I do not think a house exists that has actually straight and plumb walls. Every kitchen I have built has had some scoring to do. I prefer to remove all the drywall to the studs before putting in any cabinets. This way I can fix any wiring and plumbing. Fill holes in the walls, check the structure, and finally install 1/2 plywood in place of new drywall. This way I can fix any plumb issues and shave any studs that are bowed. With the plywood, you do not have to worry about tapping into structure as the structure is everywhere. Just remember your nailing plates over wires and pipes.
I don't like to make people feel bad about their chooses. The first time the have to get a latter to close the upper cabinet they will realize they made a bad decision.
guy did a horrible job on that vent hood. bent flashing, outlet cover isn't flush to flashing, no caulking, dry wall busted out with a hammer inside the closet.
@@JacobGrippenMusic That was just to align them and hold them while they attached them. Don't it myself in the past. But you take the cleat down after you attached the cabinets to the studs in the wall.
@Navy1977 I'm guess 54 is to the bottom of the uppers. That sounds normal. But those top uppers are totally useless. They look nice but you would need a ladder every time you want access.
