

    • @CygnusKC
      @CygnusKC Рік тому

PS... to clarify what I meant by "reverse fashion"; I mean that live versions are more apt to inject a drum solo into a song that didn't originally have one rather than cut one out.

I think they skipped that part because the song before this is an extended version of Now im here which Roger said was very tiring straight into this one followed by a reprise of now I'm here

In the studio version of Dragon Attack they leave space for three solos: bass, drums and guitar (ua-cam.com/video/spm5-SXo4Do/v-deo.html).

Don't really care for lead singers that do all that stuff on stage, just sing the songs dude. My main thing with Queen is Brian May's guitar playing and tone, amazing

The white jeans are Wrangler's. Deacon's base playing is awesome! I don't think Freddie was on drugs during this concert! The whole concert is phenomenal and really sets the bar high! If they could accomplish this on drugs well then I don't know what to say! Freddie's moves are always cool. I think his persona and charisma and the way he owns the stage make him seem taller than he is.
