As a recent subscriber I'm enjoying your films, and all the schemes of work. It's all interesting to see success as well as failure. As a bloke just turned 65 I've had my fair share of skinned knuckles, and crawling around on the floor. Good on you mate.👍
Thanks and welcome
Like your videos.
I am doing up my 1953 split screen in Black.
Been thru all what your doing and still at it.
Doing up all the electrics from scratch.
The Devilbiss GT Pro/Sata is an excellent gun for spray painting.
spot welds are always fun. I have used the tools like that but buy the kits with a dozen tips in (they blunt easily) I drill a small pilot hole to hold the tip steady. If I repair / reuse the panel the plug weld will fill the pilot hole. If I use a new panel the pilot hole will be hidden (or if really fussy plug it with the mig n flap disc over it). Makes it so much easier.
Oh mate that battery tray was a pain 😬😊, I like the ideia of the grey colour ... Like you said it’s quite a big effort restoring a classic car but you are definitely doing the right way mate, it’s going to look awesome 🙌🙌👍👍👍
Cheers mate. The battery tray was an effort but it came out pretty tidily. Lots of learning on this one and hopefully I can do a good job
Keep up the good work, I’m enjoying this series.
Thanks for watching :)
"Pretty big job !!" Another understatement of the year. Progress is impressive mate.
Cheers mate. Optimism is important or I'll never get it done
The Morris is starting to look really good now that you’ve got the engine bay stripped and cleaned up. You’ve come a long ways with it Jonathan. Keep up the good work. 😀👍
Thanks Terry. Even little cars are a lot of work to strip down and restore. Cheers!
You don't know how tempted I'd be to sound-deaden every hidden surface with it all pulled apart like that... ;)
Funny you should say that 😀 I do have a few rolls of the stuff to go in
good video. interesting to watch. thanks for sharing.
just think. hundreds of videos coming on this car. awesome.
Plenty more videos to come. Cheers!
This is an excellent series Mr B (Jonathan ?). Really nostalgic for an old geezer like me, think I said this before but you started with a decent car, in MUCH better condition than my 1970 Traveller when I bought her over 30 years ago and I'm now hoping, at long last, to finish a long -running restoration. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching and thanks for the support. This series is definitely bringing back memories for a lot of people. Good luck with getting yours finished! Jonathan
Looking forward to seeing it on the rotisserie and getting to grips with any bodywork issues. Well done on the battery box removal, definitely not the easiest thing!
I'm looking forward to the bodywork even though I don't really know what I'm doing. Cheers!
Considering her age and the NZ weather, she's a pretty solid unit. Good to see her get some love.
It's looking fairly solid so far. Thanks
I like the idea of your breaking down/recording your hours spent...that's going to be interesting!
Cheers
Dave
Thanks. I think it will certainly help people planning on doing something similar.
Aaand the thumb goes up!! ;) The time lapses are really cool ;))
Thank you Sunshine. The time lapses are definitely better than watching a 7 hour long video!
Really enjoy watching this restoration. Inspiring stuff 🙂. You make it look straight forward.. but I'm sure it isn't by any means.. It must be hard enough without filming it all aswell 👍
Thanks for watching. There hasn't been anything too tricky so far but it is all quite time consuming. Filming and editing definitely slow things down!
keep up the good work! i am restoring mine at the moment. i find doing bits in stages helps me a lot, so its not too overwhelming. can't wait to see ur next vid!
Awesome, thanks for watching. A staged approach is definitely the way to go. Cheers!
love what you're doing..!
Thanks!
Good one. Regards John
thanks
Hi mate sorry just watched this been a tad busy but its slowly coming along now and i must say that drill bit i would of chucked it to the moon how good that was lol
Haha cheers mate. Yeah that drill bit sucked big time
Is this car getting a full restoration, it will look awesome, the one thing I have thought is insulation or sound dander for that car, also some paint to protect the floorpans, & major points where it could get rust, that would make it an awesome car/ restoration.
Overall she's fairly solid. Its in much better condition than neglected ones here in Britain.
Yeah I'm pretty lucky with how solid it is
Working on tidying up a Morris Minor engine bay. Exactly as annoying as I remember it. Good luck with it anyway. You’re doing a great job.
It seems never ending! Keep thinking you're almost done and the hours keep rolling with the last few bits. Cheers
Great job Jonathan! That's a full time job 😳 I don't think I'd have persisted as long as you with that tool lol I would have reached for a drill of hammer and chisel 🙈😂😂
Thanks Niamh. That tool was rubbish! There was plenty of hammer and chisel but left a lot of that out of the edit.
I think you should paint it Smoke Grey, the original colour, and the wheels and grille Old English White.
I'm still thinking about colours 😀
Good job mate.
Cheers
Stripping & Drilling. Is this a repair vid or a bedtime dream? lol
That does sound like a good bedtime dream. Sadly the video is about cars 🤣
more patients than me mate that useless spot drill would have been launched and ended up in next week
hate it if it dosnt do what they say it does
Any recent updates on the Morris minor ??
She's gunna be sweet Johno...Don't lose any of those 5/16 UNF nuts and bolts mate...All the people I know who use spot weld drills buy dozens at a time...
It will take a while but should end up looking nice. I've bagged and tagged all the bolts. That particular spot weld drill was garbage. At 20 bucks a pop I'm not going to stock up
Putting that master cylinder in the frame rail was Issigonis taking the piss surely.
It's a bit fiddly to get to but at least there's not much else in the way.
Admittedly it's only really painful when you have to get it out, the bolts come out on the torsion bar side and it has to be pulled out of the way or taken off to allow them to be removed.
Binky eat your heart out.
Can't believe someone sprayed that god awful green colour on that car. The original gray looks quite smart.
The grey is definitely much better. There's a Ford grey I'm thinking of going for that would suit it really well. Cheers mate
The dingos are happy. This part went really fast.
Time flies when you're having fun :)
Pack of hounds moved in next door or have you got the boys a pack of hounds LOL Taking it right down to the wood eh , looks great buddy.
I think Badger lives near Baskerville .
@@mostlymoparih5682 HAHAHA you mean basketville
@@SteveRobReviews It's elementary my dear Watson The Hounds of Baskerville are on the loose.
The neighbours pig hunting dogs. Don't know what sets them off but they make a fair racket. Any progress is a step forward. Cheers buddy
@@Badgertronix Hope your neighbour is not Jack Stapleton, well actually I mean Rodger Baskerville.
Smoke grey, if it’s got a very light bluish tinge to it, Clarendon grey if it’s darker
Smoke grey looks closest to the original. I'm thinking of Ford Stealth Grey
@@Badgertronix It does look quite a bit greenish in daylight! Confused the heck out of me in the first few videos, especially because the interior and exterior paint don't match!
PS: Apologies for any missing letters, my keyboard's acting up! I try to spot all the typos but might have missed some (that was "mght" before I had a second look at it).
I like morris minor, and I have it at home but I can't fix it. i'm from bali.
Does this age of vehicle have a cam driven Fuel pump, I know my Maxi used to.
No, they used an electric fuel pump, mounted on the firewall.
electric with replaceable points
Almost 31.8 hrs!! =)
haha I'll make the next video .4 hours of work to get the number right
Go british green!
I'm pretty keen on grey but still thinking about it
I eat half baked cookies and they taste good so ah half bake video would probably dew me good.
Hang on I'm gonna check on the cookies.
A half baked video might clog up your computer. Not worth the risk
@@Badgertronix Risk?
The game of Risk?
I play that.
@@mostlymoparih5682 it used to be a family favourite here
@@Badgertronix It is here two2 except it's on the restricted list.
How did you get on with your screen ?
Good. The Hyundai or the Morris? Both sorted without any drama :)
And i thought drilling out structural rivets was hard.
There was a lot of them! Must have been a structural battery tray 😂
Not a bad series but videos not regular enough.🇬🇧
I do what I can around a full time job and family
