I think the feelings of helplessness are compounded by the fact that the burden of protecting the environment keeps getting shifted onto regular folk, even though governments and industries account for over 90% of pollution, and 100 corporations have been responsible for over 70% of industrial emissions. The average person doesn't have a say in how these companies are run, what products they get to purchase, or how their energy is produced. Individual efforts and lifestyle changes can help a little, but systemic problems require systemic change.

Very timely. I'm in Midwest of the US where it is currently -15C with a wind chill of about -25C because of the warming of the poles, causing the jet stream to dip further south, allowing the Arctic air to dip south. I'm surrounded by people who can't understand this!

i am so thankful to hear other people talking about climate change and the anxiety that comes with it. it feels like too many people in my life are ambivalent and it’s exhausting trying to explain my point of view.

Western Australian here, 👋🏼 climate change is so bad that tropical species of sealife are migrating south because it's too hot! So where I live in Perth we keep seeing sharks, jellies, whales etc more so in our waters that were typically in Exmouth and north from there :( also I used to snorkel in Exmouth with vibrant colourful reefs visited about 10 years ago and most of the coral was bleached :(

I don’t have climate anxiety, I have climate grief. I mourn this earth, but have accepted that I will probably die earlier than expected because of the climate. I don’t feel anxious, because I know it’s coming and i cant stop it. “We” totally 100% *could* stop it, but I we *won’t*. I’m just going to enjoy the life I have while I have it.

12:33 Dutch person here. We're still pretty much doing blackface around christmas (december 5th actually, and it starts a couple weeks earlier to lead up to it). And I can also confirm that the largest party in the recent election is bad news. Though, in order for them to achieve any of their goals they'd need to rewrite our constitution, so we should be good for now. It'll even be unlikely for them to actually form a government, so we may need to go to the polls again at some point. So it's definitely bad news, but I'm not too scared (yet)

8:00 Some species of turtles. Over 90% of a certain species (or in a certain region) are born as female because it's getting too warm.

I feel like there's got to be at least some trans women who have named themselves after hurricanes

Well, the Religious Right has blamed those on us, so might as well embrace it. I think of it more as a mutant power.

You got a like from me. Even if the future looks even more grim than you portrayed. Since you forgot some effects.
But there is still hope. Even with less cuts you talked about

i wouldn't necessarily call it climate anxiety, i just get very angry if i think about climate change and the fact that i can't do anything about it on my own and the people who can don't

i'm abt to watch the vid now but my massive question is, we're in an ice age now and the ice is shrinking naturally anyway, we're just increasing it's rate yes? but we're all gonna go extinct anyway, when all the ice melts or the cycle restarts and the earth is 100% covered in ice. so what we're concerned w is trying to avoid climate disasters BEFORE our scheduled extinction, right??? pls help me if i'm wrong!

I wanted to remind you of one thing that a lot of the technology on how to stay back water and how to deal with rising water level is coming from the dutch. So if we go we are bringing everybody else with us. Hope you live on a mountain.
