Andre said that doing this movie was the thing he was most proud of in his whole career. He was great in this and I'm so happy for all the recognition and love he gets for playing Fezzik. RIP Andre.

Mandy Patinkin basically said the same thing - a while after they finished filming it, his wife found him sobbing, asked why, he said "Because I'll never be in a movie that good again." True dat. And he's done plenty of great stuff since, but this, this, is a Classic.

The Mandy Potinkhn sub-plot the best part of this fairy tale. The other scenes are all from British comedy TV. Not impressive in a feature film.

Inigo is waiting for Vezzinni (sp) because he was told that if the job went wrong (which it did!) to go back to the beginning. Where Inigo is parked is where they got the job, so he figures this is the beginning. He is hoping that Vezzinni will arrive and they'll re-group.
Fezzik knows about the six-fingered man because he's on the Brute Squad, which is operated by officials in the palace (including Yellin, who works closely with the Prince); and Fezzik, as we learn, is much more observant and intelligent than he's given credit for being.

Billy Crystal wrote 'My Giant' specifically with Andre in mind. Unfortunately, Andre passed before the movie was made, so Gheorghe Muresan was cast in the role meant for Andre.

Westly/Man in Black was 'torturing' her, because she was affianced to the Prince. He made that clear, when he asked how long she waited before becoming the Prince's future bride (which wasn't voluntary on her part).

One thing to remember when calling this a kids move, PG was for 13yos, and not G that for kids of any age.

If this movie made its way into your heart, may I recommend for your further enjoyment a book (authored by Cary Elwes/Westley/The Man in Black/The Dread Pirate Roberts) titled "As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride." All kinds of behind-the-scenes true tales of intrigue, failure, pain, success, cuisine, and fun -- above all else FUN according to the players.

This book has been suggested a bunch of times lol, I watched some of his interviews when he was promoting the book (i think), and it was amazing to hear his recount of being on set.
I might check it out once I finish The Disaster Artist

I’m watching and commenting months later. I hope you read the book! There are some great stories about Andre the Giant. The audiobook is wonderful. Cary Elwes reads it himself and some of the cast participated.

No, no, no, that is not the wonderful Mel Brooks but the equally wonderful Peter Falk. If you have not yet gotten to know him in his signature role as Columbo, you owe yourself the treat.

Please recall the viewpoint of this entire movie: it's a grandfather reading a BOOK to his grandson; no pictures or illustrations, so none of the characters are "fleshed out," their identities are constructed by whoever hears the words. Grandson pictures who's who in his brain; same for all the characters in the book relative to each other, too!

I’ve heard a story that Andre the Giant had an ATV on set and used to just ride it around between takes, offering it to other cast members and staff. Supposedly he called everyone “Boss,” so he’d pull up and go “you want to ride, Boss? It’s fun!” And that incredibly wholesome visual just gives me so much joy.
