Can someone do a walk around on one of these squad truck to see the pump size ,do they hold water , how tall does the snorkel reach and equipment carry on both squad trucks !! That would be a awesome video!!
Neither hold any water, therefore there is no pump on the rigs. I don’t know how tall the snorkel can reach but I know it can go as high as the top door on a 747-8F. And, they carry an access amount of extraction equipment and stabilizing equipment.
U would think that they would have the actual city squads done 1st.Then have the airports the 1's who get the most calls should b 1st don't think the airport has more runs then the city.....
Can someone explain Chicago's squad response and rationale for two pieces on squad companies, and have one with a snorkel? It's interesting and I'd love to know why.
Actually you can see them, but it's rare. All the companies cover a small STILL District outside of the field, but Squad 7's STILL became larger now that they have a snorkel. I'm not sure on how much bigger or where borders are but I do know they now cover much more. Thanks for watching!
Are they really getting rid of the minipumper (6-3-7), or are they just leaving it as a separate rig, and not part of the Squad set? Because the minipumper's design is such that it can easily get inside the parking structures, something full-size rigs can't do!
Toby Cameron Your getting the old Squad 7A mixed with 6-3-7 which is the old 7A's twin rig at Midway airport. The old 7A mini pumper is being used as a spare rig from what I know. I have heard rumors though that if it's needed it can be picked up from fleet and used for those types of incidents. 6-3-7, the mini pumper at Midway, is still in service.
Not too sure why they switched to city style rigs, that old Pierce Squad looked a lot more capable and like it had more tools and so forth. I agree with the oddness of replacing the airport rigs first then the city rigs, also perplexed as to how they appear to have none of the IATA compliance yellow beacons all vehicles regularly traveling on an airfield are required to have..all of that being said great catch, honestly never would have known they switched unless you got this video!
Thanks! Like I mentioned in other comments, the FAA pays for the airport vehicles meaning they get them first since they are federal funds used. They have the same equipment as the old squads do. They used to have a snorkel at the airport years ago so once again they have one and can be used for many things. Thanks for watching!
The squads are E-One I think the old squads had to fit in with the other old rigs but I'm sure engine 12 was the same way it is now the old squad 7A was not a snorkel it was the same rig as ARFF 637
Not from Chicago but I think it's kinda stupid 2 Get new squads 4 the airport.I can c 4 the city yeah but the airport when would they ever use the snorkel not 4 Know plane.Unless a surrounding terminal or building goes up.On that snorkel does it have it's own pumper or will it still rely on an engine if it does still gotta rely on a engine even More dumb that Chicago got them.
Chris Partlow they can be used on planes.... there are many uses for them and there used to be a snorkel here a long time ago. It will still rely on an Engine.
Bobcat1Deere2Cat3 Just never understood the squads 2piece truck the squad company's u guys got out there it's so post 2 b a special unit I thought.Y have a mini snorkel that really can't do anything I wudda thought c.f.d. wudda at least made them quint snorkels at least. Its just a mini snorkel & that's it & it's part of a special unit.
Chris Partlow it carries all the other rescue equipment that's not on the box. The snorkel is used at a majority of fires in the city. They can get into areas the trucks and towers can't.
The windy city for sure.

Awesome video!!!
joseg2143 Thanks Jose!
Awesome! When are they going to have all of the New Rosenbauer squads finished? I thought I saw a video on Rosenbauer's website or somewhere about it.
firefreak57 Squad Co. 2 next week and Squads1 and 5 are still being worked on.
Bobcat1Deere2Cat3 What about squads 2&3.
There is no Squad 3. Squad 2 went in service yesterday.
There is a Squad 3, except its fictional, it only exists for "Chicago Fire" on TV.
Bobcat1Deere2Cat3 of
R.I.P Old Squad 7 and 7A
EAS CEC not yet. They will be used as spares.
No more Squadzilla
Or for TV episodes.
Toby Cameron Womt be used for that either.
Awesome truck! Love the snorkel!
Oklahoma Emergency It sure is nice looking! Thanks!
Now, they have had these units for years, almost like a tower ladder truck, but not. Why don’t they just get another tower unit ? I’m curious.
1a is more useful then an additional tower since its better for tighter spots and to hit fires where towers can't
They are Rosenbauer
I think these 2nd squad trucks are absolutely amazing!! Wish fdny would do something like this !! Either for the squads or rescues companies !!
what company made the squads
so cool
very cool
awesome will allison vlogs Thanks!
Awesome catch!
I think more large cities are missing the boat when they don't have a small platform like this one.
U would think that they would have the actual city squads done 1st.Then have the airports the 1's who get the most calls should b 1st don't think the airport has more runs then the city.....
The FAA Paid for the airport rigs, so they say when they get the rigs, has nothing to do with the city.
Bobcat1Deere2Cat3 If that's the case y r they say their c.f.d.
Because it's still the Chicago Fire Department. All airport rigs are purchased by the FAA.

They look amazing. Wish they would've turned on the lights on 7A. Can't wait to see the non-Airport ones responding out on the streets.

5:08 you can see there so savage that they just put in a speical ops cheif #specicalairportops
There new trucks y would they go 2 fleet as spares??????
The new rigs were bringing the old rigs to fleet....

anyone wondering what this is, its a rosenbauer 55. ACP Manvuerability
What does the back look like? Still sweet vid. Wish it had a real Q2B!
I like those yellow colored rigs, they are beutiful in my eyes... even though the yellow is dull on those rigs i still like it.
Not too sure why they switched to city style rigs, that old Pierce Squad looked a lot more capable and like it had more tools and so forth. True. Its 2002+2015 and the trucks are 2002. Like wow if thats the case then replace the trucks then.

The squads are not E-One.
Those are the new(er) LED rotators on the Cab I do believe, Those things have a crap load of patters.
The Rosenbauers are uglier than sin! The old ones looked much better.
pvtpyle40able The look of these have grown on me a bit and in the long run, they get the job done which is all that matters.

Oh Ok. Are the new ones Sirens as EQ2B?
