Wow..i left this area in 83 when i was !6..tried to visit from brum..whitehorse rd to thornton heath train station was my regular c bus/walk..my hose was on saxon rd. :)..my aunt lived on melfort rd past the train staion in thornton heath. :)
that was fantastic, past my old address Falkland Park Avenue and a journey I used to take so often and have some happy memories of Xmas with my Mum and brother on a particular bus journey.Thank you that brought back happy times!!
Crystal Palace is an interesting place. You have 4 boroughs converging near the parade (Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth and Southwark) and Upper Sydenham in the the borough of Lewisham is not far away either.
Hi Willy, a nice and organised drive. The roads are narrow but very well laid out and the traffic is also quite disciplined and patient unlike in India. Are Crystal Palace and Thornton Heath suburban London. Enjoyed the virtual ride. Thank you and you too stay safe.
9:27 this was my route to high school, i went to harris ctc before it became an academy. lots of good memories but its a bit depressing how expensive homes are now. id need to be a millionaire to afford a little 1 bedroom there and most of my friends either live with family or they moved out
If you get a chance to drive up to the North again, stop by Walsall (where the M5 meets the M6). My mother was born there nearly 100 years ago. She had family that lived in Motherwell 100 years before that. God knows how I ended up in Houston TX.
Willy what a shame you had no time to drive in to Crystal Palce grounds. You drive slowly showing whats left where the Palace stood. After all the area takes name from the palace which burned in 1936. On your film when coming back from Crystal Palace to South Norwood ( shame you cut that bit) you were driving along magical Crystal Palace Park wall, visible parts of pumping towers for the once Victorian fountains.
@@123scotyboy Check the map Willy for 4 different gates. Another gate will lead you to Crystal Palace old Athletic stadion. Then nr. Swimming pool you will see monument of Joseph Paxton..........all without getting out from the car. Sir Joseph Paxton was an English gardener, architect and Member of Parliament, best known for designing the Crystal Palace and for cultivating the Cavendish banana, the most consumed banana in the Western world.Wikipedia For sure you deliver the bananas to your customers ?
Doesn't make sense? Why no ethnics forcing their way past, undertaking where they can't and trying to go 80mph in financed Merc? It's just too civilised to what these areas really are
Is this Somewhere in Africa, it looks awful, all the building are old and doesn’t have art, dirty and unplanned shops. I didn’t expected London like this 🤮🤮
This brings back many memories of south London, Thornton Heath etc although its over 60 yrs not to much has changed i would have liked the odd location on the bottom of the video for a NZer who gets back not often enough thanks
I wish I had £1 for every time I've walked, ridden and driven that route over the last five decades. Thanks for sharing.
👋🏻❤️💙

I grew up in Norbury and spent many decades around these parts of South London. What an absolute shithole it’s turned in to!
