I loved the second movement. It reminds me of why I fell in love with Beethoven as a child, why I studied German at University. A lifelong passion for a culture which is so often misunderstood. I listened to the second movement with tears. Oistrakh plays this with understated reverence. Sophie Mutter reveals the passion of the romantic German soul. I would like to hear a recording by Menuhin if there is one.
I'm mesmerized. She's memorized these Sonatas. She plays flawlessly. She plays without a shoulder rest for crying outloud! She brings a freshness in interpretation. How does she do all that, and still find time to maintain that killer athletic body?
Superbissim! Sunt in Eden, cand il ascult!
Mutter is a living Legend. When I want to really discover the emotional depth and meaning to a piece, I search for Mutter's version. Never fails. Her interpretations are at a different level.
Splendid as always with this "Grande Dame" of the violin. Yet - I almost don't dare to say it - the last movement at least for me lacks a little humor...... But great playing for sure!!!

@@tonyqunta32 You can listen to Oistrakh's old Philips recording. That's how I would play it. If you can't sense how ridiculous her rubatos are, I can't help you. Get a new pair of ears or get a new hobby.
0:25 - allegro assai
7:15 - tempo di minuetto
16:58 - allegro vivace

Superba 👍 muzica foarte frumoasa
I was relaxing and closing my eyes, while listening to this violin sonata. In the overall darkness, l have discerned a bunch of colorful flowers.
Ooh! I recommend Beethoven’s 5th violin Sonata aka The spring Sonata.

OMG! I didn't realize she was doing it without shoulder rest! I can't believe it! It's not possible.
@Bruh Moment LOL you try
It depends on how long your neck is. Short necks don’t need it as much. I was fine playing without it when I was a kid but as grew as needed it.
She sprintss and walks regularly....to maintain flow of musicalmusical ideas
@@xdragclick2074 don't worry,I will!
Her Performance is like a UFO sighting. It's happening right in front of you, And yet what She does can't Possibly be Real, and yet She Does!

Într-adevăr, un compozitor legendar.
At first I thought a little bit slow, but by the end of the first movement she won me over with her childlike humor and attention to small details
When I was young this was my go to piece along with 5 ;-) They are amazing players. These recordings are brilliant.
Que duo excelente una belleza !!! Una sensibilidad increible❤❤❤
straordinariamente bello.
onore anche al pianista, davvero eccellente.
I am playing first movement right now and I hope I will play all of them. Second movement is so amazing...
Art has neither time nor place: for it touches the eternal ubiquitous soul.
Merci!!!!

I Allegro assai

Gracias
True. Wouldn't be the first time. I sometimes feel that Chopin did the same thing. Some of his phrases come straight from Beethoven Sonatas.
Hi tealeaf
thanks for your channel.
Vavaldi is my favorite followed by Haydn.
cheers.

Well sed
Lovely gown.
Sounds similiar like Moonlight Sonata, 3rd version on some rythm
LOL 3rd movement

Primera vez que no me quiero saltar un comercial de UA-cam :3
Amazing
Omg the theme of the first movement's development at 4:53 is almost like that of Burgmuller's C minor Ballade (perhaps the latter stole it from here?)
I just heard a recording of this with her, it was different(better) :)
Yay!
dat face doe
What year was this recording made?
She is 58 now. Looks 40 here. 18 years ago.

look at 2:57. Her bow comes off the string but for some miraculous reason it sounds like she is on the string! Wow....over dubbed?
video delay. it happens
Yeah! really odd...

Wonderful, but I just hope I don`t cut such a face when playing violin.
She is unhappy while playing, but happy when it is over.
No, she is just concentrating.
who isn't like that
What year was this recorded?
This is not pathetique wtf
it’s a violin sonata ._.
What a wayward 2nd movement. Pushed and pulled all out of shape without any sense of purpose. Don't know what she was thinking.
Any chance you could post yourself playing the 2nd movement the way it should be played?
